Abstract

Papaya seeds were one part of the papaya plants that can be used as a traditional medicine. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of papaya seed extract (Carica papaya L.) to Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) and hepatocytes diameter of mice (Mus musculus L.). This study was an experimental study use Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that divided into 5 treatment groups with 3 replications. P0 test material in the form of aquadest, P1, P2, P3 in the form of papaya seeds extract test with dose respectively 1.4; 3.5; And 7 mg / mL. Treatment were administered orally for 21 consecutive days. The Body weights of mice were measured every 7 days. After treatment were terminated, the body weights of mice were measured and then sacrificed by dislocation of the neck and the liver were taken by surgery. Furthermore, the liver weights were measured and made histological preparations with HE staining. The determination of HSI were obtained from liver weights and body weights. The measurement of hepatocytes diameter were done by using photomicrograph at each incision 3 field of view. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level. The analysis result of HSI in the treatment group showed that there were no significant difference (p>0,05). The analisys of hepatocytes diameter of the treatment group showed significant difference (p<0.05). It could be concluded that exposure of papaya seeds extract for 21 days was a reversible effects so that the hepatocytes diameter size of mice increases but didn’t changed the HSI.Keywords: Carica papaya, HSI, hepatocytes diameter

Abstract

Background: Stress due to lack of feed that followed excessive activity is a trigger factor learning and memory disorder center in the hippocampus. Cornu ammonis (CA3 and CA1) in the hippocampus is a structure that is central to learning and memory. Complete nutrient content of feed is supporting the regeneration of the structure of CA3 and CA1 in the hippocampus impaired due to stress . This research was conducted to obtain a histological improvement layers of CA3 and CA1 hippocampus in the rat brain after supplementation with snakehead fish meat in the  feed of post-stress.Design and Method: This study uses a completely randomized design consisting of                 6 treatments with 4 replications. Test animals used were male Wistar rats. Treatments, including P0: control, namely Wistar rats were conditioned to stress during the six days that followed the feeding without supplementation of snakehead fish meat for 14 days; P1, P2, P3, and P4, respectively Wistar rats were conditioned stress followed by supplemental feeding snakehead fish meat 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. The research variables measured the thickness of the layer of CA3 and CA1. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the level of 95% and continued with Duncan test with 95% significance level .Result: Supplemental feeding with snakehead fish meat as much as 15% during 14 days in Wistar rats after stress gives the best effect on the improvement of CA3 and CA1 layer of the hippocampus, respectively 53.60 μm2 (17.49%) and 46.31 μm2 (78,32%), better than the control.Conclusion: Feeding the snake head fish meat supplementation for 14 days in Wistar rats after stress can improve layer CA3 and CA1 in the hippocampus of the brain. Recommended snake head fish meat can be used as a feed supplement to improve the structure of CA3 and CA1 in the hippocampus and very good to support the learning and memory functions of the brain. Keywords: snakehead fish meat, Channa striata, cornu ammonis, supplementation, hippocampus, learning and memory

Abstract

Magelang duck was one of the most productive local poultry as an egg producer. Improvements in the management of aves cultivation could be done with the addition of curcumin and light. Curcumin and light were able to affect the behavior of feeding and drinking. This study aimed to analyze the increases of feeding and drinking behavior of magelang duck (Anas javanica) which was fed with curcumin with red and white lighting. This study used 12 female ducks that were 17 weeks old. The study consisted of 4 groups: A0B0 (white light and curcumin 0 mg), A0B1 (white light and curcumin 18 mg), A1B0 (red light and curcumin 0 mg), and A1B1 (red light and curcumin 18 mg). The parameters observed in this study were the frequency of feeding and drinking of magelang ducks (Anas javanica). This research was analyzed by descriptive method. The conclusion of the study was that the giving of red light and white light and curcumin in the curcumin has not potential to improve the duck feeding activity in the stationary phase, while giving white light has potential to improve the behavior of drinking of magelang ducks.Key words: feeding and drinking behavior, Magelang duck, curcumin, red and white light.

Abstract

Physiological Stress and nutritional deficiencies that followed excessive activity is a trigger factor disturbance structure and function of the duodenum. Organ in the duodenum has the ability to regenerate periodically after experiencing problems due to physiological stress. Nutrient content of feed determine organ regeneration process duodenum of the small intestine. This study was conducted to assess, analyze and determine the concentration of fish meat cork to increase in diameter, villous length, the thickness of the layer of the mucosa, submucosa and muscularis duodenum of Wistar rats after conditioning the physiological stress.This study used 20 male Wistar rats consisted of 5 treatments with 4 replications. The treatment in this study consisted of P0: control, test animals were conditioned stress followed six days of feeding without supplementation with fish meat cork; P1, P2, P3, and P4 are test animals that were conditioned stress for 6 days and fed with supplementation of fish meat cork for 14 days, respectively 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the time after conditioning stress. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD). The parameters measured in this study is the diameter, villous length and thickness of the layers of mucosa, submucosa, and muscularis duodenum of the small intestine. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan test with 95% significance level. The results of this study are feeding the fish meat cork can improve the structure of histologic duodenum after  stress conditioning and feeding with supplementation of fish meat cork with a concentration of 15% giving effect to increase in diameter, the length of villi, and the thickness of the lining mucosa, submucosa, and muscularis duodenum, respectively -turut 2520 μm, 576.34 μm, 506 μm, 123.34 μm and 72.34 μm respectively higher 23.43%, 46.37%, 45.26%, 50.31%, and 22 , 95% compared to controls. It concluded supplementation with fish meat cork in feed can be used to improve the structure and function of post-stress duodenum.Keywords: stress, supplements, duodenum, cork fish, Channa striata, Wistar

