Abstract

Degradation of environmental quality has become a global issue in the last decade. Industrial activity is one of the majorcauses of climate change and global warming. Governments in several countries have developed policies to reduce carbon emissions from industrial activity. The development and the use of innovative green technology products can be an alternative to reduce the impact of global warming due to carbon emissions from the industry. Adoption of green technology in the FMCG industry has become an interesting issue since it deals with the optimization of production costs and reduction of product prices that characterize the FMCG industry. This paper presents an overview of the adoption of green technology in the FMCG industry in Indonesia. A case study was conducted in one of the largest FMCG companies in Indonesia. The application of green technology is presented in the form of a technology roadmap for ten-year period between 2010 and 2020. The results showed that the adoption of green technology is the companys response to government policies and international regulations related to the environmental issues. The whole supply chain units of the company both internal and external, are involved in the adoption of green technology, while the technology itself comes from external source. The adoption of green technology has given some benefits to the company in the form of a decrease of environmental impacts caused by carbon emissions and hazardous waste. Another benefit is the adoption process increases the efficiency of production cost from economizing water and electricity uses. The indirect benefit from the adoption of green technology is the increasing company competitiveness through technological mastery and strong position of product in national FMCG market.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sodium Carboxymethyl  Cellulose (CMC Na) commonly used as  binder  on toothpaste becauseits has good viscosity. The active ingredient of two type of toothpaste is ethanol extract of guava leaves (EEDJB) and ethanol extract of red betel leaf (EEDSM), respectively which has the potential for antiplaque on teeth. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of variations concentration of CMC Naagainst  physical characteristics  from  toothpaste EEDJB and EEDSM. EEDJB and EEDSM  had made by maceration method  using ethanol 70%  as a solvent. Three different concentrations of CMC Naof  toothpaste formulation EEDJB are FI (0.5%); FII (0.75%); FIII (1.00%) and EEDSM are FI (0.45%); FII (0.67%); FIII (0.90%). Toothpaste of EEDSM and EEDJB  had  tested against its physical characteristics. Based on theexperimental results of toothpaste formulations EEDJB and EEDSM states that the higher concentration of CMC  Na hadn’t affect the organoleptic and foaming test, but the viscosity becomes higher and  the potency dispersive of becomes  decreases. Value  of  viscosity (dPas) toothpaste EEDJB for FI (123,33 ± 5,77); FII (256,67 ± 20,81); FIII (283,33 ± 10,40), while  toothpaste EEDSM for FI (125±5); FII (250±25); FIII (316,6± 28,87. The average of the potency dispersive  (cm2) of  toothpaste EEDJB with a load of 150 grams for F1 (1,75); F2 (1,21); F3 (0,89), while toothpaste EEDSM with a load of 150 grams for F1 (1,64); F2 (1,26); F3 (0,73). Abstract

Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht f. sp. cubense (Foc) is the causal pathogen of wilt disease of banana. Abilities of  biocontrol agents Bacillus sp. 140-B and Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW to control Foc infection in banana were studied. Application of Bacillus sp. 140-B and Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW as single isolate or their combination in banana were tested under greenhouse conditions for 30 days. The aims of this study were to evaluate the potential of  Bacillus sp. 140-B and Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW as biocontrol agents in banana. Treatments of biocontrol showed significant effect on the reduction of foc infection diseases of banana, compared to control. The lowest disease severity was found on the treatment of single isolate Streptomyces sp.L.3.1-DW with infection degree of 29,33%. Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW could suppress Foc population (6,25 x 105 CFU/ml) in rhizosphere area after 30 days innoculation. Bacillus sp. 140-B and Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW were also act as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), that indicated by improvement of banana growth, in which Streptomyces L.3.1-DW caused the highest growth of banana either with or without Foc infection.  This study indicated that Bacillus sp. 140-B and Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW have potential as alternative solutions to control Fusarium wilt in banana var. Cavendish. Keywords: Bacillus sp. 140-B, banana, biocontrol, Foc, PGPR, Streptomyces sp. L.3.1-DW.

Abstract

Growth Capacity of Soil Bacteria Isolates Obtained from Estate Area from Media Containing Propoxur and Carbaryl. Isolation actions have been carried out with three soil samples derived from soil estate of pine apple, sugar cane, and banana in Lampung area, Southern Sumatra. The isolates were grown in the selected media containing carbaryl insecticide, and herbicide of diuron and bromocyl. The highest and vigorous growth isolates have gathered from threedifferent soil samples, and subsequently named GGPC, GM, and NTF isolates. Furthermore, those isolates were studied through the growth rate in the media containing propoxur and carbaryl in the nutrient rich liquid (NB) and compared to limited mineral (MM). All of the isolates grew faster against pesticides in the liquid medium of NB compared to MM. High correlated value among parameters nurtured as due to bacterial population and those processes were not affected by media composition. The GM isolate showed similar pattern during propoxur decrease along with incubation even though the rate of pesticide elimination from the media was higher in the rich nutrient liquid media (NB) compared to MM.Keywords: microbe isolate, pesticide, propoxur, carbaryl

Abstract

Green bean plants are still used as side plants, yet the technique of green bean cultivation has not been done optimally. The advantages of green bean plants is that the plant can be planted in less fertile soil conditions such as Ultisols. This srtudy was aimed to elucidate the effect of application biofertilizer (plant growth proting rhizobacteria (PGPR) on growth of geen bean on an Ultisol. Treatments tested were combinations of soil (soil only =T1, soil + kompos =T2), and biofertilizer (H0=no bifertilizer, H1: biofertilizer of formula 1, H2: biofrtilizer of formula 2, and H3: Beyonic StarTmik biofertilizer). Results of the study showed that T2H2 treatment could increase population of N fixing bacteria, respiration, soil pH, and soil enzymes, T2H0 treatment could increase C-organic (5.46%), and T2H3 treatment could increase available N in the soil. T2H3 treatment gave the best growth of geen bean.

