Abstract

Pasie Nan Tigo Urban Village has 20 Fishermen Groups, one of which is active is the Pantai Jaya Fishermen Group. Based on the facts and discussions with the Pantai Jaya Fishermen group it was found that the most important problem was the high operational costs required when going to sea, while the fish catches obtained were uncertain and the lack of technological touch in the fishing process. To go to sea, fishermen with Tondo Ships must prepare a minimum fund of 1.35 million rupiah, of which around 50% is used to buy fuel oil (BBM). The solution offered to solve the problem is the utilization of environmentally friendly solar energy through the solar panel technology of ship lighting systems. It is expected that from this activity can be obtained by fishing boats powered by environmentally friendly solar energy that is more economical and profitable. The use of solar panels for ship lighting systems will replace the use of generator engines which so far need fuel.

Abstract

Mosque is an important building for Muslims worldwide for doing religious activities, such as daily prayers, weekly discourses, and annual celebrations. In many places, mosques are considered appropriate buildings for rooftop solar photovoltaics (PV) installation. This study provides a techno-economic analysis of an on-grid PV system in a great mosque. As a case study, Masjid Tablighiyah Garegeh in Bukittinggi is chosen, which is currently under construction with an expected capacity of up to 1,400 people. This study uses HOMER software as a tool to assess optimum configuration for an on-grid PV system. There are four options that is considered in this study: PV-grid, PV-battery-grid, battery-grid, and grid only system . Optimization results showed that both configurations with PV have promising performance; however, an on-grid PV system without battery system is the most optimum configuration. A 40 kWp PV equipped with a 27 kW converter has the least net present cost with USD 6,902, while the cost of energy when implementing the system is only about USD 4.8 cent per kWh. By implementing the system, 57.2 MWh of electricity will be produced from the PV.

Abstract

The use of solar PV system in Indonesia has expanded to various field and area. One example is residential buildings in urban areas. This article discusses calculation methods for designing a solar power generation system that is applied to residential buildings, such as homes, offices, or colleges. Electricity generated from the solar home system (SHS) is used to support many kinds of electrical equipments, where the electrical equipments are used by building occupants in their daily life. The calculation method is considered from the potential of solar energy and the reliability of the on-site system to generate electricity. The system is designed in an off-grid topology by exchanging connections with the public electricity grid owned by PLN. Calculation results shows that this SHS has a generation capacity of 1 kWp, 24 V 300 Ah battery storage, and a 200 W inverter. This SHS can reduce electricity usage in this sector by 18.2 kWh in average every month.

Abstract

Indonesia intends to use renewable energy both locally and on a national scale. Regional energy planning must be developed by provincial governments in accordance with national energy planning (RUEN). One of the few provinces that has already published its regional energy planning is North Maluku Province. The ambition to use more renewable energy technologies for power generation is already taken into account in their regional energy planning. However, North Maluku Province may rely on renewable energy as their primary source of power because of the abundance of these resources. The purpose of this paper is to examine renewable energy development and planning in relation to the RUPTL 2021-2030 power development plan. This review gives an insight that North Maluku Province still have untapped renewable energy potential which can be developed in the future to increase its renewable shares in electricity mix as well as to enhance energy security and accessibility in the region.

Abstract

Photovoltaic is one of the renewable power sources with the highest growth in recent decades. However, large photovoltaic capacities require enormous areas for installing the modules, which is frequently troublesome. This issue could be addressed by a floating photovoltaic system since it can be installed on the surface of unutilised lakes, and dams. This study aims to design a 48-MW floating photovoltaic at Lake Singkarak and determine a connected substation to the West Sumatra Grid. PVsystem and digsilent powerfactory were used in this study as the calculation and simulation tools. The study’s results discover that the 48-MW floating photovoltaic design consists of 96,000 photovoltaic modules of 500 Wp and 16 inverters of 3,000 kVA. Simulation results showed that Solok substation is the most optimum choice to connect the floating PV, as it provides better voltage profiles, fewer power losses and a shorter distance. The harmonic simulation also showed the THDv of 2.14% at 150 kV of Solok substation, which is still within acceptable limits.
