Abstract

Research on the characterization of the ethanol extract of the flowers of tembelekan (Lantana camara L) has done. This study aims are to determine: (1) the functional group and the absorption spectrum of ethanol extract of flowers tembelekan, (2) the type of eluent used for separating the colored substance ethanol extracts of flowers tembelekan by TLC, (3) absorption spectrum and FTIR extracts and results of separation preparative TLC. Achievement of the objectives is done through the ethanol extract of flowers tembelekan by maceration, followed by taking the spectrum of UV-Vis and FTIR as well as analysis by TLC. The results showed extract ethanol absorbs light at a wavelength of 330 nm which gives an indication that there is a possibility flavonoids, flavonols and flavones. Good eluent use in the separation of components using preparative TLC were eluent a mixture of butanol / acetic acid / water = 4: 1: 5 (v / v / v), which gives an indication of at least one type of compounds in the extract, such as yellow, which has a functional group the free hydroxy group, bonded hydrogen bonding and group C=O.Keywords : flower extract tembelekan , TLC , FTIR spectra

Abstract

The research about synthesis and characterization of chiral compounds from the rough methyleugenol with acetic acid as the catalyst has been done. The goal is to determine the  content of 1-(3,4-dimetoksifenil)-2-propanil acetate compound which is produced in the reaction process of metileugenol with acetic acid and to characterizased the chemical compound of the product. The results showed that the content of 1-(3,4-dimetoksifenil)-2-propanil acetate compound that has been obtained was  45.87% with a molecular weight of 238.Keywords : Methyleugenol, Chiral, FT-IR, GC-MS

Abstract

A research about a comparative study of spectrophotometry UV-Vis and HPLC method for the analysis of vitamin E in saponified red palm oil has been done. This research aims to compare the results of analysis using Spectrophotometer UV - Vis and HPLC to determine the concentration of vitamin E in red palm oil previously saponified and extracted. HPLC analysis was carried out using an RP-18 column and mobile phase composed a methanol and water ( 86:14 ), with a flow rate of 1 ml/min and UV detection at 290 nm. For the Spectrophotometric UV-Vis analysis, hexane was used as a solvent and the wavelength at 298,5 nm was selected for the detection. The results are the concentration of vitamin E using spectrophotometric and HPLC method was respectively 104.5 ppm and 127 ppm.Keyword: Vitamin E, Red Palm Oil, saponification, extraction, spectrophotometry Ultra Violet -Visible, High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract

Research about composition of superior nutrients, growth parameters, and best method to maximize production of biomass sea phytoplankton, Chlorella  vulgaris, Dunaliella salina, and Spirulina sp. has been performed. The nutrients was named as MSSIP which were consist of following compositions: urea fertilizer, Arschat-M nutrient, Fe:Co:Ni metal ions (6 : 3 : 9 : 6 : 3). Methods used were identification and analysis of sea phytoplankton.  Determination of optimum growth condition, pure culture, and mass culture were using local raw materials-based engineered nutrients or MSSIP (M. Sjahrul-Syahruddin Kasim-Indah Raya-Paulina Taba). Determination of product density of sea phytoplankton biomass, analyses of carbohydrate content, and lipid biomass were done by using haemocytometer and microscope, Luff Schrol method, and soxhlet method (n-hexane as solvent), respectively. Morphology of phytoplankton was identified by using a digital camera microscope, SZ60/sZ60-61. Furthermore, to understand the effect of metal ions, Fe, Co, and Ni added into MSSIP nutrient, identification of nutrient before and after culturing process were done using XRF-Thermo-Fisher.  The results showed that Chlorella  vulgaris, Dunaliella salina, and Spirulina sp. were suitable as raw materials  to produce biofuel. Those three phytoplankton contained 0,3095 g/L, 0,3782 g/L, and 0,3325 g/L biomass, 32,49%w/w, 31,58%w/w, and 29,81%w/w carbohydrates; and  25,95%w/w, 26,82%w/w and 24,53%w/w lipid, respectively. Best optimum condition of culture were salinity of 30-35%, temperature of 20-30 °C, pH of 8-9, initial density of 2.5 x 104 cell/mL, light exposure of 40 watt, and continuously aerated with CO2. Based on our study, sea phytoplankton, Chlorella  vulgaris, Dunaliella salina, and Spirulina sp. have a high potency as source of bioethanol and biodiesel.Keywords: mass culture, superior nutrient MSSIP, sea phytoplankton biomass, Fe, Co, Ni metal ions

