Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) To determine the distribution of cashew farmer in a number characteristics, (2) To assess the farmer’s knowledge in cashew farming and, (3) To determine the relationship of the cashew’s farmer characteristics and their knowledge in cashew farming. Ninetyone cashew farmers were interviewed in this study. Data were collected in July to September 2005. Data were analyzed by Kendall W Concordance procedure. The results of the study were as follows: The mean of the farmer‘s age was 41, the farmer’s formal education was secondary school, the farmer’s experience in cashew farming was 14 years, their motivations were high, their income was Rp. 5.4 million rupiahs per year, their farm size was 3.3 ha, their cashew trees was 467, their family size was 4 persons, their media consumtion was high, their cashew production was 2.9 ton per year, their contact with extension agent was good, and they did not have any prior training. The mean score of the farmers knowledge was 75.58. Knowledge that the farmers need were: (1) Agriculture technology, (2) Labour aspect, (3) Integrating cashew farm and livestock, and (4) Capital formation. There were high correlations between the farmer’s characteristics and the farmer’s knowledge in cashew’s farming.

Abstract

The study was carried out in Bogor in June through September 2005. The objectives of the study were : (1) to identify the external and internal factors of street food peddler, (2) to identify entrepreneurship behavior of the street food peddler, and (3) to analyze the correlation between the internal and the external factors and entrepreneurship behavior of the street food peddler. The study was a descriptive correlational method. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation. The results of the study showed that: (1) The internal and the external factors were significantly correlated with the street food peddler entrepreneurship behavior, (2) The street food peddler entrepreneurship behavior were categorized high and medium.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study intended to determine and analyze the effectiveness of variety show family planning television program among teenagers. The variables were communicator characteristics, message, media and communican aspects. Those aspec were analyzed partially and simultaneously. the study was located at SMAN 4 Depok, West Java, during April 2012. The study was designed by using quasi-experimental method with explanative correlations. Sampling method was  simple random method. Respondens was totally 80 students, devided into two groups: 40 students as a control group, and 40 students was treated. Data was analyze by descriptive frequency, Path analysis, t test, and Kendall’s tau b correlation. Result study indicated the program was highly effective. The treated group indicated more aware about family planning program than the control group was. The treated group has more averaged cognitive, affective and conative level than the control group. Meanwhile the communicator characteristics, messages, media and communicant aspect explained the program was more effective for teens, as well as the content, media and communicants aspects. In case of communicans aspect, merely the message influenced. Keywords: effectiveness, varietyshow, family planning television program

Abstract

Abstraks Sustainable agriculture development holds an important issue now days.  Famers’ Communication behaviors in information seeking constitute a pivotal position in order to increase the farmers’ autonomy.  The objectives of this research were: (1) to describe farmers’ communication behavior of organic agriculture cultivation in red-onion farmers, (2) to analyze the correlation between farmers’ communication behavior and red-onion organic agriculture practices, This research was designed qualitatively using survey method.  The data was analyzed using Tau-Kendall Test.  This research produced several results such as: an Organic practice that has been conducted by the farmers was not utterly organic.  The organic performer’s behavior was influenced by communication behavior variable and individual characteristics’.  The farmers’ Autonomy was much correlated with farming activities’ behavior.
