Abstract

For al-Faruqi, Islam is an-all encompassing ideology, the primeryidentity of aworld-wide community of believers and the guiding principle forsociety and culture. This approach, this wholistic Islamic world-view, is embodiedin a life and career in which he wrote extensively, lectured and consulted withIslamic movements and national governements and organized Muslims in bothAmerica, for instance, and internationally. Al-Faruqi, who saw the world throughthe prism of his Islamic faith and commitment, focused on issues of identity,history, belief, culture, social mores and international relations. Al-Faruqi, waspreoccupied with the specific scheme of Urubahor Arabism. He described Arabism as an Arab stream where the Arabness, in fact, animates that stream andgives it momentum and provides them with their language, culture and religion.From this, he light the conceft of ummah as basis of the concept of state inwhich there are peole who has rights and duties. His pax Islamica which stoodon his arm was never conceived as monolithic society in which Islam alone predominates. To enter into the paxIslamica never meant coversion to Islam,but entry into a peacepul relationship where ideas are free to move and men arefree to convince and be convinced. Indeed, the Islamic state put all its resourcesat the disposal of all believers.

Abstract

Abstract: The article is intended to describe the religious tolerance perspective of many teachers from different religions in Primary Education (Sekolah Dasar-SD) Remaja Parakan, Temanggung; to know how the implementation of religious tolerance in the school; and to figure out how the implications of religious tolerance towards the attitude of learners religiosity in the school. By using qualitative methods, data are collected by interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed in according do Milles and Hubberman. The article finds that: First, the teacher of Islamic education declares the tolerance is an attitude of mutual respect for various beliefs or religions. Meanwhile, according to the teacher of Christian education, religious tolerance is one's belief in eliminating the ego by respecting other people without looking at their religions. In other words, religious tolerance is an understanding that teaches life to respect the right to freedom of religion. Furthermore, according to the teacher of Buddhist Education, religious tolerance is socializing in the community without carrying religious labels. Second, the internalization of religious tolerance at the school is already quite good, and this is evidenced by the absence of conflict in the name of religion. Third, generally, the religious attitude of students is included in the category of inclusive religious attitudes.

Abstract

The academic problems in this research is to answer the position of Islamic Educational Psychology that should be, by trying to view Islamic Educational Psychology from a philosophical perspective, for more precisely maqashid shari'ah.Maqashid syari'ah which was initiated by Jasser Auda is actually used for legal/sharia studies as a form of contemporary philosophy that responds to the dullness of the two previous philosophies, which are modern and postmodern philosophy. The concept of maqashid shari'ah that is often called the system philosophy approach has contributed to analyze the Islamic Education Psychology. With the six features, which are: Cognitive traits, Wholeness, Openness, Interrelated Hierarchies, Multi-dimensional, Always Aiming (purposefulness), that become the frame of reference in this paper to analyze Islamic Educational Psychology.This research began by reviewing the biography and thoughts of Jasser Auda about maqashid shari'ah, that continued by Jasser Auda's recommendations in system analysis. The next study examines the contribution of Jasser Auda's maqashid al syari'ah in Islamic Educational Psychology which shows that Islamic Educational Psychology is a dynamic discipline.  Keywords: Maqashid Al-Syari’ah, Jasser Auda, Islamic Education Psychology

Abstract

This work aims at revealing the implications of modernization and improvement of the living standards of the middle-class Malay Muslim community in Pontianak City. The modern world has proven to affects the aspects of religion and culture of the people in the globe, including the Malay Muslims in Pontianak. This is based on research employing qualitative approach with the support of ethnographic activities. Observations and in-depth interviews were to support the data collection from middle-class Malay Muslims in Pontianak. The work suggests that the modernization and improvement of the social class of Pontianak Malay Muslims has changed their relationship to the Malay culture where they have become more selective towards existing customs and traditions. In addition, the increase in the living standards has in fact also increased the desire of Malay Muslims towards various efforts to affirm class identity. Modern Malay Muslims tend to addopt modern life style with the supports of Islamic teachings they practice in everyday life as they consider Islam as the foundation of their customs and traditions. The hegemony of modernity has penetrated the life of the Malay Muslims and influenced the characteristics of their religiousity and Malaydom to a more modernized style.

