Abstract

Mining activities resulted on environmental degradation and ecosystem damage. Legume cover crop forming symbiosis with beneficial soil microorganism is widely well known to be used for degraded land reclamation such as in post mining area. Desmodium spp. is one of legume cover crop forming symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and rhizobium. This study aimed: (1) to isolate and characterize AMF collected from rhizosfer of 4 species of Desmodium spp. grow in gold mining of PT. Cibaliung Sumberdaya, Banten; (2) to study the growth of Octomeles sumatrana planted together with D. ovalifolium inoculated with AMF. Soil collected from post mining was used as growth media. There were two factors in this study: AMF inoculation and compost treatments. Based on morphological characteristics after culture breeding , there were 23 spesies of Glomus sp. and 3 spesies of Acaulospora sp. isolated from 4 spesies of Desmodium spp. collected in PT. Cibaliung Sumberdaya. Inoculation of AMF and compost application increased height of O. sumatrana in two weeks after planting. Single inoculation of AMF into O. sumatrana improved height and increased number of spore as well. Combination of compost with post mining soil had the highest increased in height, diameter, total biomass, roots biomass, and sprout biomass of O. sumatrana.

Abstract

 The study was carried out for investigation of the adaptability of white jabon seedlings from 12 populations to drought and water logging stresses in a controlled green house. The results showed that the adaptive responses of white jabon seedling to drought and waterlogging stresses were affected by genotype (population). The drought and waterlogging stresses significantly inhibited plant growth, biomass accumulation and allocation, leaf area, also decreased chlorophyll content, increased carotenoids contents, and accumulated free proline. Relative water content and specific leaf area tended to be higher in waterlogging and declined in drought stresses.  The result clearly indicated that white jabon seedlings were more adaptive to waterlogging than to drought stresses. Moreover, there were different responses to drought and waterlogging stresses between the twelve populations. Kampar, Gowa, Kuala Kencana and OKI populations exhibited higher growth performance and stress tolerance index to be adapted to waterlogging stress, while Gowa, Pomalaa and Kampar populations had relatively better growth performance in the drought stress. Keywords: Anthocephalus cadamba, genotype, growth, population, stress tolerance index

Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim to identify species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) associated with nedum [Pericopsismooniana (Thw.) Thw.]. Soil sampling was conducted in 6 locations of nedum habitat in South-east Sulawesi. The results showed that nedum associated with 15 species of AMF that belonging to 5 families and 9 genera, Acaulosporaceae (Acaulospora scrobiculata and A. delicata), Claroideoglomeraceae (Claroideoglomus etunicatum), Glomeraceae (Glomus aggregatum, G. boreale, G. canadense, G. halonatum,G. versiforme, Rhizophagus diaphanus, R. fasciculatus, Sclerocystis clavispora and Septoglomus constrictum), Gigasporaceae (Racocetragregaria and Scutellospora auriglobosa), Ambisporaceae (Ambispora appendicula). The four species of AMF were found on nedum, i.e Glomus boreale, G. canadense, G. halonatum and Racocetra gregaria which were a new record for mycological collection of Indonesia.

Abstract

Ecosystem damage as a result of mining activity is very harmful to the environment. One of the strategy repairing the condition of post-mining land is to use legume cover crops, one type of legume cover crops is Desmodium spp., that has ability to form a symbiosis with AMF and rhizobium. The aim of this study was to determine the diversity of AMF from the four types of rhizosphere Desmodium spp. from PT. Cibaliung Sumber Daya, Banten with different types of host plants. The sampling technique of soil and roots were done by non propotional method. Soil samples were trapped with some types of host plants. Spores were isolated by wet-seaving and decanting technique, then the density of spores was measured and identified. The results showed an increasing number of spore and diversity of AMF. The number of spore before trapped was 10-89 spores per 20 g soil then increased to 16-114 spores per 20 g soil. While the AMF diversity before trapped found only 9 type of spores, consists of 8 type Glomus and 1 type Acaulospora. After trapped increased to 26 spores type AMF consists of 23 type of Glomus and 3 type of Acaulospoara. The root colonization was in range of 22.2 - 95.5%.Key word: Desmodium spp. , Cibaliung, Cover crops.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTeknik pembenihan langsung merupakan salah satu metode alternatif untuk mendukung reforestasi dan rehabilitasi hutan dan lahan di daerah tropika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode penaburan (pembenaman) benih dan gulma terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman merbau (Intsia bijuga OK.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan Cikabayan Fakultas Pertanian Institut Pertanian Bogor  yang berlangsung mulai bulan November 2008 hingga Februari 2009. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode benih dibenamkan berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pertumbuhan tanaman. Metode benih dibenamkan dapat meningkatkan tinggi (28,44 cm), daya berkecambah (95%), laju perkecambahan (12,21 hari), persen jadi benih (89,67%) dan penyerapan unsur hara N dan P dibanding dengan metode benih ditutup mulsa. Metode benih ditutup mulsa dan tidak ada penyiangan menghasilkan berat kering akar yang rendah (0,8 g).

