Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Study was conducted in July 2012 by taking seawater and sediment samples from Telaga Tujuh Karimun Regency of Riau Islands Province . The purpose of this study was to find out the concentration of heavy metals Pb , Cu and Zn in sediment and seawater in the Telaga Tujuh waters and also to see the relationships between heavy metals Pb , Cu and Zn in sea water with Pb , Cu and Zn in the sediment. Sampling locations were determined by purposive sampling method , where 6 station were choose with three replicates. Based on the results it was suggested that Telaga Tujuh waters are still suitable for aquatic organisms living waters . Higher concentrations of Zn on were found when compared to Pb and Cu bouth in seawater or in sediment . Standard Quality Guideline values for metal concentrations in sediment showed that Pb , Cu and Zn in the sediment were very close to the ERL but still well below the ERM values. The concentration of heavy metals Pb , Cu and Zn in sea water were negative by correlated with concentration of heavy metals in the sediments.Keywords : Telaga Tujuh, Heavy Metals, Sediment, Seawater

Abstract

This research was conducted from September-October 2016 at Paya Kundur marine waters, Karimun Regency of Riau Islands Province. Samples were analyzed in the laboratory of Marine Chemistry, Marine Science Department, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries University of Riau. This study aims to determine the vertical profiles of suspended sediment in the marine environment Paya Kundur. This study used survey method, which consists of nine sampling points. Water samples were taken vertically, consists of three levels, namely surface waters, middle (columns), and bottom waters with a distance of ± 6 m. Vertically (surface, middle and bottom) of the distribution of suspended sediment influenced by tidal currents, the location and tin mining activities in bottom waters. The distribution pattern of suspended sediments at ebb tide and flood tide has the highest content at the bottom. The highest content of suspended sediment distribution dominated in the tin mining area to the west of Kundur. Based on quality standart for marine organisme and TSS for fisheries, it can be concluded that waters fertility of Paya Kundur has passed the quality standard and its not suitable for fisheries activities.Keywords: Suspended Sediments, Marine Waters Paya Kundur

Abstract

This study was carried out in May 2012. It aimed to find out on the stageextent of suspended solid in the west coastal waters of Bengkalis, in Riauprovince. This study used survey method and van Dorn sampler to collect thewater samples at 7 stations of the study area. The National Standard Method ofIndonesia for suspended solid analysis was used to deal with the main goal of thestudy. The result showed that the average stage of suspended solid was differentfor all stations. The considerable one was found in the station 4 comparing to theother stations. It caused station 4 was located at the confluence of the tidal currentpatterns come from the Malacca Strait low tide that come with the current of theriver around the west coastal water of Bengkalis.Key word : Suspended Solids, Water Of Bengkalis

Abstract

This study was conducted in February 2016 in the strait between Belakang Padang Island and Sambu Island of Batam City in Riau Island Archipelago Province. The aim of the student has to understand the environmental deposition of Pulau Belakang Padang waters based on the analysis of surface sediments distribution. Surface sediment samples were taken using Eckman grab from 20 sampling points, to analyze the grain size and sediment composition. In general, the sediment characteristics of the study area is dominated by the fraction from fine to very fine sand. Environmenal deposition can be devided 4 groups. The first group has a weak current and very unstable oceanographic condition, the second group has a mean size that is more rugged and has lower percentage of clay fraction, third group was characterized by stronger current and slightly more stable oceanographic condition and fourth group has oceanographic conditions with the most strong and more stable current system.Keyword: Sediment, Distribution, Belakang Padang, Sambu, Batam

Abstract

ABSTRAKThe research was conducted in May 2014, in the western part of the Rupat Strait. The aim of study was to determine the sediment material horizontally. This samples were taken using Eckman Grab from 9 sampling points. The analysis of the organic content in the sediment was also done.The results showed that the composition of the sediment in the western part of the Strait Rupat composed of lithogenous (rocks, mica, quartz ) and biogenous ( litter and Foraminifera). Lithogenous composition of rocks dominate waters and existede evenly at each sampling point. The highest percentage found in a location close to the mainland, this was suggested that the materials carried by the tide of Malacca and ebb currents of the Sungai Masjid River piled around this sampling point. In addition, the type of rock could have also come from erosion and anthropogenic activities in water around the edge.The organic matter content of sediment was highest at the sampling point close to the mangrove area. Abstract

