Abstract

Saat ini bahan bakar biodiesel yang digunakan untuk mesin diesel umumnya berasal dari CPO (crude palm oil). Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan bakar biodiesel dengan bahan baku minyak kedelai. Tujuan penelitian ini selain untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja mesin, diteliti juga efeknya terhadap perubahan temperatur di ruang bakar mesin diesel yang diuji dan emisi gas buang yang dihasilkan. Perlu diketahui bahwa perubahan temperatur di ruang bakar sangat mempengaruhi proses pembakaran yang dihasilkan mesin dan hal masih sangat jarang dikaji oleh para peneliti. Metode penelitian diawali dengan pengujian nilai kalor bahan bakar yaitu B30, B20, B10 dan minyak solar. Untuk pengujian kinerja mesin digunakan mesin diesel empat langkah tanpa modifikasi. Dari hasil eksperimental tampak bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai pemakaian bahan bakar spesifik yang sesuai dengan meningkatnya komposisi biodiesel minyak kedelai di dalam campuran bahan bakar. Besarnya emisi gas buang CO dan HC mengalami penurunan saat menggunakan bahan bakar B10, B20 dan B30. Data eksperimental menunjukkan bahwa daya maksimum diperoleh 1,26 kW, konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik 373,15 g/kWh dan efisiensi termal maksimum 23,04% saat menggunakan bahan bakar solar. Temperatur maksimum ruang bakar mesin diesel diperoleh saat menggunakan bahan bakar solar sebesar 507,86°C. Data pengujian menunjukkan bahwa temperatur ruang bakar minimum diperoleh saat mesin diesel menggunakan bahan bakar B30 sebesar 388,49°C.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of thermoelectric cooler driven by solar energy in Medan city, Indonesia. This cooler able to use in a remote area where electricity is still not available. The cooler could be used to store beverage that must be stored at low temperatures to maintain the freshness such as drink cup. The solar thermoelectric cooler is based on the principles of a thermoelectric module or Peltier effect to create a hot side and a cold side. The cold side of the thermoelectric module is utilized for cooling purposes to the cooling space. The heat from the hot side of the module is rejected to ambient surroundings by using heat sinks and fans. The solar thermoelectric cooler was experimentally tested for the cooling purpose. Experimental results showed that the solar thermoelectric cooler could reduce the temperature of the drink cup from 26oC to 15oC in approximately 40 min. The maximum COP of the cooling system during the experiment was calculated and found to be about 0.356. The effect of weather conditions on the COP value was about 85.90%.

Abstract

Analysis of Integration System of Cow And Oil Palm In Increasing Farmers Income In Labuhanbatu District ". Kabupten Labuhanbatu was chosen as the location in this study on the grounds that this district is a center of palm oil production and cattle breeding center in North Sumatra. Kecamatan Sampel selected sub district Bilah Hulu, Bilah Hilir and Pangkatan because as a center of production of palm oil and cattle in Labuhanbatu regency. This research used field observation method using questionnaire and interview instrument, this research type is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study was 78 oil palm farmers/ranchers selected randomly. The sample consists of 44 oil palm farmers without integration with saip and 34 palm oil farmers with integration with cows. Data analysis model used is descriptive and quantitative analysis. To test the difference of farmer's income, it is used the mean difference test (t test) and to analyze the factors influencing the farmer's income is used Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with the help of SPSS software version 17. Result of research: There is a very significant difference of income level between farmers who implement and farmers who have not implemented a system of cattle and oil palm integration in the research area. The income difference is Rp. 7.87 Million / Year. Educational factors, farm experience and the number of family dependents have no significant effect on farmers' income. Abstract

Cost Analysis of Seed Drying Rice (Oryza sativa) in PT. Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Branch shavings. PT. Sang Hyang Seri (Persero) Branch shavings used as the study site because here is a branch that has a rice seed breeding area under study and activities are drying by the method referred to in the study. This study uses field observations using a questionnaire and interview research instruments, this kind of research is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study were all employees and unit leader drying rice seeds PT. Sang Hyang series (Persero) Branch shavings. The model used data analysis is descriptive and quantitative analysis. To test for differences in the cost of drying rice seeds used analysis of different test-score score (T test) with the help of software SPSS version 17.  The results of this study are: 1) There is no significant difference in the cost of drying method of drying floor open (natural) plain rice and rice seed Ciherang candidate, Mekongga and PB There is a significant difference 42. cost of drying method of drying floor open (natural) plain rice and prospective rice seed varieties Impari 13. 2) there is no significant difference method box dryer drying costs and potential ordinary paddy rice seed Ciherang, Mekongga and Impari 13. there were significant differences in the cost of drying method box dryer ordinary rice and rice seed varieties candidate PB 42. 3) There are significant differences drying costs and the open method of drying floor box dryer ordinary rice and rice seed Ciherang candidate, Mekongga and Impari 13.  Keywords :    Rice Seeds, Dryer

