Abstract

Soft Skill-based Metacognitive Learning (SSML) and Metacognitive Learning (ML) demandthe students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their learning process and activity in solving problems. Thisstudy is a quasi-experiment with pre-test and post-test design. The aim of this research is to know the enhancement of Junior High School students’ abilities in mathematical representation ability (MRA).The population in this study is the students of Junior High School in Pekanbaru city. The sample consistof 202 students, 104 of them are from the high-level school, and 98 students are from the middle-levelschool. The instruments used in this study are mathematical prior knowledge (MPK) test, MRA test,instruction observation papers, students journal about the lesson, and the guideline for the interview.The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA. The result of dataanalysis indicates that: (1) overall, the enhancement of students’ MRA with SSML and ML approachsignificantly is higher than those with conventional learning (CL); (2) there is no interaction between thelearning approach (SSML, ML, and CL) with the school level (high and middle) toward the enhancementof MRA; (3) there is an interaction between the learning approach with MPK toward the enhancementof MRA.Keywords: mathematical representation ability, soft skill-based metacognitive learning.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by the low of learning achievements of students of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru. This research is aimed at improving the student learning achievements by using the Discovery Learning model. This classroom action research was conducted in VII.6 class of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru in the first semester of the school year 2019/2020. The subjects of this research were grade VII.6 of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru that consists of 38 students with 16 were male and 22 were female. The study was done in two cycles with each cycle consisting of three meetings and one repetition every day. The instruments of this research were a learning device and a data collection. The learning tools consist of syllabus, Lesson Plan (RPP) and Student Worksheet (LKPD). The observation sheets and test results of learning were used as the instruments collection. Based on data analysis of the teacher and the student activity, it found that there is an improvement in the learning process after the Discovery Learning model was applied. The results of the students' mathematics test demonstrate that the number of students in knowledge competence decreased in frequency at low intervals and very low intervals from the basic score (5 learners) to the UH I score (2 learners) and to the UH II score ( 0 students) and an increase in the frequency of students at high and very high intervals from the base score (13 learners) to the UH score I (21 learners) and to the UH II score (24 learners). In the competence of skills there is a decrease in frequency at low and very low intervals from the base score (20 learners) to the UH I score (18 learners) and to the UH score II (10 learners) and an increase in the frequency of learners at high and high intervals once from the base score (3 learners) to the UH score I (5 learners) and to the UH score II (10 learners). The results of this research indicate that the application of the Discovery Learning model can improve the learning process and improve mathematics learning achievements of students in class VII6 of SMP Negeri 12 PekanbaruKeywords: Classroom Action Research, Discovery Learning Model, Mathematics Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted due to limited mathematics learning devices that corresponds to The 2013 Curriculum. This research aims to produce learning devices by Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on Linear Program material of class XI. The development model used is 4-D that consist of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instrument used is validity device and practicality device. The validity device is a validation sheets to asses the feasibility learning device form syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), and student worksheet (LKPD). The practicality device is practically sheets towards use student worksheets. The learning device developed are validated by three validators. The research trials were conducted in MAN 2 Pekanbaru which is tested in a small group and large group. Based on data analysis, it can be conclude that the average value of syllabus, lesson plan, and student worksheet are 3,62; 3,59; 3,55 that are in very valid category. The student worksheets valued as very practical with mean score for small group and large group testing are 3,51 and 3,49 that are in very practical category. This Research and Development aims to produce learning device by PBL model on Linear Program material of class XI in high school consist of valid syllabus, and lesson plan, and valid too practical for student worksheets.Key Words: Learning Device, Promblem Based Learning Model, 4-D Model

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to increase learning process and students’ mathachievement at class VIII6 SMPN 20 Pekanbaru through the implentation realisticmathematics education approach in cooperative learning model of STAD. The subjectwere 40 students from class VIII6 SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru consist of 17 male and 32female students with the heterogeneus level. This study used classroom action researchThe instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and studentsMathematic tests. The data which collected were analyzed with descriptive analyzedstatistically. From analyzed of teacher and students activity in the learning processshowed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and secondcycle. The result of this research showed an increasing number of students’ mathachievement from the basic score 37.5% to 50% on the first daily test and 62.5% on thesecond daily test. Based on the result of this research can be concluded that theimplentation realistic mathematics education approach in cooperative learning modelof STAD can improve students’ math achievemsent at class VIII6 SMPN 20 Pekanbaruin the second semester academic years 2013/2014.Key Word : Students’ Math Achievement, Realistic Mathematics Education, CooperativeLearning Model of STAD, Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

Abstract : This research is classroom action research which aims to improve the learning process and the result of learning mathematics by applying Discovery Learning (DL) model. The subject of this research were the first semester students of class VII1 SMPN 9 Pekanbaru academic year 2018/2019 consisting of 20 male and 20 female students. Instruments on this reserach constisted of syllabus, lesson plans and worksheets; and instruments of data collection which is observation sheets and the test result sheets. The function of observation sheet is to obtain data from the learning process and analyzed in a narrative descriptive, while the function of results sheet of the mathematics learning tests is to obtain the results of the study and analyzed in statistics descriptive. From narrative descriptive analysis can be seen that there was improvement of learning process from before action in cycle I to cycle II. From statistic deskriptive analysis can be seen an increase in the number of students who reach the minimum criteria of mastery learning. The learning result of the student experience an increase from the basic score the Cycle I and Cycle II. On the knowledge competence, from the basic score with percentage 52,5% experience improvement in Cycle I with percentage 80% and 95% in Cycle II. On the skills competence, the number of students who reach the minimum criteria of mastery learning from Cycle I with percentage 85% improve to 95% in cycle II. Based on the results of this research can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning (DL) model can improve the learning achievement of the first semester students of class VII1 SMPN 9 Pekanbaru academic year 2018/2019.Key Words: mathematics learning achievement, discovery learning model, classroom action research

