Abstract:A study was conducted in december 2013 in coastal waters Topang Island RiauProvince, with a view to learn the environmental conditions under the deposition ofoceanography and physics. The method used is a method of surveys carried out at 12 stationswithout repetition and 2 times repetition on calculations of the quality of the waters .Theresults of research shows that bottom sediment surface waters can be grouped into threefaction sediment is sandy mud , muddy sand and sand .Sand faction dominating at anyresearch station with type 2 is sand and muddy sand .Based on the parameter of sediment asthe diameter of average (Mz), sorting ( ), skewness (Sk1) and kurtosis (KG), physicaloceanographic conditions in Western and Eastern parts of the island tend to be stablecompared to the North and South. Abstract

Probiotic is an alternative subtance to prevent fish diseases which is environmentally friendly. The research purpose was to isolate potential probiotic to control bacteria pathogen in barramundi (Lates calcarifer) to control the bacteria pathogen. The probiotic bacteria candidates were isolated from intestine of barramundi by using the spread and streak methods on MRS and TSA media. The antibacterial activity was examinined by using disc diffusion agar method on Zobell 2216E medium. The results showed thirty eight isolates were found which consisted of coccus, white, orange and yellow colonies. Twelve isolates had inhibition against Vibrio alginolyticus, two isolates showed highest inhibition zone and antivibrio activities. The highest inhibition zone (10.04 ± 1,48 mm) and (9,50 ± 2,12 mm) and the antivibrio activities (4.04 mm) and (3.50 mm) were indicated by KPBU2-5 and KPMU2-6 isolates respectively. Keywords: Probiotics, Isolation, Barramundi, Antagonistic.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was conducted in July 2014, located in the Putri Sembilan estuaryDistrict of Rupat Utara. Mangrove snails of T. sulcata as one of the foods favored ofRupat Utara coastal communities. This research aims to determine the patterns ofdistribution and population density of gastropods T. sulcata in estuary waters PutriSembilan District of Rupat Utara. The method used in this study was a surveymethod and determination of observation stations was determined by purpossivesampling method, where the location of the study divided into three stations. Theresults showed that the highest density of T. sulcata found at Station 2 which locatedat area of mangrove (± 100 meters from the station 1 towards the upper river) whilethe lowest density was found at station I (the mouth of the estuary of the river). Thedistribution pattern of mangrove snails T. sulcata overall was evenly which rangesfrom 0,01 - 0,05.Key words: T. sulcata, density, distribution patterns, Rupat Island.

Abstract

A research on the production, decomposition rate and identification of bacteria on Avicennia alba litter in the coastal zone Kuala Indragiri, Riau Province. This research was aimed to observe the contribution of mangrove forests in the productivity for surrounding environment and conducted from December 2014-March 2015. The litter production was calculated by using litter-trap. Sample was collected once in every 15 days during 45 days of observation. The litterfall was oven-dried and weighed. The result showed that avarage production of litterfall of A. alba in all station was 297.696 g/m2/45days (fresh weight) and 189.763 g/m2/45days (dry weight). The average total shrinking dry weight of litterfall leaf /day was at 0.13225 g/day or 1.3225 %/day. The average reduction dry weight of A. alba litterfall in every station was 7.848 g during 45 days of observation with a percentage value of the decomposed litterfall weight of 78.480% or 0,523 g/day, with final result of litterfall dry weight is 2,152 g. Seven types of bacterial colonies were identified on each station and consisted of Bacillus sp (2), Micrococcus sp, Xanthomonas sp, Pseudomonas sp, Vibrio sp and Escherichia sp.Keywords: Avicennia alba, litter, production, decomposition rate, bacteria, Kuala Indragiri

Abstract

This research was conducted in Februari 2016 in mangrove forest area the Marine Station University of Riau, Dumai. The aim of study was to find out the distribution of bacteria Vibrio sp. from Sipetang which sampled from mangrove forest area the Marine Station University of Riau, Dumai. Determination of sampling point is done by using purposive sampling methods. Sampling points was set into three sampling points. The results of this research was the bacteria vibrio found in sipetang and sediment, therefore bacteria vibrio morphological and biochemical test. Distribution of vibrio bacteria were highest in sampling points III (1,154 x 109), while the lowest was in the sampling point II (5,25 x 105). Vibrio sp. bacteria contained in sipetang and sediment in mangrove forest areas in riau university Marine Station University of Riau, dumai, bacteria in this region might be Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.   Keywords: Sipetang, Bacteria, Vibrio sp., Mangrove, Dumai.

Abstract

The use of probiotics as an effort to improve the cultivation environment and suppress pathogenic disease proved can help some of the problems in the cultivation of shrimp ponds. This study aimed to determine the effect of the concentration of probiotics effervescent tablets on the growth of Vibrio sp. The method used in the study was an experimental method with 2 treatments, water pond with pond water treatment level is not sterile (non aseptic), pond water that has been sterilized (aseptic) and water pond with bacteria Vibrio sp. and the concentration of probiotics effervescent tablet with a level of treatment 20%, 30% and 40% maltodextrin with 2 repetitions. The ability of probiotics effervescent tablet on the growth of Vibrio sp. it is known to test the TPC (Total Plate Count). Based on the TPC tests have shown that probiotics contained in effervescent tablets with a concentration of 20% maltodextrin has the ability to be most effective in inhibiting or suppressing the growth of Vibrio sp. These indications prove extremely decreasing the amount of bacteria Vibrio sp. on pond water after 48 hours underway. Statistical test result, see from the effect of the concentration of probiotic effervescent tablets on the growth of Vibrio sp. on a shrimp pond water, showed no significant differences (P> 0.05).Keywords: probiotic, effervescent tablets, Vibrio sp., Total Plate Count

Abstract

ABSTRAK Mangrove ecotourism is one of efforts to maintain and utilize mangrove forests sustainably. This research was conducted in May 2017 in Sungai Asam Village, Reteh district, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This study was aimed to determine the potential of mangrove ecosystems, to know the level of participation and perception of policy makers (community and stakeholders), and to compose strategies for developing mangrove ecotourism in Sungai Asam Village. The method used in this research was survey method. Sampling point and respondents determined by purposive sampling method. Sungai Asam Village has the potential to be developed as a mangrove ecotourism area due to the good ecological condition of the forest. Community participation in ecotourism development in Sungai Asam village is low with IPR value of -0.16 and mean value of 0.95, while community perception on ecotourism development in Sungai Asam village is high with IPR value of -2.68 and the mean value of 7.63. Based on the perception of the stakeholders that the mangrove forest area of Sungai Asam Village is suitable to be a mangrove ecotourism area. The strategy that must be applied in the development of mangrove ecotourism in Sungai Asam Village is to implement aggressive strategy (Growth Oriented Strategy) by prioritizing the SO Strategy those are: 1) determining the mangrove forest area of Sungai Asam Village as a conservation area, 2) Creating a general management plan, 3) Building cooperation with colleges or research institutes 4) Developing local communities.
