Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is the low of mathematical problem solving ability of first grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research are 1) to determine the significance of the improvement of mathematical problems solving ability of first grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru who were thought through problem based learning (PBL) model and saintific approach as usual learning; and 2) to determine the difference of the improvement mathematical problem solving ability of first grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru who were thought through PBL model and saintific approach as usual learning. This research used experiment and use design nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research is all of the first grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. Sample of this research consists of two classes, there are class VII6 as the class experiment and VII5 as the class control. The research instrument are the test of early mathematics ability obtained from the mean of daily test in odd semester and test of mathematical problem solving ability. The result of the early mathematics ability test is used to determination the class sample. Data were analyzed by normality test, homegenity of varians test, t-test, and Mann U Withney Test. The result showned that the improvement of mathematical problem solving ability of students who were thought through PBL model is higher than students who were thought through saintific approach as usual learning. The improvement of student’s mathematical problem solving ability through PBL model was categorized as medium while saintific approach was categorized as low.Key word: Problem Based Learning, Improvement of Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to improve the learning process and improve the student’s Mathematical Problem Solving Skill (MPSS) by applied Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study was Classroom Action Research with two cycles. This research conducted of class VIIIA2 MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru on first semester of academic year 2018/2019 wich consists of 28 female students with heterogeneous academic. The instruments used in this research were learning instruments and the instruments of collecting data. The learning instruments used include syllabus, lesson plan, and student work sheets, while the instruments of collecting data were observation sheets and MPSS test. After analysis of implementing the PBL model on students and teacher activity, the implementation of PBL mades students who are initially lazy and don’t want to try solving the problem became more interested in learning because the problem presented were related to daily life. The MPSS test data of analyzed students’ activity shows an improvement. In first test, three students were in low qualification and 25 students were in very low qualification. In first cycle the number of students in both qualifications decreased to 1 and 2 students respectively. In second cycle there are no more students who were in low qualification and very low qualification. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of PBL can improve learning process and student’s MPSS at class VIIIA2 MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru.Key Words: problem based learning, mathematical problem solving skill, learning process

Abstract

Absract : This study aims to improve the learning process and improve the student’s mathematical problem solving skill (MPSS) by applying Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Type of this research is Classroom Action Research with two cycles. This research conducted of class VII D SMPN 10 Tapung on first semester of academic year 2018/2019 wich consists of 32 students. The instruments used in this research were learning instruments and the instruments of collecting data. The learning instruments used include syllabus, lesson plan, and student work sheets. While the instruments of collecting data were observation sheets and MPSS test. Observation sheets were used to find out the data of students and teacher activity during learning process with techniques in this study are descriptive narrative analysis of qualitative data. MPSS test were used to collect the student’s MPSS data which would analyzed quantitatively. After analysis of implementing the PBL model on students and teacher activity, during the learning process student’s participation in learnig more active at each cycles. The MPSS test data of analyzed students’ activity shows an improvement. The mean of the student’s learning achievement for scores early 47,03 increase in cycle I which is 67,14 had improved to 78,13 in cycle II. Improvement of stundent’s learning achievement four each indicator of MPSS identifying for problem, planning problem solving, implement plan to solve the problem, and check results and solusion. This study concludes that the implementation of PBL can improve learning process and student’s MPSS at class VII D SMPN 10 Tapung.Key Words: problem based learning, mathematical problem solving skill, learning process