Abstract

Langkat Regency is one of the national rice buffer. The rice needs is increasing every year, as well the population increasing. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the rice production input, land, labor, seed, and fertilizer, on the production of rice in Langkat Regency. Secondary data from 22 districts at Langkat Regency for two years (pooled data) was analyzed to answer the research objectives. The data analyzed with multiple regression by Coob-Douglas production function. The analysis showed that the positively significant impact of variables of land, labor, seed and fertilizer on the rice production. Production elasticity value is 1.671 (elastic). This generally means that rice farming in Langkat Regency in increasing returns to scale. Keywords: production, rice, input, scale, Langkat.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the drinks that many people like, in general, coffee is made from real coffee beans which are processed into powder, it turns out that apart from the original coffee beans can also be made from other ingredients, such as bark which are popular in fruit-producing areas salak. The efficacy of coffee bark that is believed to increase stamina, reduce blood pressure and uric acid by the community, making coffee bark and producing coffee powder of bark is increasingly developing. The machine for grinding bark into powder is a machine used to grind zalacca seeds into powder to be used as bark coffee. The construction of the machine to be tested uses a suction method where the mechanism of bark through the inlet will be directed to a row of counter blades and after being filtered and driven by a thread shaft will pass through a row of fine counters / double processors. This machine will be tested for performance to determine the productivity of the machine such as Capacity (Q), Quality (K) and Power usage (P). The test was carried out using 5 kg of disunrice bark seed raw material with 3 times testing. The test results can be concluded that the maximum capacity of 33 kg / hour occurs the second test and the average machine quality is 94.47%. The maximum engine power of 1,253.3 Watts was obtained at the first test and the minimum power was 1,153.3 Watts on the 2nd test. The energy needed to grind 1 kg of bark into powder ranged from 38.13 W-h/hr.

Abstract

Traditional tools used in Aloe vera squeeze are classified as ineffective if used in medium and large scale processing. While the use of aloe vera as a raw material for a product is quite large, it is necessary to use an aloe vera squeezer that is able to overcome and handle the problem. So with the statement above, a machine that is capable of carrying out the process of curing and squeezing aloe vera for cosmetic ingredients is 30 kg / hour. In the process of making aloe vera machines and squeezing equipment used such as sawing machines, manual plate machines, lathes, welding machines, drilling machines, grinding machines. In the process of making this machine there is the main component workmanship and the processing time, namely the machine frame made of 37 "L" st time profile 9, 52 hours, screw press shaft made of 35 minutes S35 C material, the counter blade is made of material S 35 C 18 minutes, screw press made of 36 minutes plate material, screw press tube made of steel pipe material 2; 25 hours, inlet funnel from gallvanis plate material 2; 15 hours, outlet funnel made of gallvaniss plate material 1 25 hours, the aloe vera water filter is made from plate 1, 30 hours, a counter knife made of steel plate 2, 30 hours. From the time of the engine design, the total manufacturing schedule was obtained as the effective time was 26.7 hours, if the machining was estimated at 70% or (0.70), the machining time would be 26.7: 0.70 = 38.7 hours. so the reality time (reality in the field) is 38.7 hours.

Abstract

Cows really need quality food, of course, a lot of quality cow feed is obtained from the process of fermentation. For the implementation of cattle feed through the process of fermentation can not be separated from the stirring process or mixing the basic ingredients of feed added with other added ingredients. Abstract

The process of making cracker material slicing machines has the main components that want to be worked on starting from making a shaft, blade plate, inlet, outlet, engine frame, blade shield, pendulum, connecting rod, conveyor rail, and pressure rod. First stage carried out in the manufacturing process, namely identifying machine components, then making the process of making machines with several stages, namely the process of procurement of materials, measurement process, cutting process, turning process, drilling process, welding process, grinding process and workpiece assembly process. The machines used in the process of making these machine parts are cutting grinding machines, lathes, drilling machines / drilling machines, welding machines, and hand grinding machines. The number of components worked is 10 pieces, and the total number of components of the cracker slicer is 23 fruit. The time of making this machine takes 15.7 hours