Abstract

This study was carried out to examine the morpho-anatomical adaptation, survival, growth, biomass and nutrient uptake of lonkida (Nauclea orientalis L.) from different habitats inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on waterlogging conditions for 90 days. The results showed that the lonkida seedlings formed lenticels (100%), adventitious roots (41%) and aerenchym under waterlogging conditions. Seedling from dry land habitats, both mycorrhizal and no-mycorrhizal, have a height growth rate lower than those from other habitat types. Similarly for relative growth rates of shoot (RGRs), root (RGRr) and total (RGRt) dry weight and the ratio of root shoots. Treatments of temporal swamp habitat without waterlogging and waterlogging and savanna with waterlogging have RGRt greater than other treatments. In general, plant dry weight (root, shoot and total) and total N in roots and shoots was greater in the interactionbetween  temporalswamp habitat with no-mycorrhizal on waterlogging condition. Independently, waterlogging increase the pool of average height gain (18%), diameter (46%) and leaf area (40%), leaf length (17%) and leaf width (21%). Nonetheless, treatment waterlogging decreased variable number of leaves (9%) andAMF colonization (71%). The results of this study indicate that the seedlings from the temporal swamp has good growth and high biomass in the conditions without or with waterlogging.Keywords : arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, lonkida, morpho-anatomical adaptations, Nauclea orientalisL, swamp, waterlogging

