Abstract

Snakehead fish (Channa striata) have high albumin content, a protein needed for cell development and the formation of new tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of snakehead fish extract emulgel given topically on incision wounds in white rats. The parameters of wound healing consist of wound length, a number of neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts and density of collagen. The white rats divide into three groups of (n = 6), one group was given the emulgel base as the negative control, one group of povidone-iodine as the positive control, and one group of snakehead fish extract 10% emulgel. White rats were sacrificed on the third and seventh days for microscopic observations. The results showed that snakehead fish extract emulgel can accelerate incision wound healing: decrease wound length, increase the number of neutrophil and macrophages cells, increase the average number of fibroblasts and increase collagen density on white rats.

Abstract

The aims of the research are to prove the anthelmintic effects of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves ethanol extract on Raillietina echinobothrida in vitro and to know the value of LC50 and LC90of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves ethanol extract. The research used completely randomized design. The research had five treatments and each treatment was done in four replications. The research used 5 Raillietina echinobothrida adult worms for each treatment and all replications. The observation and the recording were done at the first hour until the sixth hour of the research. The Raillietina echinobothrida adult worms were noted dead if there was no movement when they were disturbed by anatomic tweezer, the death of Raillietina echinobothrida were confirmed when they dipped mildly in warm water (50°C) and they showed no movements. The acquired data was analyzed using ANOVA and continued with LSD (5%). The results were Ocimum santum Linn. ethanol extract has the anthelmintic activity in 1.25%, 2.5%, 5% and 10% concentrations. The LC50 and LC90 was analyzed using probit analysis. The results of LC50 calculation were 7.8% at the third hour, 6% at the forth hour, 3.2% at the fifth hour, 2.5% at the sixth hour and the results of LC90 were 6.5% at the fifth hour, 5.2% at the sixth hour. The higher concentration of the extract, the higher anthelmintic activity worked.

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment was to know the effect of Mimosa pudica root extract (normal water extraction) on mortality and muscle histopatological in experimental animal (Rattus norvegicus) which injected with LD50 of Naja sputatrix venom. Fresh Mimosa pudica root dried without sunshine and ground into coarse powder with steamroller (mash 3mm). Plant extract were prepared by stirring 4 g of the powder into 200 ml of water for 3 hours at room temperature and filtered with muslin cloth before freezdried. 30 rat divided into five groups, P0(C+), P1(C-) P2, P3, and P4. P0 (positive control group) injected by saline intra muscular and given aquadest peroral after five minutes, P1 (negative control) injected with Naja sputatrix venom and given aquadest peroral after five minutes. P2, P3, and P4 injected by Naja sputatrix venom and given Mimosa pudica extract with 250mg/KgBW, 500mg/KgBW, and 1000mg/KgBW doses. All of the experimental animal observed about six hours and than euthanized, musculus gluteus maximus (location of injection) was taken for histopatological examination. In this experiment observed that the normal water extraction of mimosa pudica can’t reduce mortality of experimental animals but it can decrease muscle damage in 1000mg/KgBW dose.
