Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease that continues to increase in number in Indonesia and is a disease that is spread throughout the world due to unbalanced nutritional conditions. Treatment of diabetes mellitus is a chronic and lifelong treatment. Treatment of diabetes mellitus, such as the use of insulin and oral antihyperglycemia drugs, is relatively expensive, is used for a long time and can cause unwanted side effects. There are many plants that have potential as antihyperglycemia drugs. One of the active compounds that act as antihyperglycemia is flavonoids.Flavonoids derived from various types of plants studied are thought to act as antihyperglycemic agents. Flavonoids are known to have the ability to scavenge free radicals or act as natural antioxidants. The antioxidant activity of flavonoids is related to phenolic –OH groups which can capture or neutralize free radicals (such as ROS or RNS). Flavonoids can play a role in pancreatic tissue damage caused by DNA alkylation due to alloxan induction as a result of improving the morphology of the rat pancreas.

Abstract

Spices have been widely developed for herbal products because people believe that the product is safe without any side effects that are harmful to the health of the body. Herbal products are made from natural ingredients of plants or plants without a mixture of chemicals. One of the herbal product businesses in Palembang is SME Hippocrates Medika. SME Hippocrates Medika was established in 2019 as a komanditer snuffoying business. Freedia is the flagship product of this SME which is downstream from the innovation products of Rachmat Hidayat and the team. Freedia is an herb that is processed as a brew drink to overcome diabetes mellitus disorder. In an effort to improve the quality of Freedia products, efforts are made to carry out a capsulation process for the extract so that the discomfort of freedia extract can be minimized to the maximum. The application of capsulation technology greatly helps improve the quality of freedia herbal products. Where consumers feel very comfortable in the consumption of freedia herbs because there is no need to bother boiling herbs and do not need to feel bitter when consuming herbs.

Abstract

Inflamasi vaskular merupakan kondisi patologis yang mendasari terjadinya gangguan pada pembuluh darah. NADPH oksidase merupakan enzim sentral yang mengaktivasi kaskade inflamasi sehingga dihasilkan  superoxide (Reactive Oxygen Species), aktivasi sel fagosit, pengeluaran sitokin proinflamasi dan kerusakan jaringan vaskular. Aktivasi PPAR γ akan menginhibisi faktor transkripsi NF-κB dan  menurunkan ekspresi gen sitokin proinflamasi. Pioglitazon dan telmisartan berkerja  sebagai full dan partial agonis PPAR-γ. Diharapkan kedua agen ini dapat berperan dalam mencegah inflamasi vaskular dengan aktivasi PPAR γ. Tikus Wistar jantan usia 10 minggu (n= 30) dilakukan randomisasi ke dalam enam  kelompok, 5 ekor tikus tiap kelompok, perlakuan selama 8 minggu. Kelompok 1 :kontrol negatif. Kelompok 2 : diberi NaCl 8%  dan aquades 5 ml. Kelompok 3 dan 4 :  diberi NaCl 8% serta pioglitazon secara berurutan dengan dosis 3 mg/kgBB dan 6 mg/kgBB. Kelompok 5 dan 6 : diberi NaCl 8% serta telmisartan secara berurutan dengan dosis 6 mg/kgBB dan 12 mg/kgBB. Kadar TGF-β dan IL-10 dianalisis dengan ELISA. Uji ANOVA dilanjutkan dengan pos hoc test (Boferroni test) digunakan untuk menganalisis variabel. Kadar TGF β1 dan IL-10  kelompok 3-6 menunjukkan penurunan signifikan dibandingkan  kelompok  2. Telmisartan dan pioglitazon  menurunkan kadar TGF-β1 dan IL-10 pada jaringan aorta tikus putih seiring peningkatan dosis.

