Abstract

The community service activities to develop practical skill of teenager on seedling production of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) through counseling and training at Situ Ilir Village. This training was begin with counseling followed by training for seedling production of pure culture (F0), spread seeds (F1), and planting seeds (F2). The quality of this training was assured by comprehensive monitoring and evaluation. In each step of seedling production, variations of sterilization medium were used and was then analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. The characterization results using FTIR shows stretching vibration in mycelium for pure culture and planting seeds. The stretching vibration identify the presence of several functional of groups C-O, C-N, C=O, C-H, O-H, and β-D-glucan. The results of this training also shows that after several practice and intensive guidance the teenager were able to produce seeds of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) without supervision.

Abstract

Situ Ilir Village located in Cibungbulang Subdistrict, Bogor District, West Java, which has the potential for substantial human resources for the more advanced, unfortunately majority of people's livelihood as traditional farmers. One of the potential contained in this village is oyster mushroom farm. The results of guidance and cooperation of the students of physics IPB like oyster mushroom production training has been carried out in this village, however the marketing less than the maximum. For example many young mushroom or fungus inadvertently severed by farmers to be not worth selling and discarded. By looking at this potential, then came the idea to create a health drink of the oyster mushroom. The aim of this community service are able to give the value of the oyster mushroom selling agricultural products, to increase public knowledge about the benefits of oyster mushrooms, and maximize human resources at Situ Ilir Village. The method used in this training are extension of oyster mushrooms, manufacture of health drinks, and β-glucan analysis using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). This activity resulted in products processed from oyster mushroom as a health drink rich in β-glucan shown from the results of FTIR analysis, that can increase the sale value of the oyster mushroom and enhance the creativity of the human resources in the Situ Ilir Village, Cibungbulang Subdistrict, Bogor District, West Java.

Abstract

Quality of oyster mushrooms depends on quality of oyster mushrooms seeds. Synthesis of oyster mushrooms seeds in this research consist of manufacture of potato dextrose agar (PDA), manufacture of pure seeds (F0), manufacture of scatter seeds (F1), and manufacture of planting seeds (F2). Sterilization of PDA has three variations, they are first level, second level, and third level with temperature 102 oC. Analysis protein (C-N) of micelium oyster mushroom with FTIR. Analysis of FTIR shows spring constant of C-N for pure seeds is 671 Nm-1, scatter seeds is 587 Nm-1, and pelanting seeds is 671 Nm-1. The bigger spring constant the more strong molekuler bonding , means big energy required to sever ties that molecule. Keywords : FTIR, micelium, molecular bonding, protein, spring constant

Abstract

Oyster mushroom’s mycelium was inoculated by sorgum media’s seed were done. FTIR analisys in 400-4000 cm-1 of wave length showed that oyster mushroom’s mycelium possessed of O-H, C-H, C-O, and C=O molecul. O-H molecul showed β-glucan and C-H, C-O, and C=O molecul showed aldehyd, ester, and keton cluster. Keywords: cluster, FTIR, mycelium, oyster mushroom, sorgum.

Abstract

Tapioca is a natural polymer that is widely used as a raw material for hydrogels. In order to improve the mechanical properties of tapioca-based hydrogels, this research modified tapioca by acid hydrolysis method for 2 hours and 24 hours and by ethanol precipitation method. This modified tapioca was further treated with epichlorohydrin with various concentrations of 0, 5, 10, and 20% to produce a three-dimensional cross-linked structure. The results showed that the increasing of epichlorohydrin concentration led to an increasing in the mechanical properties of the hydrogels consisting of hardness, stress, modulus of elasticity, and cross-linked density. The hydrogel from tapioca hydrolyzed for 24 hours and 20% epichlorohydrin was the sample with the best mechanical properties with a hardness of 19.78 mJ, a stress of 78.65 kPa, a modulus of elasticity of 233.84 mJ, and a cross-linked density of 57.61 × 1024 m-3.