Abstract

This research aims to address the decline in character values that occur in the world of education, this is indicated by the frequent occurrence of immoral acts by students and educators. So that schools provide alternative solutions to overcoming problems by cultivating prophetic values in character building. This study uses qualitative research with an ethnographic approach, namely an approach based on experience and theory that aims to describe and analyze culture in depth. The research subjects included school principals, deputy heads of curriculum, deputy heads of student affairs, Ismuba teachers, and students to dig deeper into information about cultivating prophetic values. While collecting data in this study using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process of researcher uses data condensation, data display, and verification processes. The validity of the data researchers used data triangulation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the promotion of prophetic values in character building at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok is carried out in two ways, namely through Ismuba education learning activities and cultural programs. Cultivating prophetic values in learning is done by getting used to praying before learning, saying greetings, monitoring the cleanliness of the classroom environment, neatness, and discipline of students, mutual respect, and helping each other. Meanwhile, cultivating school culture is carried out using clean living habits, discipline, responsibility, shame, praying in congregation, helping, Muslim dress, literacy, and enthusiasm for learning. The results of this study have implications for the importance of the commitment of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Depok personnel to increase the cultivation of prophetic values through exemplary and habituation methods.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the negotiations between two Islamic movement organizations, Salafi and Jamaah Ansharus Syariah (JAS), as conservative Islamic movements whose main goal is to return to the original sources of Islam, the Qur'an and As-Sunnah. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research design with data collection methods through observation, interactive interviews, and documentation conducted in two educational institutions owned by Salafi and JAS, using primary and secondary data sources. The research findings are as follows. First, it shows that Salafi and JAS, as fundamentalist movement groups, are capable of conducting cooperative negotiations using the concept of political agonism. Second, the negotiation process of Salafi and JAS emphasizes the concept of nationalism for the sake of the operational interests of educational institutions. Third, Salafi and JAS develop their movement ideology among students and their parents. This research portrays the existence of Pseudo Nationalism, positioning themselves in a contemporary style and acting as an anchor for balance, thereby impacting the existence and strengthening of their ideology.

Abstract

Learning problems become a study that is always reviewed to facilitate students in the learning process. Conventional learning that is constantly being applied in educational institutions in Indonesia, especially Early Childhood Education (PAUD) by means of teachers giving lectures then students listen to it and the teacher gives worksheets to children without regard to children's interests or interests. This article is structured to provide a study of experiential learning in PAUD which is seen from the perspective of the understanding of teachers and parents. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The subjects of this study consisted of principals, teachers, volunteers and parents or guardians of TA SALAM Yogyakarta students. Data collection techniques using semi-structured interviews with data analysis coding. The results of this study indicate that teachers' perceptions about experiential learning in PAUD are in accordance with the theory put forward by David A. Kolb and Experiential learning is very suitable to be applied in PAUD.

Abstract

This research answers academic anxiety that departs from a study of the complexity of the problems faced by doctoral students in Indonesia. The existing phenomenon is that doctoral students in Indonesia who are scattered in various public and private universities with various fields of knowledge still face many technical and non-technical problems caused by problems that are both academic and non-academic in nature. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the phenomenological study method developed by Edmund Husserl. Data collection techniques use literature and field studies through interviews, documentation and observation. The primary data source is postgraduate students, and the secondary data source is the Postgraduate Director, Head of Study Program and administrative staff. Data analysis in this qualitative research consists of three streams of activities that occur simultaneously, namely data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions or verification. Data checking in this research is based on four criteria, namely, degree of trustworthiness, transferability, dependability, and certainty. The findings from this study include the theoretical level regarding the conceptualization of the Portrait of Doctoral Programs in Indonesia as an Educational Phenomenon and dissertation as Research Identity of Doctoral Programs (Standards and Characteristics). This research also found academic and non-academic problems for doctoral students in Indonesia. The implications of the results of this research are to provide recommendations for ideas for the academic community for making decisions and academic policies as well as formulating a quality education system and improving the quality assurance of postgraduate doctoral education in Indonesia.
