Abstract

Limbah pelepah sawit (LPS) dihasilkan secara periodik dari perkebunan kelapa sawit. Keberadaan LPS ini berpeluang digunakan sebagai bahan baku adsorben. LPS telah diubah menjadi arang aktif pelepah sawit (APS) melalui langkah karbonisasi pada temperatur 600oC selama waktu bervariasi (30, 60, dan 120 menit). APS yang diperoleh dilakukan analisis kadar air, abu dan zat menguap. APS juga dikarakterisasi dengan FTIR untuk menentukan gugus fungsi, keasaman permukaan dengan tirasi Bhoem serta SEM untuk mendeteksi morfologi permukaan. Kemampuan APS untuk menjerap asam lemak bebas (ALB) dari CPO dipelajari pada waktu adsorpsi dan dosis adsorben yang bervariasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua APS memiliki kadar air, abu dan zat menguap yang sangat rendah, sehingga memenuhi SNI 06-3730-1995. Gugus fungsi yang dimiliki APS di antaranya C-O, O-H, C-O-C, C=O, C-C (aromatik) dan C-H. APS mengandung 14 mmolg-1 total asam dengan mayoritas asam fenolat sebanyak 12,3 mmolg-1, sisanya sebagai asam karboksilat dan laktonat. Morfologi permukaan arang aktif membentuk rongga-rongga dengan ukuran yang semakin besar dan tersusun rapat seiring dengan lamanya waktu karbonisasi. Hasil uji adsorpsi ALB yang paling baik ditunjukkan oleh APS60 yang mampu menjerap hingga 77,8% ALB pada waktu adsorpsi 60 menit dan 1 g  dosis adsorben. Dengan demikian, LPS layak dikembangkan menjadi arang aktif dan digunakan sebagai adsorben untuk mengurangi kadar asam lemak bebas dalam CPO.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to improve students’ ability in writing narrative text in English by using picture series media. The object of this study is the Eighth grade students of one-roof Junior High School Teratak Baru Kuantan Hilir district. This study used the quantitative classroom action research which was carried out in 2 cycles, in this study the data collection technique used observation and tests (pre-test and post-test). The result of this study showed that there is an increasing in learning by students of eighth grade, consequently it can be concluded that by utilizing picture series media can improve students’ ability in writing English narrative text. It can be seen from the result of the average post-test in cycle 2 of 80 increased to85. The result of the observation showed that the teacher’s activities in teaching increased in both early condition in the cycle I and cycle II.

Abstract

This paper aimed to develop the tourism potential of Sepahat Village, Bandar Laksamana District, Bengkalis Regency, what has been carried out, the obstacles are faced, and guidance efforts are carried out to support the realization of a tourist village, as well as recommendations that can be undertaken in the future. This community service activity used several methods, namely FGD, consultation, mentoring, and training. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted between the companion team (community service) with a team of cross-disciplinary and cross-university experts who were concerned and experienced in developing and assisting the fostered village and tourism village. FGD was also undertaken with the village head and local community leader. Consultation was carried out between local business actors, village head and community service team. Assistance was carried out between business actors directly related or as a support to tourism activities with local groups. The exploration of new economic potential in developing tourist villages, adding to the existing potential on the coast with peat soil, identifying a number of activities to encourage the realization of tourism villages, active participation and strong support from the society and local officials, gathering of society in tourism awareness groups, and also received a number of policy proposals to strengthen tourism village institutions.

Abstract

In early 2020, the world was shocked by the outbreak of new pneumonia that started in Wuhan, Hubei Province which then spread rapidly to more than 190 countries and territories. This outbreak is named coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) which is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). People are not aware that their hands are often contaminated with bacteria and viruses during their activities. One of the simplest ways and can be done to prevent this is to wash your hands using soap or antiseptic, hand sanitizer. Washing your hands can reduce the number of bacteria by up to 58%. The advantages of hand sanitizers can kill germs in a relatively fast time. The active ingredients of hand sanitizers are generally alcohol group compounds with a concentration of ± 60% to 80% and the phenol group (triclosan) so that they have a mechanism of action by denaturing and coagulating cell protein germs. Therefore, making hand sanitizers in simple stages can be done alone in community service activities. This service aims to find out how high public awareness is in dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak in everyday life. Evaluation of the service activities that will be carried out is to see how many people are aware of the importance of protecting themselves and the environment and maintaining distance in order to break the chain of spreading the virus.