Abstract

Rhizosphere bacteria isolated from the soil were screened and characterized based on their ability as PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) bacteria. The biofertilizer formula made from this bacteria was be applied to the marginal Ultisols collected from the Cibinong Science Center area and tested for its potential on the growth of red chili plants. The treatments tested were Formula 1, Formula 2, POH StartMik, inorganic fertilizer, and control. The results showed the ability of the formulas 1 and 2 to provide nutrients, especially P for the growth of red pepper plant. Formula 2 could increase P nutrient by 90.91 mg kg-1, provide available P by 86.0 mg kg-1 and PMEase enzyme activity was also available at 54.26 mg kg-1.

Abstract

Physiological characters of four denitrifying bacteria (Bacillus sp. CPNS, Bacillus thuringiensis UPT1, Brevundimonas diminuta EA1 and Bacillus sp. UPSB) were studied based on the growth ability on various nitrate concentrations and the production of N2O gas. The characters of denitrifying bacteria were also evaluated through the existence of functional genes nirS and nosZ, encoding the nitrite reduction and nitrous oxide reduction enzymes which have important role on denitrification processes. The study showed that Bacillus sp. UPSB and Bacillus sp. CPNS isolates have a linear growth with the increasing concentration of KNO3. The N2O gas production of Bacillus sp. UPSB isolate was relatively high, about 70 ?/l, Bacillus sp. CPNS isolate was 25?/l, while the Bacillus thuringiensis UPT1 isolate was 5 ?/l and Brevundimonas diminuta EA1 isolate was 8 ?/l. It was also indicated that both Bacillus sp. UPSB and Bacillus sp. CPNS had high deninitrification activities. It was confirmed that all isolates were contained functional gen of nirS and nosZ.

Abstract

Tanah gambut di Indonesia seluruhnya ditaksir mencapai 16-27,7 juta ha yang tersebar sebagian besar di kepulauan Sumatera, Kalimantan, Jawa/bali, Maluku/Nusa Tenggara dan Irian Jaya. Tanah gambut di Indonesia umumnya mendominasi wilayah sepanjang pantai, serta belum ada diperoleh data yang jelas mengenai jumlah luas tanah gambut atas dasar bahan asal, cara pembentukan, jenis pelapukan dan ketebalan bahan organiknya. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah metode pemanasan sample tanah dalam muffle furnance selama 1 jam dengan temperature 25” (control), 175"C (Dehidrasi sempurna dari sample), 325”C (Dehidrasi dari bentuk gel0, 475 (Pembakaran bahan organic). Hasil dari pemanasan ini dimasukkan dalam analisa Statistik rancangan acak lengkak (RAL). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa warna tanah hitam menjadi hitam mereahan pada pemanasan 475"C, porositas tanahnya sebesar 93,71”6 sehingga porositas tanah gambut yang besar akan memberikan peluang air untuk lolos besar. Kerapatan lindaknya memberikan pengaruh yang nyata berdasarkan analisa sidik ragam suhu semakin tinggi, kerapatan lindak yang diperoleh nilainya semakin kecil sekitar 0,09 gr/cm' pada suhu 475'C. Kandungan C- organik tanahnya memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada pemanasan 475"C sebesar 5,5096 yaitu tanah mengalami penurunan yang sangat besar saat pembakaran bahan dan kemasaman tanahnya, semakin tinggi suhu yang diberikan maka Ph tanah tinggi dan tingkat kemasaman tanah rendah.Kata kunci : Tanah gambut, warna tanah, kerapatan lindak, porositas tanah, C-organik tanah, PH.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui penurunan motilitas spermatozoa tikus putih jantan akibat paparan infusa buah adas (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.). Dua puluh ekor tikus putih jantan galur Sprague Dawley diadaptasikan selama 7 hari, kemudian dibagi dalam 4 kelompok, yaitu kontrol negatif diberi aquadest ; 3 dosis uji yaitu dosis 1( infusa buah adas 1,01%) ; dosis 2 (2,02%) ; dosis 3 (4,05%). Pemberian sediaan uji dilakukan secara peroral selama 48 hari. Parameter yang diamati adalah motilitas spermatozoa.. Data motilitas spermatozoa (%) dianalisis secara statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya penurunan motilitas spermatozoa akibat pemberian infusa buah adas (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) dengan dosis yang paling baik yaitu dosis 3 (4,05%).

Abstract

This study was conducted for the purpose of know the application of  approach CTL in their experiences of the results of grade 5 on student Akidah Akhlak in MIMU Tulung Jaya Sukadana east Lampung . The research is research the act of class .The collection of data using technique, observation, a test, interviews and documentation .This study was conducted in 2 cycles with every cycle 2 meeting . The subject of study this is students grade 5 MIMU Tulung Jaya with the number of 23 students on Akidah Akhlak. The result of this research showing that in learning by applying approach CTL study results students increased this cycle visible on student learning I the result was completeness 65,22 % and on cycle II to achieve 86,95 %. I to cycle cycle II increased by 21,73 % .So that it can be analyzed that that the implementation of the approach CTL in learning activities can improve learning outcomes students grade 5 MIMU Tulung Jaya on the subjects Akidah Akhlak.