Abstract

Neem leaves contain flavonoid, triterpenoid and saponin compounds that have antifertility potential to suppress of reproduction rate of rodentia pests. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of neem leaf ethanol extract on gonadosomatic index (GSI), number and size of atresia follicles in female mice. This study used a Completely Randomized Design Method consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications namely K + (Contraceptive Pills); K- (Aqua); P1, P2 and P3 (Treatment of neem leaf ethanol extract at dosage of 8.4 mg / kgBW, 11.2 mg / kgBW and 14 mg / kgBW). The treatment was administered orally at a volume of 0.2 ml / animal every morning for 21 days. Measurement of body weight was conducted at the beginning of treatment and every 7 days. The ovaries were isolated, weighed and histologically processed using paraffin method and H & E staining. the number and diameter of atresia follicles were counted on ovaries. The data was analyzed using ANOVA test and DMRT test at 95% confidence level. The results showed that neem leaf ethanol extract had no significant effect GSI and diameter of atresia follicle but had significant effect on the number of atresia follicle. It can be concluded that neem leaf ethanol extract can increase the number of atresia follicle in mice by suppressing the synthesis and action of reproductive hormone. Abstract

Cornu ammonis (CA3 dan CA1) merupakan struktur di hipokampus yangmerupakan pusat learning and memory. Penelitian ini dilakukan untukmemperoleh gambaran perbaikan histologis lapisan CA3 dan CA1 dihipokampus otak tikus setelah suplementasi daging ikan gabus dalam pakanpasca stres. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Hewan ujiyang digunakan adalah Tikus Wistar jantan. Perlakuan yang diberikan,meliputi P0: kontrol, yaitu tikus Wistar yang dikondisikan stres selama 6 hariyang diikuti pemberian pakan tanpa suplementasi daging ikan gabus selama 14hari; P1, P2, P3, dan P4, berturut-turut adalah tikus Wistar yang dikondisikan stres yang diikuti pemberian pakan dengan suplementasi daging ikan gabus5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20%. Variabel penelitian yang diukur adalah ketebalanlapisan CA3 dan CA1. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Analysisof Variance (ANOVA) pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan dilanjutkan denganuji Duncan dengan taraf signifikansi 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanPemberian pakan dengan suplementasi daging ikan gabus sebanyak 15%selama 14 hari pada tikus Wistar pasca stres memberi pengaruh terbaik padaperbaikan histologis lapisan CA3 dan CA1 hipokampus, berturut-turut 53,60μm2 (17,49%) dan 46,31 μm2 (78,32%), lebih baik dibanding kontrol.Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah Pemberian pakan dengan suplementasidaging ikan gabus selama 14 hari pada tikus Wistar pasca stres dapatmemperbaiki lapisan CA3 dan CA1 di hipokampus otak.Kata kunci: cornu ammonis, daging ikan gabus, hipokampus, learning and memory,suplemen

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh gambaran histologis duodenum,yang meliputi diameter, panjang vili, dan tebal lapisan mukosa setelahpemberian pakan dengan suplementasi daging ikan gabus pada tikus Wistardari waktu pasca stres. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini terdiri atas P0: kontrol,hewan uji yang dikondisikan stres 6 hari yang diikuti pemberian pakan tanpasuplementasi daging ikan gabus; P1, P2, P3, dan P4 adalah hewan uji yangdikondisikan stres selama 6 hari dan diberi pakan dengan suplementasi dagingikan gabus selama 14 hari, berturut-turut 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20% dari waktupasca stres. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Parameter yang diukur pada penelitian ini adalah diameter, panjang vili, danketebalan lapisan mukosa duodenum usus halus. Data yang diperolehdianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkandengan uji Duncan dengan taraf signifikansi 95%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian iniadalah bahwa pemberian pakan dengan suplementasi daging ikan gabus dengankonsentrasi 15% memberi pengaruh pada peningkatan diameter, panjang vili, danketebalan lapisan mukosa duodenum, berturut-turut 2520 μm, 576,34 μm, dan 506μm, masing-masing lebih tinggi 23,43%, 46,37%, dan 45,26% dibanding kontrol.Kata kunci: daging ikan gabus, diameter vili, panjang vili, ketebalan lapisanmukosa duodenum dan suplemen
