Abstract

This study aims to compare: (1) High-level thinking skills and (2) Retention ofstudents' memory in respiratory system material in humans who are taught by usingpower point media and learning video media on respiratory system material in humans.This quasi-experimental study was conducted at SD RK No. 3 Sibolga City, with asample of 2 classes determined by cluster random sampling technique. The results of thestudy showed: (1) the high-level thinking skills of students who were taught with learningvideo media were better than students who were taught with power point media (63.06:56.96) which were significantly statistically significant (t = 2.100; p = 0.040), likewise(2) memory retention of students taught with learning video media is better than studentstaught with power point media (83.28: 78.03) which is significantly different (t = 2.728; p= 0.008 ) It is expected that the teacher can use learning video media in the material ofhuman respiratory system in an effort to improve students 'high-level thinking skills andstudents' natural science memory retention.

Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk melihat efektivitas penggunaan laboratorium virtual untuk praktikum fisika umum di Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Medan. Untuk melihat tingkat efektivitas penggunaan laboraotrium virtual digunakan metode deskriptif dengan menerapkan pendekatan kuesioner (angket). Laboratorium Virtual mempermudah mahasiswa untuk melakukan praktikum fisika umum selama pembelajaran online. Media laboratorium virtual untuk praktikum fisika umum cukup efektiv. Kondisi ini dapat dilihat dari tanggapan responden terhadap video praktikum dan efektivitas penggunaan laboratorium virtual yang digunakan pada praktikum fisika umum. Hasil ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan kajian selanjutnya dan menjadi rujukan untuk perbaikan. Sehingga laboratorium virtual fisika umum dapat dipergunakan pada pembelajaran online dan tatap muka (blended learning).

Abstract

This study aims to find out the feasibility of tissue culture books based on scientific literacy on the topic of tissue culture media and protoplast culture. The subjects in this study were lecturers of tissue culture courses and students majoring in Biology at Universitas Negeri Medan. This research is a study using the Dick and Carrey model which reaches the eighth step, namely formative evaluation where the process or program is considered complete. The results showed that (1) the assessment of material experts based on content, the suitability of the material with basic competencies and scientific literacy components obtained an average score 3,69 or 92,3% with very worthy criteria, (2) teachers of learning design experts based on material, systematic delivery of material, the efficiency of tissue culture and linguistic books obtained an average score 3,26 or 81,5% with worthy criteria, (3) an assessment by an expert lecturer on book layout design based on the cover design and book content design obtained an average score 3,77 or 94,2% with very worthy criteria, (4) the assessment by the lecturer in the tissue culture course obtained an average score 3,80 or 94,8% with very worthy criteria and (5) the assessment by students obtained an average score 3,52 or 90,6% included the very worthy criteria. So it can be said that the tissue culture textbook based on science literacy that has been developed is feasible according to material expert lecturers, learning designs, book layout designs, lecturers in tissue culture courses and students so that tissue culture books based on scientific literacy on the topic of tissue culture media and protoplast culture can used as a main/additional book for lecturers, students, readers in general and researchers who are interested in the field of tissue culture.

Abstract

Technological developments change the researchers and educators thinking towards online learning. Various innovations were carried out to support effective online learning which suitable with the student competencies. As there is urgency for carrying practicum activities to achieved Course Learning Achievement (Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah (CPMK)) for the basic chemistry subject, there is need to make some innovation, which is by making practicum video. It could stimulate students critical thinking because it was presented with visual representations. It could overcome the limitations of space and time and could be used repeatedly. The research type was Research and Development with the Borg and Gall development model. The final product will be disseminated through YouTube platform which is integrated with sipda.unimed.ac.id. Validation results in media design and material aspect showed that the product was declared very valid with an average value of 86.87 percent and 97.92 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the responses from 30 students showed that the product was very practical with an average score of more than 90 percent and was suitable with learning objectives of the basic chemistry course especially the periodic system of elements.

Abstract

Abstrak:Kegiatan laboratorium secara virtual pada mata kuliah Matematika Dasar di Fakultas MIPA Unimed dilakukan melalui simulasi interaktif pada topik pembahasan Integral Taktentu dan Integral Tentu. Simulasi interaktif tersebut disematkan pada LMS yang digunakan oleh Unimed dalam proses perkuliahan, yang disebut dengan Sistem Pembelajaran Daring (Sipda). Penelitian ini menunjukkan efektifitas penerapan laboratorium virtual melalui simulasi interaktif di mata kuliah Matematika Dasar pada masa pembelajaran daring. Efektivitas ditinjau dari dua pendekatan, yaitu kualitatif dan kuantitatif.  Secara kualitatif simulasi interaktif telah divalidasi oleh ahli media dan ahli materi. Kemudian simulasi tersebut diberikan kepada mahasiwa melalui LMS dan setelahnya mahasiswa diminta untuk mengisi angket respon dengan 5 rating scale skala Likert terhadap simulasi interaktif tersebut. Hasilnya adalah respon yang baik dari mahasiswa dengan rata-rata nilai angket 4,23. Secara kuantiatif dilakukan uji perbedaan peningkatakan nilai capaian pembelajaran antara mahasiswa yang diajarkan menggunakan simulasi interaktif dan mahasiswa yang diajarkan tanpa menggunakan simulasi interaktif. Data yang diperoleh diuji dengan uji-t melalui SPSS. Hasilnya terdapat perbedaan peningkatan capaian nilai pembelajaran secara signifikan antara mahasiswa yang diajarkan menggunakan simulasi interaktif dan mahasiswa yang diajarkan tanpa menggunakan simulasi interaktif. Sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa aktivitas laboratorium virtual melalui simulasi interaktif dapat dikatakan efektif.   Kata Kunci:Efektivitas laboratorium virtual, simulasi interaktif, Software Maple Abstract:Virtual laboratory activities in the Basic Mathematics course at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed) were carried out through interactive simulations on the topic of the Indeterminate Integrals and Improper Integrals. The interactive simulation is embedded in the LMS used by Unimed in the learning process, and this is called Sistem Pembelajaran Daring (Online Learning System). This study presents the effectiveness of implementing virtual laboratories through interactive simulations in a Basic Mathematics course during online learning. The effectiveness is seen from two approaches, namely qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitatively, the interactive simulation has been validated by media experts and material experts. Then, the simulation was carried out with students through LMS, and after that, the students were asked to fill out a response questionnaire related to the interactive simulation with a 5 rating Likert scale. The results indicate that good responses were obtained from students in that the average score reached 4,23. Quantitatively, a test of the difference in the increase in the value of learning achievement was carried out on students who were taught using interactive simulations, and students who were not taught using interactive simulations. The data obtained were tested by t-test through SPSS. The results show that there is a significant difference in the achievement of learning scores between students who were taught using interactive simulations and students who were not taught using interactive simulations. Abstract

