Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of students in learning vocabulary mastery after using the ostensive means that in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary, teachers can bring real objects according to the theme of lessons. This research focuses to noun (things at home, part of body, animal, and fruits). The researcher used the pre-xperimental method, consist of pre-test treatment, and post-test design, and collected the data by giving pre-test and posttest. The sample of the research was class VII SMPN 4 Malili which was 25 students. The sample that researcher used was purposive sampling technique. The result of the research was score in the pre-test was 41, and in the post-test was 75,44. In this research also show that The value t-test was higher than the value of the t-table (27,04>1.713 ). It mean that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded the implementation of ostensive means in VII grade of SMP Negeri 4 Malili was effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery consist noun

Abstract

This research aimed to verify whether the use of Spinning Wheel Media effective to bridging students’ speaking skill in term of pronunciation and vocabulary after being taught through Spinning Wheel Media at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu. The researcher applied pre-experimental method with one group pre-test post-test design and the data were collected by giving pre-test, treatment and post-test. The sample of the research was VII 3 of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu which consisted of 16 students. The population of this study was the first grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu which consisted of 296 students in the academic year of 2021/2022. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique to select the sample of the research. The technique used for obtaining data was speaking test. The research findings show that the mean score of the students in pronunciation is proved by post-test 53.12 is higher than the mean score of the students in pre-test 34.37. Mean score of the students vocabulary is proved by pre-test 42.18 and post-test 75 and the hypothesis t-test value were 6.54. It means that Ha is accepted. Based on the findings that there is significance difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. Spinning Wheel Media is very good in enhance the students speaking skill in terms of pronunciation and vocabulary.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the use of theme-based teaching in improving the students’ writing skills in SMKN 5 SELAYAR.This research was pre-experimental research using quantitative design in analyzing the data. The instrument used was writing test which contain pre-test, treatments and post-test. The population was tenth grade of SMKN 5 SELAYAR students and the sample was X. FAR class that was selected by using purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the research, it is found that the use of theme-based teaching can improve students' writing skills in terms of content, vocabulary and grammar in the form of descriptive text in class X FAR SMKN 5 SELAYAR. This is evidenced by the results of the students' scores. It can be seen from the average value of students that there is an increase of 21.1%. The pre-test was 67.03 which classified as good enough category and the post-test was 81.17 which classified as great category, the post-test score was higher than the pre-test. In addition, t-test value higher than the t- table value (12.415>1.699). It means that there is an improvement by using of theme-based teaching to improve the student' writing skills in descriptive text.
