Abstract

The study aimed at describing the implementation of guided conversation at Harapan Bersama Tegal Polytechnic. The method used was a classroom action research in two cycles. The participant of the study was 30 mechanical engineering students who took English courses 2. The improvement of students’ speaking fluency was 65% in the first cycle. However, it was categorised as failed because only 13 students got a minimum score of 74 or above 74. Thus, the second cycle needs to be done. In the second cycle of learning there has been a percentage increase in the results of fluency speak 20% of the average value of 65% to 85%. All in all, students’ speaking fluency has been improved by the using Guided Conversationes.

Abstract

Oil cooler jenis plate and fins pada mesin mesin diesel isuzu panther merupakan alat penukar kalor yang berfungsi untuk mendinginkan oli mesin yang digunakan sebagai bahan pelumas pada mesin diesel. Setelah beberapa beroperasi oil cooler akan mengalami penurunan kinerja yang disebabkan adanya penurunan laju perpindahan kalor. Data Pengujian oil cooler digunakan sebagai dalam analisa kinerja oil cooler.Data pengujian tersebut adalah temperature air masuk oil cooler,temperature air keluar oil cooler, temperature oli masuk oil cooler, temperature oli keluar oil cooler dengan laju massa aliran air dan laju massa aliran oli Beberapa parameter yang berhubungan dengan laju perpindahan kalor adalah koefisien perpindahan kalor, beda temperatur rata-rata logaritmik, faktor fouling, dan luas permukaan perpindahan kalor. Dari pengujian mesin diesel pada putaran mesin 1500 Rpm dan selang waktu t : 15 menit, 30 menit, 45 menit, 60 menit dan 75 menit hasil evaluasi dan analisis yang diperoleh adalah pada laju perpindahan kalor mengalami kenaikan dari 0,001 kW menjadi 0,004. beda temperatur logaritmik mengalami kenaikan dari 3,97 K menjadi 15,20 K. Luas permukaan perpindahan kalor dari 0,00016 m2 turun menjadi 0,00012 m2. Efektifitas oil cooler dari 0,29 turun menjadi 0,23. Kata Kunci: Oil Cooler, Analisa Kinerja, Laju Perpindahan Kalor

Abstract

Dengan kemajuan teknologi industri rumah tangga sehingga memberikan kemudahan bagi masyarakat khususnya petani dalam pengolahan hasil pertanian contohnya jagung, selain itu sebagai salah satu makanan pokok juga dapat di manfaatkan sebagai salah satu bahan baku industri pangan seperti diolah menjadi minyak nabati, margarin, maizena, kue dan jagung juga sebagai makanan produksi jagung harus ditingkatkan seiring dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk dan perkembangan usaha ternak dan industri. Tujuan untuk menentukan Rpm mana yang lebih baik antara tiga kombinasi pulley untuk digunakan pada mesin penggiling bonggol jagung. Metode pengujian menggunakan metode eksperimen yaitu dengan cara merubah variasi pulley pada mesin penggerak dengan diameter 152 mm, 178 mm, 203 mm dan ukuran diameter pulley pada mesin yang digerakkan 58 mm dan masing-masing selama 10 menit, kemudian catat hasil konsumsi bahan bakar dan hasil pengilingan yang paling efisien. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa hasil penggilingan dengan menggunakan variasi pulley mesin penggerak diameter 152 mm selama 10 menit dengan kecepatan mesin 2000 Rpm dengan hasil konsumsi bahan bakar 100 ml dan hasil penggilingan 3 ons sedangkan hasil penggilingan dengan menggunakan variasi pulley mesin penggerak diameter 178 mm selama 10 menit dengan kecepatan mesin 2000 Rpm konsumsi bahan bakar 110 ml dan hasil penggilingan 4 ons. Untuk pulley berdiameter 203 mm selama 10 menit dengan kecepatan mesin 2000 Rpm konsumsi bahan bakar 90 ml dan  didapatkan hasil penggilingan 9 ons.

Abstract

This research was motivated by low ability in English subject, reading comprehension in particular among students in Mechanical Engineering study program. Politeknik Harapan Bersama. Based on some related studies, SQ3R technique is as one of learning techniques that proved to enhance reading skills. This research was conducted with the assumption that the technique was able to improve reading comprehension. Therefore, the purpose of the current study was to determine the effect of SQ3R technique on students' reading comprehension. The research presented 2 variables namely SQ3R technique (X) and reading comprehension (Y). Pre-Experimental method of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was implemented with one class of Mechanical Engineering consisting 26 male and 1 female student involved during the study. Data were gained through cloze test and observation sheet. All data were then processed and analyzed quantitatively to determine the effect of the SQ3R technique on the students' ability to comprehend the passage. The results showed that tcount (5.001) was greater than ttable (2.080). Thus, this can be concluded that SQ3R technique has positive effect (54.4%) on the students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

Vocational High School is the biggest contributor to unemployment in the area, many supporting factors such as the unstable condition of the company. Basically, that is not all, the teaching process for these Vocational Schools is at the forefront of the increase in the unemployment rate of SMK graduates. From the results of community service activities, the following conclusions are obtained: (1) With the community service at Adiwerna District 1 Vocational High School, giving at Adiwerna Nu 1 Vocational School in Tegal Regency, providing knowledge, understanding, and innovation on efficient engine stand overhauls according to operational standards procedure; (2) Speeding up the work when the engine stand overhaul practices in competency subjects overhaul the engine with the SOP tool so as to make students competent in their performance practices.