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is the result of learning mathematics of class student VIII3 SMP Negeri 3 Siak Kecil which is still under the minimum mastery criteria (MMC) with a persentage of 48, 15 % only 13 students from 27 students who achieve the minimum mastery criteria on the subject matter of the two variable linear equation system. The purpose of this research aims to improve the learning process and increase the student’s mathematics learning outcomes through the implementation of the Cooperative learning of Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) type. This type of research is the Classroom Action Research with two cycle, who conducted in class VIII3 SMP Negeri 3 Siak Kecil in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. Research subject as many 27 students, consist of 14 boys and 13 girls. The research instrument consists of learning devices and instrument data collectors. Learning device used is Syllabus, Lesson Plan and Worksheet. The instrument data collector used in this research is the observation sheet and math achievement test. The observation sheet was analyzed whit descriptive qualitative while the test of mathematics learning outcomes was analyzed statistically. Based on deskriptive qualitative analiysis showed that implementation of learning process on cycle II had happened improvement from implementation on cycle I. Weakness on cycle I is improved on implementation cycle II according with planning of improvement after reflection cycle I. Number of students that reach MMC increase from basic score to daily test II. The number of students who reach Minimum Mastery Criteria on basic scor, daily test I and daily test II are respectively 13 person (48,15 %), 18 person (66,66 %) and 23 person (85,18%). Results of this research indicates that application of the Cooperative learning of STAD type can improve learning process and increase mathematics learning outcomes from the students at class VIII3 SMP Negeri 3 Siak Kecil the second semester academic years 2018/2019.Key Words: Math Learning outcomes, Cooperative Learning of STAD type,Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

Absract: This research was based on the students achievement in learning mathematics especially grade VII.1 of SMPN 5 Teluk Kuantan under the Mastery Minimum Criteria with percentage of 44.8% on the subject matter about fractions. The research conducted was the Classroom Action Research. The aims of this research is to improve the learning process and results on the students learning mathematic by implementing cooperative learning model structural approach of Numbered Heads Together. There were 29 students in the class consisting 22 boys and 7 girls as the participant of this research. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and students Mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in qualitative desciptive, while the students’ Mathematic tests were analyzed in quantitative desciptive. The qualitative desciptive showed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and second cycles.. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students learning Mathematic from the basic score with percentage 44,8% to 58,6% on the first test and 82,7% on second test. Based on the result of this research could be concluded that the implementation of Cooperative Learning Model structural approach of Numbered Heads Together can improve the students’ achievement of learning Mathematic in grade VII.1 of SMPN 5 Teluk Kuantan in the second semester academic years 2014/2015.Keywords: Students Math Achievement, Cooperative Learning Model Structural Approach of Numbereed Heads Together, Clasroom Action Research.

Abstract

Abstrack: The background of this study is students low mathematice achievement of X grade at SMK Kesehatan pro-skill Indonesia. This research conducted in second semester of academic years 2016/2017. The aimed of study is to find out whether there is significant effect of using “Kancing Gemerincing” as a technique in cooperative learning (STAD) toward mathematice achievements of students grade X at SMK Kesehatan pro-skill Indonesia. The study employed the pre-experimental research focus on post-test in control group design. The sampling of technique was purposive. There were two sampling in this study; the experimental class was using “kancing gemerincing” as a technique and the control class with conventional learning. The instruments in this research are the results of students test and the observation sheet of teacher and students activities. The finding of this research showed experimental class better than control class. So, it can be concluded there was effect of using “kancing gemerincing” as a technique in cooperative learning (STAD) toward mathematice achievements of students grade X at SMK Kesehatan pro-skill Indonesia.Key Word : The result of mathematical, “Kancing Gemerincing” as a technique,cooperative learning (STAD), pre-experimental research.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to develop mathematics learning device that are Lesson Plan (LP) and Students Worksheet (SW) based curriculum 2013 on subject quadrilateral through the application of problem based learning. This research and development use development model by Borg and Gall modified by Sugiyono (2008). Development is done through the following steps: (1) potentials and problems; (2) data collection; (3) design products: (4) validation; (5) revision; (6) small group trial; (7) revision; (8) large group trial; and (9) revision. At the stage of potentials and problems, the researchers conducted a needs analysis concluded Core Competence (CC) - Basic Competence (BC) analysis, characteristics of students analysis, and materials analysis. Then, researcher collect the necessary materials to design learning device. Learning device that had been developed then validated by three validators and revised based on the input from validators. The valid learning device then tested in two stages, the small group trial with subjects are eight students of class VII-4 SMP Negeri 3 Tambang and large group trial with subjects are 29 students of class VII-4 SMP Negeri 3 Tambang. Based on the data analysis and discussion can be concluded that the mathematics learning device based curriculum 2013 on subject quadrilateral through the application of problem based learning are valid with an average value for the LP is 3.79 and the average value for SW is 3.82, and is practical to use by learners class VII.Keywords: Mathematics Learning Device, Curriculum 2013, Research and Development, Problem Based Learning, Quadrilateral