Abstract

Background Rasbora agrotynea (local name : Seluang ) is a fish native to Sumatera, Malaya and Borneo. This fish has a potential as a local wisdom for supplementation of omega 3 and omega 6. In Sumatera, Seluang fish was used as traditional food. Aim of Study Aim of this study to explore the efficacy of seluang fish oil in body weight, lipid profile, adiponectin and leptin level in Wistar Rats-Induced High Fat Diet Methods This study was an experimental study , pre-post test with control group design. The sample in this study was 30 male rats, 8 weeks old, weight 150-200 gram. Rats were given high fat diet and seluang fish oil at dose of 0,1 , 0,2 and 0,4 mL/200 gr BW/day for 2 weeks. Seluang fish oil was extracted by distilation methods. The results of this study were assayed by SPSS 18. Results Seluang fish oil 0,4 mL/200 gr BW was more potent to reduce body weight gain, triglyseride level, leptin and increase adiponectin level than seluang fish oil 0,1 mL/200 gr BW, 0,2 mL/200 gr BW, negative control and positive control. Conclusion Seluang fish oil had a potention to reduce body weight, triglyceride, leptin and increase adiponectin level. Keywords: Seluang fish Oil – body weight- triglyserida – leptin - adiponectin

Abstract

Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) can cause individuals to experience oxidative stress conditions, accompanied by a decrease in antioxidant activity in protecting cellular components against the attack of reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS oxidized lipid components can produce Malondialdehyde (MDA). Evaluation of MDA can be used as a marker Oxidative stress which can indirectly describe the effects of ROS because ROS compounds are reactive. This study aims to determine the analysis of MDA in T2DM subjects at the Sentinel Public Health Center in Bengkulu City in 2017.research Analytic with a case control study design in 40 samples of T2DM subjects (cases) and 40 Non-DM samples (control) were carried out at the Sentinel DM Health Center in Bengkulu City. Data collection used questionnaires, measurements of Body Mass Index, examination of Fasting Blood Glucose and plasma MDA (spectrophotometry). The results of this study there were differences in characteristics (Gender, Age, BMI, Blood Pressure, Fasting Blood Glucose) in subjects with T2DM and Non-T2DM in the Bengkulu City Sentinel Health Center in 2017 (p <0,000). There was a significant difference (p= 0,000) in higher MDA levels in patients with T2DM than non-DM subjects. The MDA frequency distribution in the case was MDNormal (24%) and MDA Normal (6%), whereas in the control was MDA Not Normal (26%) and MDA Normal (44%). There were significant differences in MDA frequency distribution between cases and controls (p= 0,000). The subjects of T2DM had a risk of 6.77 times an increase in MDA levels compared to Non-DMT2 (p= 0.000, OR 6.77 IK 95% 2.44-18.73). The correlation between levels of GDP and MDA was statistically significant (p <0.001) with a positive correlation direction (0.340). The results of this study are expected to be used as a basis for the development of individual therapy in subjects with T2DM in order to prevent the occurrence of complications early on.

Abstract

Nutrition and health problems are problems that are still an iceberg phenomenon in Indonesia. It can be seen in big cities like Jakarta which still have quite a lot of health problems. Nutritional problems in Indonesia continue to increase from year to year. These nutritional and health problems will affect the health of infants and toddlers. This community service program is expected to increase public knowledge and insight regarding the importance of nutrition, immunization, and stimulation in the first 1000 days of life, reduce malnutrition rates in toddlers, and fulfill health facilities and infrastructure in Barugbug Village. The community service program that will be carried out will be directed at the importance of nutrition, immunization, and stimulation in the first 1000 days of life for health, multiple intelligence and reducing malnutrition rates in toddlers in RT 01 RW 05 Barugbug Village, Jatisari District, Karawang, West Java. This activity was carried out for 5 months. The series of activities carried out in this program include counseling, mobile posyandu, KPSP (Pre-Development Screening Questionnaire), nutrition consultation, direct practice of child stimulation, advocacy, and TOT (Training Of Trainers). The results of the implementation of this program are an increase in public knowledge which can be measured by the results of the pretest and posttest, the reduction in the number of under-nutrition in children under five which can be measured by conducting mobile posyandu and monitoring nutritional status, increasing the intelligence of multiple children by conducting the KPSP (Pre-screening Development Questionnaire) and Practicing directly stimulates children, improves health status through nutrition consultations, makes use of health facilities and infrastructure through advocacy addressed to the Karawang Regent, and conducts TOT (Training Of Trainers) for puskesmas staff, village midwives, and village cadres for the sustainability of our program.

