Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the awareness, competency level, and constraints of information literacy among non-formal education tutors in DKI Jakarta Capital Special Territory. There are forty seven (or 94%) respondents from the tutor population in DKI Jakarta. Data was collected by using questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The research findings show that most respondents stated that they understand information literacy terminology. he respondents can evaluate and manage information they found. Although this competency has not meet information literacy standards yet, they able to find information to meet their immediate needs. According to the respondents, the biggest constraint on information literacy lays on their own effort and willingness, their lack of motivation and skill to find information. The external constraints include lack of information access infrastructure (and facilities), and due to the high cost of retrieving information. In order to support tutor’s tasks and activities, the respondents stated that they need courses and training, especially regarding information searching, foreign languages, introduction to computer and internet access, research methodology, and scientific writing. This research recomend to improve tutor’s information literacy competece especially information retrieval, information repackaging, and writing skills.

Abstract

PDII had a unit in Puspiptek Serpong called UPJ PDII Serpong in charge of providing access to scientific information. To improve its service quality, it was necessary to evaluate user’s perception on provided services and compared it to the other library services in Puspiptek area. Evaluation was done on user’s satisfaction in the aspects of content, personnel, facilities, and price. Data were collected using questionnaires in the form of Google Form. Questionnaires were distributed to researchers in Puspiptek Serpong area, which were from LIPI, BATAN, and BPPT. Data obtained were analyzed using statistic descriptive method. Performance aspects were analyzed using Shannon Entropy to get the weight and the rank performances. The Performance of UPJ PDII Serpong compared tothe similar institutions using the Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. Result showed that the customer satisfaction consist of content availability, servicespeed, price, librarian’s attitude, facilities, suitability of the content had an index of satisfaction with the value of B (Good). The librarian’s attitude had the highest performance, followed by the availability and suitability of content, service speed, facilities, and price. The performance of UPJ PDII Serpong superior in all aspects compared to BPPT and BATAN library performance.

Abstract

The reinventory of 84 titles of library and information sciencepublication which has an ISSN shows that 46.43% publications are still published. The description was: 43.59% publications published by academic institution, 46.15% published by department institution/non departemen institution, and 10.26% published by private institution include professional association. The mayor of publications (74.36%) are published in P. Jawa area. Generally, the presentation of publication are in less compliance with the standard SNI 19-1950-1990. Until now, none of the library and information science publication is accredited by DIKTl or include as science publication base on assessment made by P2JP- LIPI.

Abstract

Librarian job satisfaction is influenced by a number of factors, among others, the working environment, motivation, and compensation. Knowing the relationship between these factors will be helpful for the improvement of job satisfaction, which in turn will improve the professionalism of librarians. This study aims to measure the correlation between these factors. Respondents are librarians within Indonesian Institute of Science, with the post of librarian executing, implementing advanced, supervisors, first, the young and middle. Collecting data using questionnaires, while the correlation measurement using the method of Kendal and Spearman. The study results show that there is no significant relationship between work environment factors and compensation as well as among the factors of motivation and compensation.