Abstract

Kebun Bibit Rakyat (KBR) is one of government’s efforts to empower the society in order to combat degraded land through reforestation. This research aimed: 1) to identify the role of stakeholder in capacity building of the community within KBR program at Pohuwato regency. 2) to evaluate the capacity level of the community within KBR program at Pohuwato regency, 3) to formulate the collaborative strategy to the succeed of KBR program at Pohuwato regency. The datas were collected through interview, observation and questioners. The datas then were analyzed by using stakeholder analysis, gap, and SWOT. The results showed that 1) the stakeholder involved in KBR program was mostly dominated by primary stakeholder, meanwhile secondary stakeholder was not involved in KBR program even though from the identification, secondary stakeholder was concerned and influential enough towards the community capacity building within KBR program; 2) the evaluation of community capacity showed that there was gap occurred even though it was relatively small, both at the policy level, organizations and individuals; 3) based on SWOT analysis, there were some strategies that could be formulated into the programs, and they were mapped into strategic architecture portrait. Within this condition, collaboration is very important because every stakeholder would give contribution to the community capacity building.Keywords: Collaboration, stakeholders, community capacity building, Kebun Bibit Rakyat (KBR) program.ABSTRAK Program Kebun Bibit Rakyat (KBR) merupakan salah satu upaya pemerintah untuk lebih memberdayakan masyarakat dalam upaya untuk mengurangi laju kerusakan hutan dan lahan kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) Mengidentifikasi peran stakeholder untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat dalam program KBR di Kabupaten Pohuwato, 2) Mengevaluasi tingkat kapasitas masyarakat dalam program KBR di Kabupaten Pohuwato, 3) Merumuskan strategi kolaborasi untuk keberhasilan program KBR di Kabupaten Pohuwato. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi dilapangan dan kuesioner, kemudian data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis stakeholder, gap, dan SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Stakeholder yang terlibat dalam program KBR lebih didominasi oleh stakeholder primer, sementara stakeholder sekunder tidak dilibatkan dalam proses KBR padahal dari hasil identifikasi berkepentingan mempunyai pengaruh terhadap peningkatan kapasitas masyarakat dalam program KBR; 2) Evaluasi kapasitas masyarakat menunjukkan adanya gap yang terjadi walaupun relatif kecil, baik pada tingkat kebijakan, organisasi maupun individual; 3) berdasarkan hasil analisis SWOT diperoleh beberapa strategi yang kemudian dirumuskan kedalam beberapa program dan selanjutnya dipetakan kedalam gambar arsitekturstrategik. Dalam kondisi inilah maka kolaborasi menjadi penting karena setiap stakeholder dapat memberikan kontribusinya bagi upaya peningkatan kapasitas masyarakat.Kata Kunci: Kolaborasi, stakeholder, peningkatan kapasitas masyarakat, Program Kebun Bibit Rakyat (KBR)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze causes of the low uptake of the budget and formulate a strategy of maximizing the absorption of expenditure on Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Manokwari. Respondents involved are 20 people that consist of: treasury officials and holder output of activity. The data used were secondary data in the form of reports on budget realization (LRA) quarter I, II, III and IV of the fiscal year 2011 to 2015, and the primary data were in the form of interviews with the help of a questionnaire. While the analysis of the data used was descriptive analysis using data tabulation, and the analysis of the three stages strategy of the decision making used IFE and EFE matrix, SWOT matrix and QSPM matrix.The results showed that there are 19 factors causing low of budget absorption until the end of the third quarter, and there were 10 drafts of policy as a strategy for maximizing the absorption of the budget on Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Manokwari.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyebab rendahnya penyerapan anggaran belanja dan merumuskan strategi maksimalisasi penyerapan anggaran belanja pada Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Manokwari. Responden yang terlibat adalah 20 orang yaitu pejabat perbendaharaan dan pemegang output kegiatan. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder berupa laporan realisasi anggaran (LRA) triwulan I, II, III dan IV tahun anggaran 2011 sampai 2015, dan data primer berupa wawancara dengan bantuan kuesioner. Sedangkan analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif menggunakan analisis tabulasi, dan analisis analisis strategi tiga tahap pengambilan keputusan menggunakan matriks IFE dan EFE, matriks SWOT dan matriks QSPM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 19 faktor penyebab rendahnya penyerapan anggaran belanja sampai akhir triwulan III, dan terdapat 10 rancangan kebijakan sebagai strategi maksimalisasi penyerapan anggaran belanja di Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Manokwari.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to test the utilization of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) to improve adaptation ability of chili to aluminum (Al) stress based on growth and yield response in four genotypes of chili (Capsicum annuum L.).  The research was carried out at University Farm of IPB in Cikabayan from September 2006 to Maret 2007.  The media was Ultisol from Gajrug (Lebak, Banten) in polybag.  Four genotypes of chili, PBC 619 and Jatilaba (Al tolerant genotypes), and Cilibangi 3 and Helm (Al sensitive genotypes) were treated with and without inoculation of Gigaspora margarita, and planted further in media without Al stress (Al saturation 0.77%) and Al stress (Al saturation 60.85%).  Variables observed were degree of AMF infection, root length, plant height, shoot dry weight, number of harvested fruits, fruit length, fruit weight and weight of harvested fruits.  The results showed that inoculation of G. margarita effectively decreased negative influence of Al stress by increasing plant height, shoot dry weight, number of harvested fruit, fruit length, weight per fruit and weight of harvested fruits.  Inoculation of G. margarita to Al sensitive genotypes was more advantageous than to tolerant genotypes.  The Al sensitive genotypes were adapted to Al stress if they were inoculated with G. margarita.  In Al stress condition, inoculation of G. margarita to Al sensitive genotypes increased weight of harvested fruits up to 94.49% in Cilibangi 3 and 80.37% in Helm.   Key words: Adaptation, aluminum stress, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus, Capsicum annuum L., Ultisol

Abstract

This paper examines the identification of key indicators that could be used to measure the success of reclamation plants in post-exploration oil and gas mining areas. The main objective of this research was to find key indicators or variables for evaluating the level success of reclamation results in the post-mining of oil and gas area. In this study, 44 environmental variables of the physical, biological, soil, water and air indicators were analyzed from 70 field plots of 6 reclamation and 2 natural forest sites. The analysis methods included (1) cluster analysis using the Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering method with the Ward's method, and (2) quadratic discriminant analysis. The results of the clustering analysis showed that there were some clusters due to variation of biomass, water, soil and air conditions. The three clusters developed based on water and/or air variables provided high cophenetic correlation (0.80) with low within-cluster (14.5%) and high between-cluster variations (85.5%). Based on the multicollinearity analysis, average vector difference test, variance matrix variance test, unidimensional test of each variable and quadratic discriminant function, this study found that there were 3 key indicators determining variations of the quality of the reclamation plantations within the study sites, namely, biological indicator of biomass volume (Bio_B); soil indicator of P content in the soil (Tnh_P), saturation base of soil (Tnh_Kb), Manganese (Mn) content in the soil (Tnh_Mn), Sulfur content in the soil (Tnh_S), percentage of ash in the soil (Tnh_Ab), percentage of clay in the soil (Tnh_Li), and water indicator of chloride content in the surface water (Air_Cl). The examination on four classes of the reclamation quality showed that the classes were successfully classified having excellent cross-validation error matrix with overall accuracy more than 90%.
