Abstract

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the State Polytechnic of Malang in carrying out its function, namely carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is required to carry out community service through various forms of activity, for this reason, collaboration with the Siti Fatimah Pandaan Orphanage Foundation is carried out. The purpose of this PkM is to provide counseling and understanding of the program which is expected to be a provision for assistants to be independent and can improve students' skills. The PkM program at the Siti Fatimah Pandaan Orphanage Foundation was chosen by considering the efficiency and intensity of program implementation. Aspects of the problems that are resolved in this PkM Program are improving the ability, competence, and understanding of the target audience. This PkM activity consists of several activities, including: 1) Assistance in the manufacture of hand sanitizers, 2) Submission of materials for making hand sanitizers. The results of the PkM showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in making hand sanitizers. In addition, increasing understanding of the introduction and application of production management and marketing of hand sanitizers. Furthermore, several PkM achievements that have been achieved include: Articles published in national journals with ISSN, and publication of activities on social media

Abstract

The tofu industrial center of Tegalpasangan - Pakis - Malang is one of the large tofu industrial centers in Malang Regency, where in the tofu industrial center there are no less than 20 tofu industries, most of which are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with a workforce of 2 - 4 people with an average production capacity of 2-5 quintals of soybeans per day. Like other cottage industries, tofu is produced manually without mechanical equipment, and there is little attention to good, healthy production methods. Likewise, without the existence of a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) to treat waste water generated from the production process, which results in pollution of the aquatic environment. Community service activities aim to increase the knowledge, understanding and skills of partners (tofu industry owners) in producing tofu and treating wastewater properly and healthily. Technical guidance is provided in the form of GMP (Good Manufacturing Product) training, HACCP (Hazard Analitycal and Critical Control Point), waste treatment and provision (grant) of WWTP equipment. The results of PkM activities show that the provision of training and IPAL grants provides significant benefits for the knowledge and skills of partners, especially in handling waste water produced from the tofu industry so that it can reduce environmental pollution.

Abstract

Indonesia has programmed units of biogas as an energy producer. By-products such as organic sludge. Liquid separation of organic sludge biogas unit will be the terrestrial and aquatic plant fertilizer. Water plant that uses a liquid organic sludge biogas unit (LOSBGU) using vegetable decomposer were expected to be a very good influence on the increase of alga cells. The results showed that the addition of vegetable LOSBGU and decomposers in the media for 12 days alga could produce alga cells very significantly, however, its interaction was not significant. It was concluded that the addition of vegetable LOSBGU and decomposers in alga was very good media to enhance cell growth and its multiplication was also quite high. As suggestion, the use of  LOSBGU is needed to increase the production of alga.

Abstract

Wringinsongo is one of the rural areas in Tumpang District, Malang Regency, East Java Province that offers numerous advantages, particularly in the agricultural and tourism sectors. Wringinsongo's growing population, increasingly diverse consumption patterns, the establishment of modern markets, and community economic activities all contribute to increased waste generation. The volume of waste at the Wringinsongo Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) has reached 15 m3, causing environmental and social issues. The majority of the waste in TPS and TPA is organic waste generated by households. The accumulation of organic waste in TPS and TPA will produce anaerobic decomposition compounds, namely methane gas, which is the primary cause of the greenhouse effect, which has a negative impact on the environment. Composting is one method of waste processing that can be used to reduce waste in TPA and TPS. Basic composting knowledge and skills are acquired during the composting process in order to achieve the desired results. Thus, community service is provided with the intention of offering technical composting guidance. Counseling and direct practice in composting are the methods used. Counseling is used to provide insight into waste processing via composting, while practice is employed to provide skills and direction in the composting process. This activity generates initial compost, which can be added to with new organic waste every day, enables household organic waste to be managed independently.