Abstract

Penelitian telah dilakukan tentang optimalisasi ekstraksi pektin dari kulit buah sukun (Artocarpus altilis). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi asam sitrat, suhu dan waktu terbaik dalam menghasilkan ekstraksi pektin dengan rendemen tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 3 faktor yaitu konsentrasi asam sitrat terdiri atas 5 taraf (1, 3, 5, 7, dan 9%) ; Suhu ekstraksi terdiri atas 5 taraf (60-65, 70-75, 80-85, 90-95, dan 100-105oC), dan Waktu ekstraksi terdiri atas 6 taraf (60, 90, 120, 150, 180, dan 210 menit) yang masing-masing dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan konsentrasi asam sitrat terbaik diperoleh pada 7% dengan rendemen pektin 32,28%, suhu terbaik diperoleh pada 90-95oC dengan rendemen pektin 39,585%, dan waktu terbaik diperoleh pada 180 menit dengan rendemen pektin 49,075%. Hasil karakteristik terhadap pektin adalah kadar metoksil 8,091%, kadar galakturonat 89,76%, dan berat molekul 73.673,997 g/mol.Kata kunci: Ekstraksi, pektin, kulit sukun, metoksil, galakturonat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi enzim kitinase dari bakteri termofilik asal sumber air panas Bora. Isolat bakteri B1211 digunakan pada produksi enzim kitinase pada media MSM cair yang diperkaya dengan konsentrasi koloidal kitin 1% pada suhu inkubasi 60oC selama 3 hari. Aktivitas enzim kitinase dianalisis berdasarkan standar N-asetil-D-glukosamin untuk kondisi suhu dan pH optimum, pengaruh substrat, dan pengaruh ion logam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan enzim kitinase memiliki suhu optimum, pH optimum, dan konsentrasi substrat terbaik, masing-masing 600C, pH 7, dan 2%. Kinetika enzim kitinase memiliki Vmaks dan Km, yaitu 0,72 U/mL dan 0,01 mg/mL. Ion logam Hg2+, Zn2+, Al3+, dan Cu2+ berfungsi sebagai activator, sedangkan ion Li3+, Ca2+, dan K+ cenderung sebagai inhibitor terhadap enzim kitinase.Kata kunci: bakteri termofilik, isolat B1211, kitinase, karakterisasi

Abstract

Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) research by using cactus fruit extract (Opuntia elatior Mill.) has been done. The objectives of the research are to determine the highest efficiency of submersion time and Dye pH treatments of cactus fruit extract (Opuntia elatior Mill.). This research was used a Complete Random Design (CRD) method whereas the submersion time of the worked electrode on five extents of treatments are 6,12,18, 24, 30 hours and Dye pH on four extents of treatments are 1, 3, 5, and 7. The result showed that the optimum time at 12 hours with the Dye pH at 3 has resulted in the highest efficiency of 0.105. Keywords: Cactus fruit extract, Opuntia elatior Mill, efficiency, DSSC.

Abstract

Ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is more stable in low pH than in high pH. The research aims to monitor and determine the effect of ratio content in ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) in tomato sauce and the pH effect on the percentage of ethanol extract degradation during storage. Two independent variables implemented in this study, are ratio content of ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) in tomato sauce and pH. Ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) in tomato sauce with ratio content 0,5:1; 1:1; and 1:0 (w/w) and adjusted to pH 2, pH 3, pH 4, pH 5 and pH 6, respectively were investigated. The absorbance measurement of Ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) in tomato sauce was depend on each treatment, then analyzed using completely randomized design. The percentage of ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) degradation in tomato sauce decreased in ratio content 1:0 (w/w) at pH 2 with percentage content of degradation is 30.09%. Furthermore, after 10 days of storage, the highest percentage of ethanol extract of roselle petals (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) in tomato sauce degradation is 93.33% with ratio content is 0.5:1 at pH 6 and the lowest is 30.09% with ratio content 1:0 at pH 2. Abstract

A research has been conducted on the adsorption ability of rice husk ash to water content and free fatty acid of virgin coconut oil (VCO) in the adsorption column. The objective of this research is to get the ratio of coarse VCO to rice husk ash adsorbent in the column that produces VCO with water content, free fatty acid that meets SNI and yields VCO yield not less than 80%. This study used a completely randomized factorial design (CRF design) with the effect of the amount of rice husk ash adsorbent (5g, 10g, 15g, 20g, 25g) in in columns 2.5 and 3 inches. The result of research on column 2.5 inch of the lowest water content (0.2%) was found on the weight of rice husk ash 25g and free fatty acid content on 25g ash husk ash was 0.1%. And at column 3.0 inch the lowest water content was found on 25g ash husk ash 0.1%, and the lowest free fatty acid content on ash weight of rice husk 25g was 0.2% and the best yield was 90%. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penambahan rasio polietilen glikol pada selulosa asetat yang menghasilkan karakteristik membran selulosa asetat terbaik. Selulosa diperoleh dari proses ekstraksi pelepah pohon pisang. Selulosa asetat diperoleh dari sintesis selulosa. Pencetakan membran dilakukan dengan melarutkan selulosa asetat ke dalam pelarut aseton 1:45 (b/v) dan ditambahkan pemlastis PEG dengan variasi 0; 2; 4; 6; dan 8 %. Membran diuji ketebalannya menggunakan micrometer sedangkan untuk kuat tarik dan elongasi diuji dengan Universal Testing Machine.  Rendemen selulosa yang diperoleh adalah 62,5 %. Rendemen selulosa asetat dari hasil sintesis adalah 50 %. Berat molekul selulosa asetat 24.961,48 g/mol. Karakteristik membran terbaik diperoleh pada penambahan PEG 8% yang memiliki ketebalan 0.0206 mm, kuat tarik sebesar 20,29 MPa, dan elongasi sebesar 3%.Kata Kunci : Selulosa, Selulosa Asetat, Membran, PEG