Abstract

Ganitri (Elaeocarpus sphaericus (Gaertn.) K. Schum.) adalah pohon cepat tumbuh yang banyak ditemukan di Sukabumi. Kayu ini tumbuh di hampir semua wilayah Indonesia. Tulisan ini menyajikan hasil pengujian sifat dasar (struktur anatomi, kimia, sifat fisis dan mekanis) kayu ganitri yang diambil dari hutan rakyat di daerah Sukabumi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui potensi penggunan kayu ganitri berdasarkan sifat dasar dan penggunaan kayu oleh masyarakat sekitar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kayu ganitri memiliki kayu teras berwarna kuning dan kayu gubal berwarna putih. Corak kayu polos dan tekstur halus. Arah serat lurus sampai berpadu, kayu lunak, tidak mengkilap, dan tidak berbau. Berdasarkan nilai dimensi serat dan nilai turunannya, kayu ganitri termasuk ke dalam Kelas Mutu II. Kayu ganitri memiliki kadar holoselulosa dan selulosa yang tinggi (70,70% dan 54,58%), kadar sedang untuk lignin 21,60%, ekstraktif alkohol-benzena 3,47%, dan kadar abu 0,81%. Dengan berat jenis (BJ) kering udara 0,35 kayu ganitri termasuk ke dalam Kelas Kuat IV. Kayu tersebut disarankan untuk digunakan sebagai bahan bangunan konstruksi ringan, perkakas, furnitur, kayu lapis, papan sambung dan produk panel. Basic Properties of Ganitri Wood (Elaeocarpus sphaericus (Gaertn.) K. Schum from Sukabumi and Its Potential UsesAbsractGanitri (Elaeocarpus sphaericus (Gaertn.) K. Schum.) is a fastgrowing tree that is widely found in Sukabumi, West Java. It grows in all part of Indonesia. A research was carried out to investigate basic properties (anatomical, physical, mechanical, and chemical) of ganitri wood from the community forest of Sukabumi. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential use of ganitri wood based on its basic properties and local utilization. The results showed that the color of ganitri sapwood was white , and it was not clearly demarcated from the yellow, with fewer figure patterns. The texture was fine with straight to interlocked grain. The wood was soft, not lustrous, and no special odor. Based on the fibre dimensions and derivative values, the quality of ganitri wood fell in Class II as a raw material for pulp and paper. Ganitri had high holocellulose and cellulose levels (70.70% and 54.58%), moderate level in lignin (21.60%), and it contained 3.47% extractive soluble in alcohol-benzene, and 0.81% ash. Based on its air dry specific gravity (0,35), ganitri wood could be classified into wood Strength Class IV. The potential uses of ganitri are for lightweight construction material, tools, furniture, plywood, connecting boards, and other panel products.

Abstract

The Super Water Absorbent (SWA) polymer is a type of polymer that has exceptional water absorption capabilities while remaining insoluble in water. In this study, the authors conducted research on the modification of SWA by including acrylic acid and acrylamide monomers, followed by a crosslinking process utilising gamma irradiation. This study investigated the impact of acrylic acid and gamma irradiation on the mechanical characteristics of SWA. The experimental findings demonstrated a notable enhancement in the mechanical properties of the hydrogel by the incorporation of acrylic acid. This was evidenced by a substantial rise in the hardness value, which rose from 11.09 mJ to 36.13 mJ.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan sifat optik, energi pergeseran Stokes, energi celah pita (Eg), gugus fungsi senyawa kimia dan ukuran karbon nano partikel atau Carbon Nanoparticles (CPNs). Sifat optik terdiri dari absorbansi dan intensitas flouresens yang dihasilkan oleh metode sintesis hidrotermal (150, 160, dan 180) ºC. Panjang gelombang absorbansi dan intensitas flouresens terdeteksi dengan metode spektroskopi UV-Vis (396.31, 399.61, dan 411.24) nm dan eksitasi laser 405 nm untuk emisi flouresens (524.18, 512.04, dan 510.92) nm. Energi pergeseran Stokes diperoleh berdasarkan perbedaan energi foton untuk ekesitasi (absorbansi) dan emisi (flouresen) dengan nilai (0.59, 0.55 dan 0.69) eV. Energi celah pita (Eg) ditentukan dengan mengekstrapolasi grafik ke rentang linier untuk memotong sumbu energi foton. Nilai Eg adalah (2.55, 3.43, dan 2.50) eV. Spektrum dan nilai koefisien ekstensi (k), konduktivitas optik (σopt) meningkat sedangkan indeks bias (n) menurun sering bertambahnya suhu hidrotermal. Spektrum FT-IR dan ukuran CNPs dilakukan dengan menggunakan sampel suhu 180 ºC. Gugus fungsi kimia yang terbentuk adalah C-H, C-N, N=C=S, O=C=O serta senyawa Nitrogen (NO2). Ukuran rata-rata nano partikel karbon adalah 11.09 nm berdasarkan intensitas (%), volume (%) dan nomor (%) partikel pada sampel CNPs.