The study was conducted in January 2016 in the estuary of Dumai River, Province of Riau Indonesia, aims to determine the amount of the lithogeneus sediment, which flow through the Dumai River, and were deposited in the Estuary Dumai River. The estuary were divided into eight (8) sampling point. The result of this study showed that the Estuary of Dumai River is influenced by the water mass flow through the River (13.81 m3/s) which supply the lithogeneus sediment as much 4,644.03 gr/s or 165.6 tons/year and are deposited 0,0175 gr/cm2/day or 6,3 gr/cm2/year.Keywords: Sediment Transport, Lithogeneus Sediment, Dumai River

Abstract

This study was conducted on May 27 to June 3, 2013 on the island of Aceh Singkil Palambak Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. The purpose of study is to analyze the potential of tourism in Palambak as a marine tourism in the concept of ecotourism as well as analyze and formulate concepts and strategies Palambak Island marine tourism development.Based on the analysis, the island has hight potential to serve as a national and international marine ecotourism based on the aspects of chemical physics parameters oseonografi, geology and geomorphology, depth and slope of the beach, type of beach substrate, climate coastal ecosystems, historical value, based on an overview tour players, and the values of WTP and WTA. The concept of ecotourism (ecoturism). Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to reveal the depositional environmentand the movement of coastline. This study was conducted in January 2013 innorthern part of Rangsang Island, Meranti District. Sediment samples were takenfrom 11 station sand analyzed by using mechanical granular method. The methodof remote sensing linear regression was used to determine the movement ofcoastline. The result of study show that the surface bottom sediment ischaracterized by sand and mud fractions, and is dominated by bottom characterof sand. The study area was a transitional area where waves and currents werepredicted to change frequently through not too significant. The currents strengthtend to move with the fluctuations. The average change of the coastline during thepast 13 years (2000 to 2013) was 7,455 m/yr with the greatest changes occurredat station 7, i.e. Kedabu Rapat Village, with 8.54 m/yr. The speed movement ofcoastline was marked by the destruction of land cover in the north along the coastof the Rangsang Island as indicated by destruction of mangrove forests andvegetation coast, the sinking of jetty, roads and houses as well as the erosion.Kata kunci: movement of coastline, sediment coastal, Rangsang Island, abrat

Abstract

This study was conducted from March to April 2016 in the Laboratory of PhysicalOceanography Marine Science Department Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science University ofRiau. This study aimed to explain a relationship between current velocity and wave propagationspeed, and sediment particle size to the results of sediment transport volume. The method used wasan experimental design with 4 treatments. Current velocity and wave propagation speed wereconsists of 2 level factors (V1 and V2) and sediment particle size were consists of 2 level factors(D1 and D2). Observations used the flume tank and wave generator for 10 minutes. The resultsshow that there was an effect of current velocity, wave propagation, and sediment particle size tosediment transport volume. If the current velocity increase so sediment transport volume alsoincreased. While if sediment particle size increase the sediment transport volume decreased.Observations in the laboratory and calculation of sediment transport that used an Engelund-Hansenformula showed differences. Abstract

This research was conducted in January 2015 with the aim to determine the characteristics of the sediment vertically in Bengkalis Strait. This research used survey method which divided into 7 stations. Sediment samples were taken by using gravity cores. Analysis of the sediment was carried by the size of the analytical method and the drying method.The results showed that sediments in the location was dominated by sand fraction, then mud and gravel fractions. The result of Sediment grain size analysis showed that Bengkalis Strait have characteristics of coarse sand, medium sand, fine sand, very fine sand, silt and medium coarse silt with sorting coefficient consists of well sorted, moderately well sorted, moderately sorted, sorted pooly and very pooly sorted. The distribution of sediment was very fine skewed, fine skewed, near symmetrical, coarse and very coarse skewed. Common sediment characteristics between the station was also seen in the cluster analysis. The results of cluster analysis showed that the sediment grouped into five groups showing clearly different in the characteristics of the sediment between the stations in this area.Keywords: Vertical Distribution, Sediment, Bengkalis Strait, characteristics
