Education from time to time continues to experience changes, because if there is no change then the quality of education will be questioned while the current demands of the times are increasing. This causes education as one of the pillars that must remain firmly standing in the face of every challenge that exists, dismissing all changes whose direction can make the bad nation's generation forget its existence as a change being. Education must come with different and more challenging concepts, faces, methods, and materials to increase students' thinking stimuli. In addition, education must be able to give joy, not sadness. The combination of media and IT in school learning is a scourge and at the same time an opportunity for educators. Becoming afraid on the part of some educators because of their weak mastery of IT so they seem to be strangers in the learning process. But it becomes an opportunity for people or educators who can integrate with IT. The presence of the system provides a new spirit in dealing with the new normal situation so that there are no more students who cannot study well because learning must continue with various consequences. Research focuses on digitizing learning and teaching materials so that students can more easily access the material. This research is an ADDIE Research and Development model which produces a prototype of a learning website that can and is easily accessed by teachers and students. When all stages in making this website are completed, the researcher will fully hand it over to the school to be managed and even developed. This research produces 5 F learning, Creative, Innovative, Solution, Interactive and productive which makes students and teachers feel happy and easy in carrying out the learning process and developing teaching materials.

Abstract

In English Learning Teaching (ELT), digital photographs are considered a compelling visual medium to help students write English texts. A writing skill is a capacity to convert ideas into complete, comprehensive and understandable sentences that may be used to convey those ideas to the reader effectively. The purpose of this research is to find out whether using digital photographs can improve students’ skills in writing descriptive texts or not. The researchers used a descriptive quantitative pre-experimental method by applying digital pictures to teach writing descriptive text. The sample of this research consists of thirty students at SMP Negeri 1 Pangsid, South Sulawesi. The result shows that students’ writing skills increased by using digital photographs. The results are indicated by the mean value of the pretest (44,73) and the posttest (82,93). After calculating the t-test, the researchers found that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Using digital photographs as a teaching and learning medium can improve students’ skills n writing descriptive texts. In other words, this medium eases the students in constructing their ideas through descriptive essays.

Abstract

Technology integration has begun to stir the education world particularly when COVID-19 hits the world. One of the popular learning modes during this unstable situation is flipped classroom in which class material is sent earlier to students via communication tools like WhatsApp or Telegram and will be discussed more in an online or offline class meeting. However, the implementation of this learning mode still lacks of research in terms of cognitive engagement and academic performance. In light of this issue, this study aims to research deeply the impact of the flipped classroom on students’ cognitive engagement and their academic performance in learning English particularly writing descriptive text in an outstanding class program. The subject in this research was 18 students of an outstanding class program in a private school in eastern region of Indonesia. Students learning results, observation and questionnaire were used to gather the data needed and then analyzed quantitatively. The findings showed students’ cognitive engagement needs to be encouraged to make them more active and enthusiastic to participate in the learning process. Whilst, the learning result revealed a slight improvement. In conclusion, flipped classroom in an outstanding class program may work well if it is implemented actively by all parties like teachers, students, and parents. We, therefore recommended doing further research on the issue of flipped classroom and learning achievement to enrich the world of education research.

Abstract

Research on speaking anxiety has often been the focus of research in language learning to date. This research topic is important to provide information about the level of anxiety they experience when speaking English and to what extent it impacts the quality of students' speaking. Therefore, implementing research is important for developing strategies for learning English according to the habits and challenges they experience. This study examines students' anxiety levels, especially during public speaking. Data was collected using the Public Speaking Class Anxiety Scale (PSCAS) questionnaire and then analyzed separately based on anxiety, communication apprehension, comfort in speaking English, and fear of negative evaluation. The results showed that 50% of students were at the medium level, 35% at the high level, and 15% at the low anxiety level. Anxiety arises from internal factors such as a tense and stiff body, a heart beating faster, and the inability to control body movements. External factors such as fear of being laughed at and getting a negative response from the public also cause anxiety. This study also found that the main causes of anxiety are lack of grammar knowledge, lack of vocabulary mastery, and failure to construct good sentences
