Abstract

A study on “Efforts perpormed by hotels in Bali in looking after the environment” was undertaken in 2009, by utilising data from July, 2008 until June, 2009. Objectives of the study was for collecting data on any efforts undertaken by hotels in looking after the environment especially related to minimising water consumption, garbage handling, the use of chemicals (especially cleaning chemicals), minimising energy consumption and ecosystem conservation (measured from the proportion of natural vegetation). Data were collected from interviews, document checkings and distributing questionaires. Results of the study showed that in average water consumption of hotels in Bali was 115 litres / guest night. It was considered low, less than the benchmark of Green Globe/Earthcheck which was 1,300 litres / guest night. The average of energy consumption was 0.322 MJ per guest night, which was still much below the baseline levels / standard of 340 MJ / guest night. In average garbage/waste produced by hotels was 0.0309 litre/guest night. This was also much below the baseline of 6 litres / guest night. The use of biodegradable cleaning chemicals in the hotel was averaged 35% which should be a minimum of 50%. There were 22% only of hotels which used cleaning chemicals that were biodegradable over 50% (over the standard). In average the proportion of natural vegetation in a hotel was 29%. There were 43% of sampled hotels of which their natural vegetation was over the baseline of 33%. Thus, hotels in Bali should improved their performance in looking after the environment, especially dealing with cleaning chemicals and ecosystem conservation. In this regards, they should increase the proportion of the use of biodegradable cleaning chemicals and increase the proportion of land kept with their natural vegetation.

Abstract

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a spectroscopic method is highly reliable for atomic spectrochemical analysis both qualitatively and quantitatively. To achieve this, be aware of the detection parameters, one of which is a function of the atom emission intensity of detection delay time. In this study, plasma is generated by focusing the Nd-YAG laser (1064 nm, 7 ns) on the surface of solid Cu sample with 99.99% purity level at 1 atm pressure air environment. Plasma emission spectrometer was arrested by elements of Cu + HR 2500 with specifications: (wavelength range 200-870 nm, resolution 0.1 nm (FWHM), 7 detector CCDs with a combined 14.336 pixels) with variation detection delay time 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 microseconds after the plasma formation and the energy varies the 60-160mJ. The data showed that the value of the Cu atom emission intensity 521.8 nm of the most highly visible on detection delay time decreased to 0.5 microseconds and detection delay time 2 microseconds. Based on these data it can be concluded that the characterization of the elements Cu to calculate the intensity was in the range of 100-140 mJ laser energy and time delay detection of 0.5 microseconds.

Abstract

The research on the influence of magnetic field on the number of erythrocytes in the rat(Rattusnorvegicus) had done. The study was conducted using Rats aged approximately three monthswith a body weight between 150 gr-300 grinterval. Rats were given exposure to magnetic fieldsvarying from 1830 gauss to 5220 gauss interval by using500 and 500 gauss to 3500 gauss interval byusing765 for 6 hours in 3 days. The research has been showed there some data are the above resultspecially on the decrease of erythrocytes number. And other some data that has increased. The aboveresult speciallyon the decrease of erythrocytes number presumably the composition of it dominated byelements iron (Fe) were classified as ferromagnetic and non-linear are caused. On the recovery timehas been set the white rat data showed some recovery time close to 5 days, more than 5 days.

Abstract

The phase of Nd1Ba2Cu3O7-? has been synthesized by replacing Ba2CO3 to Ba(OH)2.8H2O. Thesynthesis has been done by solid reaction method in air atmosphere without annealing. The sampleswere mixed with alcohol partially and otherwise. The characterization using x-ray radiation (XRD), thatthe samples have shown the diffraction pattern appropriated to the pattern of diffraction of theNd1Ba2Cu3O7 phase with the volume fraction greater than 93% are resulted. The refinement with thesoftware Rietica procedure shown the Nd1Ba2Cu3O7 phase in symmetry orthorombyc form and the valueof c2 is less than 1.8 only on the Ba(OH)2.8H2O sample through the calcination process are produced. The superconductivity at temperatures >77K through the Meissner effect characterization andmeasurements of resistivity as in the temperature function on the sample are not arose. Since therequired oxygen content not enough to the formation of Nd1Ba2Cu3O7 phase in high-Tc. This is shown bythe crystal structure of the Nd1Ba2Cu3O7 phase in the symmetry orthorombic-II and thetragonal areformed.

Abstract

On the research effect of duration of exposure to the magnetic field to the number ofleukocytes in the rat (Rattus Norvigicus) are observed. Magnetic fields interval used in thisstudy is 300 Gauss till 500 Gauss with varying exposure time there are 2 hours per day, 3hours, 4 hours, 5 hours and 6 hours each day for three days and the recovery period of 5days was assumed. Based on the results. The leukocytes number of the rats were givenexposure to a magnetic field tends to increase after a recovery period tends to decrease thenumber of leukocytes or nearly normal. For N > 1 means the recovery takes over five days,as the number of leukocytes is still far above normal. For N < 1 recovery time is estimatedthat nearly five days, as the number of leukocytes gradually approaching normal.

Abstract

The Calogero-Moser model is an one-dimensional dynamical system that describes N pairwise interacting particles on a line with nonlinear interaction potentials. These potentials are associated with the root system of the Simple Lie Algebras. The Calogero-Moser model is integrable, and its integrability is describe through the Lax pair operators built in the root system of the associated Lie algebra. In the present work, a new Lax pair operator for the Calogero-Moser model based on the Doubly Simply-Laced Lie algebras is presented. It is shown that the canonical equation of motion obtained from the Lax pair formulation and from the Hamiltonian formulation are consistent.