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes in fifth grade students of SD 80 Bumbung by implementing cooperative learning model Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD). The subjects in this study were fifth grade students consisting of 12 male and 13 female with the heterogeneous academic ability. This research is a class act consisting of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three meetings and one-time Daily Deuteronomy (UH) which was held at the end of each cycle. This study also consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The result of observations indicate the teachers and students activities have performing well after the action. After UH held at the end of the cycle, the number of students who achieve a score is increase of KKM compare to the basic score. With this increasing, the results of research carried out showed that the implementation of STAD cooperative learning model to improve mathematics learning outcomes in fifth grade students of SD 80 Bumbung in the odd semester of the academic year 2013/2014.Keywords: Learning Processes, Results Learning Mathematics, Cooperative Learning, STAD, Classroom Action Research

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a class action research that aims to improve the learning process and to increase the student’s mathematics learning outcomes by applying learning cycle “6E”. The subjects of this research are the student of class XI Science I MAN 1 Pekanbaru at first semester of academic years 2015/2016, which amounts to 31 students consist of 13 male and 18 female students with the heterogenous level. This research consists of two cycles, each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments of data collection in this research were observation sheets and students Mathematic tests. The data which collected were analyzed with descriptive analyzed statistically. The action is successful if the scores of teacher’s activities and student’s activities increase in every meeting, improve students’ math achievemsent. From analyzed of teacher and students activity in the learning process showed an improvement of learning process prior to the action on the first and second cycle. The result of this research showed an increasing number of students’ math achievement from the basic score 29 % to 54,8 % on the first daily test and 64,5 % on the second daily test. Based on the result of this research can be concluded that the implentation learning cycle “6E” models can improve students’ math achievemsent at class XI Science I MAN 1 Pekanbaru at first semester of academic years 2015/2016.Key words: Students’ Math Achievement, Learning Cycle “6E”

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve learning process and to increase the mathematic learning evaluation by implying cooperative learning of Talking Stick. The subjects of this research are student in grade VIIID of SMP Islam Terpadu Bangkinang at the second semester of academic year 2015/2016. Total number of participant are 23 whose academic achievement are heterogen. This research have 2 cycles, each cycle have four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Each cycle closed by daily exam. The data collected by observation and examination at daily based. The data analised by narative descriptive analysis and statistical descriptive analysis. The implementation succes if the improvement of the learning process and the number of students reach KKM increase at daily examination I and daily examination II. The research result from the observation form shows that teacher and student activity are better after the treatment implemented. More than half students actively participated in the learning process, as discuss, presented LKS, responded to presenter group, and gave the learning conclusion. The students also tried to solve the quiz from teacher in a great manner. The number of students whose achieved basic score of KKM,; daily examination I (first cycle), and daily examination II (second cycle) are 21.74%, 39.13% and 60.87%. This research shows that cooperative learning of Talking Stick can improve learning process and increase mathematic learning evaluation for VIIID of SMP Islam Terpadu Bangkinang.

Abstract

Absract : This study aims to improve the learning process and improve the student’s mathematical problem solving skill (MPSS) by applying Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Type of this research is Classroom Action Research with two cycles. This research conducted of class VII D SMPN 10 Tapung on first semester of academic year 2018/2019 wich consists of 32 students. The instruments used in this research were learning instruments and the instruments of collecting data. The learning instruments used include syllabus, lesson plan, and student work sheets. While the instruments of collecting data were observation sheets and MPSS test. Observation sheets were used to find out the data of students and teacher activity during learning process with techniques in this study are descriptive narrative analysis of qualitative data. MPSS test were used to collect the student’s MPSS data which would analyzed quantitatively. After analysis of implementing the PBL model on students and teacher activity, during the learning process student’s participation in learnig more active at each cycles. The MPSS test data of analyzed students’ activity shows an improvement. The mean of the student’s learning achievement for scores early 47,03 increase in cycle I which is 67,14 had improved to 78,13 in cycle II. Improvement of stundent’s learning achievement four each indicator of MPSS identifying for problem, planning problem solving, implement plan to solve the problem, and check results and solusion. This study concludes that the implementation of PBL can improve learning process and student’s MPSS at class VII D SMPN 10 Tapung.Key Words: problem based learning, mathematical problem solving skill, learning process

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to develop mathematics learning device that are Lesson Plan (LP) and Students Worksheet (SW) based curriculum 2013 on subject quadrilateral through the application of problem based learning. This research and development use development model by Borg and Gall modified by Sugiyono (2008). Development is done through the following steps: (1) potentials and problems; (2) data collection; (3) design products: (4) validation; (5) revision; (6) small group trial; (7) revision; (8) large group trial; and (9) revision. At the stage of potentials and problems, the researchers conducted a needs analysis concluded Core Competence (CC) - Basic Competence (BC) analysis, characteristics of students analysis, and materials analysis. Then, researcher collect the necessary materials to design learning device. Learning device that had been developed then validated by three validators and revised based on the input from validators. The valid learning device then tested in two stages, the small group trial with subjects are eight students of class VII-4 SMP Negeri 3 Tambang and large group trial with subjects are 29 students of class VII-4 SMP Negeri 3 Tambang. Based on the data analysis and discussion can be concluded that the mathematics learning device based curriculum 2013 on subject quadrilateral through the application of problem based learning are valid with an average value for the LP is 3.79 and the average value for SW is 3.82, and is practical to use by learners class VII.Keywords: Mathematics Learning Device, Curriculum 2013, Research and Development, Problem Based Learning, Quadrilateral