Abstract

Although significant progress has been made in cancer treatment in recent decades, the effectiveness of modern therapeutic approaches is often limited by their toxic effects on other organs. In addition, many people in the world have limited or unequal access to cancer treatment services. Therefore, utilizing information from traditional medicine systems to identify alternative methods to prevent and control cancer. The use of traditional medicine can lead to the discovery of new bioactive compounds and drugs that are available, safe and affordable. In Islamic medicine, cancer is known as a disease with many treatment options. Traditional Islamic medicine suggests several strategies for cancer control and treatment. Surgical manipulation, venesection, dietary adjustment, and use of natural medicines including solid, semisolid, and liquid dosage forms by oral and external routes of administration are among these methods. This literature study will presents cancer from the perspective of traditional Islamic medicine, its aetiology and management.

However, researchactivities must still respect the rights and dignity of research subjects.Health research includes biomedical, epidemiological, social, and behavioralresearch. Some health research can be done in vitro, using mathematicalmodels, or computer simulations. If the research results are to be used forhumans, further research is needed using living materials (in vivo) such ascell lines and tissue cultures. However, to observe, study, and conclude alloccurrences in living things as a whole, experimental animals are neededbecause experimental animals have a value for each part of the body andthere are interactions between these body parts.

Abstract

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) adalah penyakit infeksi menular melalui vektor yang disebabkan oleh virus dengue dengan berbagai manifestasi klinis seperti demam, manifestasi perdarahan dan kegagalan sirkulasi. Penyakit ini dapat didiagnosis melalui kriteria klinis dan pemeriksaan laboratorium seperti trombositopenia (trombosit 100.000/ µL) dan hemokosentrasi (hematokrit ≥20%). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai pengaruh kadar hematokrit dengan derajat klinis DBD pasien anak ruang Rawat Inap di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh dengan menggunakan data sekunder yaitu rekam medis yang dilakukan pada bulan November 2016. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Total Sampling didapakan 61 pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inkulsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai p = 0.006 dan nilai r = -0,350 yang berarti adanya pengaruh yang signifikan antara kadar hematokrit terhadap derajat klinis DBD dan sebagain besar responden dengan kadar hematokrit normal dengan diagnosis terbanyak yaitu DBD Derajat II.Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a vector-borne transmitted infections caused by dengue virus with various clinical manifestations such as fever, hemorrhagic manifestations, and circulatory failure. It can be diagnosed by clinical criteria and laboratorium tests such as thrombositopenia (platelet count 100.000/µL) and hemoconcentration (hematocrit ≥20%). The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of hematocrit levels with the degree of clinical DHF child patients Inpatient room at Regional General Hospital dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh by using secondary data tha medical records were conducted in November 2016. This study is observational analytic with cross sectional design. Sampling was done by total sampling technique, found 61 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The result showed p-value = 0,006 and r-value = -0,350 which means that there is an effect of hematocrit levels with diagnosis of dengue. And the most respondents showed with normal hematocrit levels with the diagnosis of dengue is highest grade II.

Abstract

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden decrease of kidney function. The incidence of AKI is increasing every year. One of the causes of AKI is the lack of blood supply to the kidneys (prerenal). At the present time, there are not many studies that report unilateral ischemic-reperfusion (UIR) duration which can cause kidney damage especially glomerulus. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of UIR duration to glomerular microscopic appearance, GFR and cystatin C produced in Wistar white rats. This study was performed in vivo by using Post-test Only Control Group Design. Unilateral Ischemic-Reperfusion was administered on the rat’s left kidney and recovery was done according to specified time. After recovery time, rat’s blood was taken, the rat was euthanized, and its kidneys were taken and stained with Picrosirius Red coloring. The kidneys were observed by using OptiLED and the photos were analyzed with ImageJ software. Blood samples were tested by ELISA to measure the cystatin C levels and the levels were converted into Larrson formula to obtain Glomerular Filtration Rate. The level of cystatin C increased along with the longer duration of UIR and compared inversely proportional to GFR which decreased along with the rise of UIR duration. Cystatin C and GFR had a significant mean difference (p<0.05) with all groups, except for the duration of the UIR group <60 minutes. The percentage of collagen obtained fluctuated but the whole group which was carried out by UIR had a significantly different collagen amount (p <0.05) with the sham-operated group. The average glomerular picture showed the addition of collagen, Bowman's capsule thickening and vascular retraction. The longer duration of UIR will worsen the kidney function.
