Abstract

Product complexity index was an indicator of a manufacturing product that describes the products are designed and manufactured with a level of complexity. In this study, assesment of product complexity was conducted on milling processing product. Assesment conducted on the variable of turning processing product complexity based on features of the products and specifications of materials, shapes, geometry, tolerance, general surface finish and hardness. ElMaraghy introduced the method in this study and Urbanic based on information product were absolute quantity information, diversity of information, and content of product information. The results of product complexity assesment indicated that the product of original External Thread Bearing Housing had product complexity index of 6.28. While the results of product complexity assesment indicated that, the product of redesign External Thread Bearing Housing had product complexity index of 8.96.

Abstract

Coupling is one of the components are widely used in various industries. Coupling is widely used as a power transfer transmission. Coupling have a long life time, it mean coupling was damage if out of the maintenance. The one factor is misalignment. This study aim to determine the effect of misalignment on the coupling transmission to vibration, electric current and shaft rotation speed. In this study, was done alignment process with variations of misalignment on the coupling transmission and was done measurement value of vibration,  electric current and shaft rotation speed. The study results show that the changed of misalignment would give a positive impact to vibration and electric current. For the effect misalignment to shaft rotation speed, the study results show that the changed of misalignment would give a negative impact to shaft rotation speed.

Abstract

In milling process with slope of workpiece, the milling process requires more energy from milling machine. The greater the slope of workpiece estimated to be the greater energyrequired by the milling machine. Therefore, the machining vibration that occurs was estimated to be very big. This study aimed to determine influence theslope of workpiece to machining vibration in milling machine with variations of feeding. This study used Milling Machine Knuth Universal UFM 2 with vertical milling approach. The slope of workpiece used was 300, 450 and 600.The machining process parameters varied was feeding while depth of cut and spindle speed were constant. The study results show that the greater the slope of work piece, the greater the machining vibration on the up milling process and the down milling processes for all slope of work piece. Similarly the influence of feeding to machining vibration in milling process. The study results show that the change of feeding will give a positive impact to machining vibration on the up milling process and the down milling processes. For same the slope of workpiece and feeding the machining vibration on the down milling process is greater than the up milling process.

Abstract

Gear is a rotating machine that is widely used as a power transfer transmission in many industries. Gear has a long life times. However, the gears can be damaged due to many factors such as out of the maintenance, which one factor of misalignment. This study aim is to determine the effect of misalignment on the gear transmission to vibration, electric current and shaft rotation speed. In this study, was done alignment process with variations of misalignment on the gear transmission alignment kit and was done measurement value of vibration, electric current and shaft rotation speed. The study results show the greater the misalignment, the greater the vibration that occurs either radially or axially for all conditions measured. The shaft rotation was slower with the greater misalignment. The misalignment can affect the decrease in the rotation speed of the shaft. Therefore, it can reduce the efficiency for power transmission of engine.