Abstract

Soft Skill-based Metacognitive Learning (SSML) and Metacognitive Learning (ML) demandthe students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their learning process and activity in solving problems. Thisstudy is a quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test design. The aim of this research is to know the enhancement of Junior High School students’ abilities in mathematical representation ability (MRA).The population in this study is the students of Junior High School in Pekanbaru city. The sample consistof 202 students, 104 of them are from the high-level school, and 98 students are from the middle-levelschool. The instruments used in this study are mathematical prior knowledge (MPK) test, MRA test,instruction observation papers, students journal about the lesson, and the guideline for the interview.The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA. The result of dataanalysis indicates that: (1) overall, the enhancement of students’ MRA with SSML and ML approachsignificantly is higher than those with conventional learning (CL); (2) there is no interaction between thelearning approach (SSML, ML, and CL) with the school level (high and middle) toward the enhancementof MRA; (3) there is an interaction between the learning approach with MPK toward the enhancementof MRA.Keywords: mathematical representation ability, soft skill-based metacognitive learning.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was based on the students’ math achievement at class VIII2 SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru under the Mastery Minimum Criteria with percentage of 37,5%, there are only 15 students from 40 students who achieve the Basic competence completing mathematical models of the problems associated with systems of linear equations of two variables and their interpretation and then the learning process still teacher center. The research is classroom action research. This research aims to increase learning process and students’ math achievement at class VIII2 SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru through the implentation cooperative learning model Two Stay Two Stray. The subject of the research are 24 students from class VIII2 SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru consist of 19 male and 21 female students with the heterogenous level. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and students Mathematic tests. The observation sheets were analyzed in qualitative descriptive, while the students’ Mathematic tests were analyzed in quantitative descriptive. The qualitative descriptive showed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and second cycle. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students’ math achievement from the basic score with the percentage 37,5% to 52,8% on the first daily test and 62,5% on the second daily test. Based on the result of this research can be concluded that the implementation of Cooperative Learning Type Two Stay Two Stray can improve students’ math achievement at class VIII2 SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru in the second semester 2015/2016 academic years.Key Word : Students’ Math Achievement, Cooperative Learning Model Two Stay Two Stray, Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

Abstract:This research is a development research that aims to produce learning tools, namely syllabus, lesson plans and student activity sheets (LAS) using the Problem Based Learning model with an open ended approach on the material of the Three Variable Linear Equation System for class X SMA/MA. This research is motivated by the importance of learning tools so that the arrangement is carried out as a form of planning from the steps of the learning process which are structured according to the objectives to be achieved. The development model used is the 4D model which consists of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instruments used in this study were validation sheets and student response questionnaires. The learning tools that have been developed are validated by three validators and revised according to the validator's suggestions. The average validation score for the syllabus was 90.69%, RPP was 95.89%, and LAS was 93.23% with very valid categories. The results of this validation indicate that the syllabus, lesson plans, and LAS are feasible to be tested. The valid LAS was then tried out in small groups. The average result of the small group trial for LAS was 3.56 in the very practical category. Based on data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the syllabus, lesson plans and LAS developed using the Problem Based Learning model with the Open Ended approach in the material of the Three Variable Linear Equation System for class X SMA/MA have met the valid and practical criteria.Keywords : Learning Tools, Problem Based Learning Model, Open Ended Approach, ThreeVariable Linear Equation System, 4D Development Model.
