Abstract

The quality of an electric power system is measured by its continuity of service, good controland maintenance. The good continuity of service can be obtained if all the components ofpower systems can operate well in every situation and condition, either in normal or inabnormal condition. In abnormal condition, the protection system has an important role indetecting every disturbance and disconnecting the disturbed parts from the system. Thepower transformer is the main component in a substation. The disturbances in thetransformer should be isolated so as not to disturb the system during distribution of theelectric power to other load. The differential relay on the power transformer is a protectionrelay to detect internal disturbance. This paper discusses the setting and mismatch error ofdifferential relay in substation of Central Duri at switchgear #3 at PT Chevron PacificIndonesia (PT CPI).Keywords: short circuit, differential relay, power transformer

Abstract

Harmonic (current or voltage) is one of the problems that has to be solved in electric powersystem, especially that caused by non-linear loads. Harmonic could cause bad impacts forthe electric components that sensed it. It is almost certain that using of fluorescent lamp withelectronic ballast or it is called energy saving lamp can cause harmonic in electric powersystem. Considering of the using of energy saving lamp is increased fairly fast as residenceand office lighting, so it is important to analyze and solve the harmonic that caused byenergy saving lamp. From the harmonic analysis, we can know the harmonic distortioncaused by energy saving lamp. And there are some efforts to reduce such harmonicdistortion by using a simple harmonic filter.Keyword: power quality, harmonic, harmonic filter.

Abstract

Regarding increasing of load demand every year, it is necessary to provide power in largeammount which directly involved operation cost especially fuel cost. Therefore, to minimizethe fuel cost, should used an optimization technique that is Random Unit Outage, whichresult not only in minimum operation cost but also reliability level of the system. thisoptimization technique is divided into three steps by three methods; Gradien method,Dynamic Programming, and Convolution method. Abstract

Solar cell is one of renewable energy. Solar cell can convert directly sunlight dissociationenergy of diatomic to become electric energy. Electric energy yielded by solar cell hardlyinfluenced by the sun intensity of light received, so that solar cell can only yield electricenergy if there are sunlight. Supply of electric energy should be able to be applied everytime. Hybrid of solar energy alternator (PLTS) with electrical grid of PLN will yieldcontinuous supply of electric energy. At this hybrid system, electrical supply from PLTS isdesigned to be around 30% from overall load of electrical equipment in household, the restload around 70% is fulfilled by PLN.Hybrid process of PLTS with the electrical grid iscontrolled by a switch controller which its working principal based on one way direction;when PLTS works (on), hence electric supply from PLN is disconnected and so vice versa.Keywords: solar cell, hybrid system, switch controller

Abstract

In ice block industry, usage of electrical power for induction motor as prime mover ofcompressor is very high. Level of usage of electricity at ice block industry base on change ofrefrigeration media temperature. Referring to the mentioned, hence mass flow rate ofrefrigerant circulating in system, refrigeration effect per kilogram, comparison ofcompression of compressor, refrigeration capacities and mechanic energy which must beyielded by the compressor to circulate the refrigerant determining transfer of heat systemperformance as work principle of cooler machine can be determined. This Final Assignmentpresent an economical technique of usage of electrical power of induction motor that is byproduct the ice block when of media refrigeration temperature reach the lowest level that isnight time with method comparison of usage of electrical power of induction motor as primemover of compressor at ice block industry which giving result the lowest usage of electricalpower. Abstract

The most challenging issues in railway systems today is a driverless systems which includesmodern requirements for safety and reliability and also allows the basic improvement of theflow and effectivity of the operation including a comfort improvements for operators. Thesystems was known as Automatic Train Control (ATC) system. Abstract

Power losses at medium voltage network distribution systems cannot be avoided. Although its value is difficult to know exactly but it can be calculate. The value is influenced by load and line resistance, it is one of the aspects of efficiency on power electric distribution. This paper uses two calculation methods. The first method is basic formula which PLN usually use based on field data acquisitioned.