The Auntentik Assessment Instrument is part of the achievement indicator in obtaining information to measure aspects of student knowledge in the learning process. The measurement process carried out for students in the assessment instrument both individually and in groups consists of three affective, psychomotor and cognitive aspects. Ethnobiological studies are part of the understanding of people's culture regarding the knowledge of plants. Science process skills activities are the implementation of an action carried out by students in practicum learning. The basis of the research objectives is to develop an assessment instrument on a high-level botanical practicum learning tool in measuring students' science process skills and measuring feasibility tests and limited tests of assessment instruments in the implementation of science process skills practicum learning activities. The implementation of the method in the research is a development method. The results of this study consist of three aspects of assessment from expert validation, namely aspects of content validity, presentation aspects and language aspects are declared feasible. Meanwhile, the student's response to the assessment instrument was stated to be good to use as a measuring tool in the assessment of students to carry out a high-level botanical practicum.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the learning style on science process skill and learning outcome class XI digestive system in State Senior High School of Kisaran, Asahan. This method applied a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. Samples were taken from four schools, each one class totaling 144 students by using purposive sampling. To obtain the data, the description test was used as a questionnaire to determine student learning styles. The high results are visual with a percentage of 38.19. Then the student science process skills instrument with indicators such as observing, classifying, interpreting, predicting, asking questions, hypothesizing, planning experiments, applying concepts, and communicating in biology learning. The results on science process skills of the digestive system material were categorized as good with a score of 82.06 and the highest indicator for observing obtained a mean score of 86.63.with a very good category and the lowest indicator for applying the concept obtained a score of 79.16 a good category. The learning result test obtained a score of 89,04with a very good category. The high score of C6 was obtained at 91.43. and lowest C5 obtained 72.22.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the learning styles on microbiology lectures for students in the new normal era. This study was a non-experimental with quantitative data. The population were all the third semester students majoring in Biology, Universitas Negeri Medan who studied microbiology consisting of 6 classes totaling 180 people. The sample consisted of 3 classes of 60 people who were taken randomly using random sampling technique. The data analysis technique was carried out using inferential statistics. The results showed that students’ visual learning style obtained 71%, audio learning style obtained 64% in the good category and kinesthetic learning style obtained 63% were all in the good category. Of the three learning styles, the highest percentage was found in the visual learning style.

Abstract

Using leaf explants, this research aimed at identifying the type of growth response that can be created and the optimal mix of media for the growth of Cattleya sp orchid. This was an experimental investigation employing the RAL method (completely randomized design) with a combination of 2.4-D (0;1; 2; 3 ppm) and Kinetin  (0;0.3;0.6 ppm) repeated three times. According to the results of this study, the growth regulators 2.4-D and kinetin  were unable to promote the development of all explants. Explants transferred to media containing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to prevent browning after 12 weeks of observation. Then the results of the study also found the emergence of shoots in the treatment P0 (control), P2 (2,4-D 0 + Kinetin  0.6 ppm), P8 (2,4-D 2 + Kinetin  0.6) and P11 (2.4- D 3 + K 0.6 ppm) in the 3rd week of observation, the appearance of callus at P5 (2.4-D 1 + Kinetin  0.6 ppm) in the 4th week of observation

Abstract

According to the analysis of student needs for sterilization material for tissue culture courses, it shows that learning media still has a limited role in the learning process. In terms of material and visualization, the learning media used cannot be explained in detail. Students still don't understand the material and really need Android-based learning media that is more flexible and well visualized. The purpose of this study was to find out the analysis of student needs, the design of instructional media, the level of feasibility of learning media from experts and the responses of lecturers and students as well as evaluations of students. The research method used is R&D, ADDIE Model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results of the study were 96.70% of students needed Android-based learning media, media content designs namely: Instructions for Use, CP-MK, References, Materials, Videos, Exercises, Developer Profiles and EXIT. The feasibility level of the media is categorized as very feasible, the results of material experts are 100%, media experts are 96.5% and learning design experts are 94.5%. then the lecturer response was 83% and the student response was 92.52% included in the very decent category. then the evaluation stage obtained an n-gain score of 0.60 categorized as quite effective. The limitation of the research problem is that the material developed is limited to the topic of tool sterilization for tissue culture courses and the development used is limited to the evaluation stage, namely the media effectiveness testing stage.