Abstract

Most of Mechanical Engineering students have very low interest and motivation towards English even they regard English as huge obstacle. Besides that, it is the lack of module or material of English especially for mechanical engineering. Because of this problem, English teaching in this class needs the materials or methods which is suitable for those students therefore the student learning experience is more interesting and challenging. This is the main reason why lecturers of vocational colleges especially for mechanical engineering department is expected to always explore more motivative teaching resources, although there are many handbooks or modules include CDs. In order to learn more varied, lecturers can use English material for this department that can be taken or downloaded from Youtube. So that the students can understand and improve their English vocabulary competence related to mechanical terms. This study analyzes the effects of using material taken from Youtube in the mechanical department. Using Class Action Research consist of two cycles with stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Both cycles use the application of learning models by Teaching English for ESP assisted by Youtube. The result of research shows that the improvement of problem solving ability in English which is very significant that is 85,21% from 30 studenst get value ≥70 according to required minimum value.

Abstract

In order to increase students' confidence in speaking activities, it is necessary to be equipped with pronunciation. With sufficient pronunciation, the speaking practiced by students becomes acceptable and well understood. One of the learning media that provides pronunciation facilities is the website www.eslfast.com. Students can choose learning materials from basic to advanced levels. The advantage of this website is that there are various choices of text dialogues and monologues. PKM was held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 10:00-12:00 WIB at SMK Karya Bhakti, Brebes using lecture and practical methods. Students are introduced to and also practices related to the use of eslfast.com website using their respective gadgets. The enthusiasm of students in the PKM activity was high, around 85% of students thought the importance of learning pronunciation using the website. It is hoped that this PKM activity will increase students' motivation to learn pronunciation. At the end of the session students were given an additional demonstration of SEFT Hypnotherapy which was beneficial for physical and spiritual health.

Abstract

The activity of speaking or known as public speaking is a scary thing for students. Although they are often asked to practice presentations in front of the class, the technique of delivering public speaking is often not paid attention to. There are several techniques that should be mastered in public speaking so that the delivery can be conveyed well to the audience. This time, the implementation of PKM aims to provide knowledge about public speaking skills, improve speaking skills, mentally prepare students to speak in front of crowds, and equip students to enter lectures or work.  The method presented in this activity is lecture and practice.with 20 students from SMK Bina Nusa Slawi. Students are also provided with modules to make it easier when delivering and students can also repeat the material at home. Students are also given directions regarding the correct way of presentation in Indonesian and English in accordance with the rules of public speaking. In addition to theory and practice in the classroom. Students are also directed to observe several public speaking figures through Youtube channel. In general, community service activity at SMK Bina Nusa Slawi are going well. Students' enthusiasm is extraordinary, as evidenced by the fact that 80 percent of students believe that having public speaking skills and increasing self-confidence are important. Students feel helped by this activity because they gain knowledge about public speaking and presentation techniques that can be used to support presentations in class or as a provision for later in the world of work.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini populasi adalah Mahasiswa Prodi DIII Teknik Mesin, kemudian untuk sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas 2B yang merupakan mahasiswa semester 2 Tahun Akademik 2019/2020. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang dengan memadukan teknologi komputasi mengunakan software Wolfram Mathematica. Penelitian merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan 4 tahap yaitu Planning, Acting, Observing, Reflecting. Hasil riset yang telah dilaksanakan dengan aplikasi inovasi pembelajaran komputasi Wolfram Mathematica adalah sebagai berikut : (1) Hasil Rekap kuisioner yang telah dibagikan dan dan di isi langsung oleh mahasiswa memiliki prosentase 24% meningkat menjadi 88% pada siklus ke , (2) Terdapat peningkatan aktifitas belajar mahasiswa dengan diskripsi pada siklus 1 memiliki Prosentase 63% yang memiliki tingkat keaktifan pada tingkat cukup aktif, dan pada siklus II sebesar 75% yang memiliki tingkat keaktifan pada tingkat aktif, (3) Terdapat pula pengingkatan pada kemampuan pemecahan mahasiswa, tingkat keaktifan, dan minat belajar pada mahasiswa yang terlihat dengan indikator perolehan nilai rerata mahasiswa pada siklus 1 sebesar 65 serta tingkat ketuntasan belajar mahasiswa dengan capaian 55%. Kemudian nilai rerata mahasiswa di siklus 2 di peroleh dengan tingkat 77 serta tingkat ketuntasan mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran mencapai 98%, sehingga dapat di simpulkan terdapat perubahan positif yang sangat siginifikan dan efektif.

Abstract

Entering the 4.0 industrial revolution, many electronic-based learning media occur to make the learning process becomes more colorful compared to the one-way learning process. Game-based learning is one of the new media that occurs nowadays. Kahoot! is one of the popular game-based learning media that is popularly played in the class. However, the effectiveness of Kahoot!as an assessment media of English lesson is rarely conducted. In this research, the simple linear regression is used as the method. Furthermore, SPSS was used to check the validity and reliability of the questions given to the respondents. Even though there were 65 respondents, the questionnaires could be collected only 39 questionnaires. From the statistic test, the value of t is 5.405 > t table which is 1,998 made H0 is rejected. According to the statistic analysis, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of Kahoot! as an assessment media is only 30%. Some of the respondents argue that it is not very effective especially while showing the rank of the participants.
