Abstract

The objective of this research was to know an analysis on Novel “ The Zahir” By Paulo Coelho about plots, the main characters, the settings, the purpose, the style and tone, the symbols, the structural and sense devices, and the theme. This research was a descriptive qualitative design that would do library research because it attempted to find out and to explain the literary elements of novel “The Zahir” by Paulo Coelho (2005) based on theory of X.J. Kennedy (1991) and L.G. Alexander (1979). The method of collecting the data in qualitative research used Triangulation. All the data was analyzed based on the related theories. The novel was about a free man Paulo Coelho with full of obsession on looking his Zahir Esther because of his mistakes in past time. In the beginning, the story told about Esther struggled to change Paulo Coelho’s freedom by making him to be famous writer. The middle part told about Paulo was left by his wife. The ending part told about his efforts to look for her wife until he could find Esther in Kazakhstan. The purpose of the novel was to tell us that we had to appreciate our beloved person.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan Strategi Menulis Talk Talk pada Teks Deskriptif Siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan desain Quasi-Eksperimental. Peneliti mengambil 60 siswa yang digunakan sebagai populasi dan 60 siswa dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian dengan menggunakan cluster sampling. Data diperoleh melalui tes esai. Tulisan siswa dinilai dengan menggunakan Brown's Formula. Untuk menganalisis data, penulis menggunakanIBMSPSS 20.0. Dari analisis data, rata-rata skor menulis pada kelompok eksperimen adalah 81,58, sedangkan rata-rata skor menulis pada kelompok kontrol adalah 64,20. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan skor t-test lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (5,12 1,67). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan strategi pengajaran Think Talk Write terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif.Kata kunci: Think Talk Write (TTW), Stategy, Menulis, DeskriptifAbstract. Abstract

Abstrak: Pembelajaran kooperatif bukanlah fenomena baru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Pembelajaran kooperatif memiliki banyak jenis teknik; salah satu tekniknya adalah jigsaw. Teknik jigsaw adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif yang terdiri dari beberapa anggota dalam satu kelompok yang bertanggung jawab atas materi pelajaran dan dapat mengajarkan topik tersebut kepada anggota kelompok lain, dengan kegiatan diskusi yang dapat membantu siswa untuk aktif di kelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik Jigsaw pada pemahaman membaca pada semester kedua dari Sekolah Pelatihan Guru di Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif yang dirancang dengan menerapkan desain Quasi-Eksperimental. Dalam melakukan desain ini, subjek penelitian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Perawatan ini hanya diperkenalkan pada subjek eksperimen. Kelompok eksperimen diperlakukan dengan menggunakan teknik Jigsaw sedangkan kelompok kontrol diperlakukan tanpa teknik Jigsaw. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kemampuan membaca siswa Bahasa Inggris pada semester kedua Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. Peneliti menggunakan ponsel sebagai instrumen yang merekam video kegiatan dosen dan siswa selama proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada taraf signifikansi 5%, nilai t-observ t-table yaitu (5,55 1,669). Dapat dikatakan bahwa t-mengamati lebih tinggi dari t-tabel. Jadi, hipotesis nol ditolak sementara hipotesis alternatif diterima. Dengan kata lain dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik mengajar Jigsaw secara signifikan mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam membaca pemahaman teks recount di Semester Kedua Pelatihan Guru dan Pendidikan Universitas HKBP Nommensen PematangsiantarKata kunci: Efek, Teknik Jigsaw, Kemampuan Membaca Abstract : Cooperative learning is not a new phenomenon in teaching learning process. Cooperative learning has many kinds of technique; one of the technique is jigsaw. Jigsaw technique is a cooperative learning model that consists of several members in one group that responsible for the lesson materials and be able to teach the topic to other member of group, by discussion activities which can help the students to be active in the class. The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Jigsaw technique on reading comprehension at second semester of Teacher Training College in Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. The researcher used descriptive quantitative research designed by applying Quasi-Experimental design. In conducting this design, the subjects of the research were divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. The treatment is introduced only to the experimental subject. The experimental group is treated by using Jigsaw technique while the control group is treated without Jigsaw technique. The subject of this research was The English students’ reading in reading ability at second semester of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar. The researcher used mobile phone as instrument which recorded video Lecturer and students activity during teaching and learning process in the class. The result of the research showed that in significance degree of 5%, the value of t-observe t-table that was (5.55 1.669). It could be said that t-observe was higher than t-table. So, the null hypothesis is rejected while the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In other words it can be concluded that the application of Jigsaw teaching technique significantly affects the students’ ability in reading comprehension of recount text at  Second Semester of Teacher Training  and Education Faculty  of Universitas HKBP Nommensen PematangsiantarKeywords : Effect, Jigsaw Technique, Reading Ability

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to solve students' problems in writing narrative text, such as they lack vocabulary and they are difficult in certain generic structures. Students are not interested in Writing skills. Students still have difficulty expressing their ideas and they are bored in writing. Students' writing skills, especially narrative texts, are still low. This research is an experimental research. The purpose of this study was to find out which is more significant between the influence of Free Writing Techniques on Students' Writing Ability in writing narrative texts. Teaching writing narrative texts using free writing techniques or teaching writing narrative texts using conventional methods. The research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental research. The score data was taken from class XI students of SMA N. 5 Pematangsiantar. Which consists of 150 students who were selected by taking classes XI IA3 and XI IA4 as samples. In this study, the scores for writing narrative texts in the control group and the experimental group were used as data collection. There are two data used in this study. Namely: pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using the t-test formula. After analyzing the data, the results showed that the t-test was 2.72 and t-table = 2.003. The results showed that the t-test value was higher than the t-table t-test > t-table (2.72 > 2.003). It can be concluded that the application of Free Writing Techniques has a significant effect on Students' Ability in Writing Narrative Texts.

Abstract

This research is conducted in order to find out, namely: (1) The ways of Guest Star implement their Language Attitude during giving comments about the questions made by Andy, (2) The ways of Guest Star implement their Turn-Taking during giving comments about the questions made by Andy, and (3) The reason of Guest Star behave as the way they are in giving comments. The research method applied for this research is qualitative research. Instrument used to gather the data is the record of the conversation between Andy and Guest Star in the TV talk show. The writer analyzed the data then categorized into the components of Language Attitude and a framework for Turn-Taking. The findings of the research, namely: (1) It occurred dominantly applied the Affective Component on the utterances of them, and (2) The Guest Star gave their individual’s perception upon their responds. The Guest Star arranged their thought, opinion, suggestion, emotion, belief and action

Abstract

Internet addiction is becoming one of the worrying phenomena for Indonesian teenagers. The internet has an impact on our lives, both positive and negative. The positive impact of the Internet includes helping children learn to explore, cognitively train, relieve tension or provide entertainment, and. affiliated with peers. While the negative impact that can occur when using the internet excessively is disrupting family life, work, education, sleep, hobbies, and social relationships. The most common threat when a person is addicted is his or her inability to regulate emotions. A person will more often feel feelings of sadness, loneliness, anger, shame, fear to go out, be in situations of high family conflict, and have low self-confidence. These results in children and adolescents can become introverted and indifferent to the surrounding environment, thus affecting their social life, such as relationships with peers or family. It is likely that it can plunge children and adolescents who are addicted to the internet into criminal acts, both in the real world and cyberspace.

Abstract

In early 2020, the world was shocked by an outbreak of a new disease that started in Wuhan, Hubei Province, which then spread rapidly to more than 190 countries and territories. This outbreak was named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). The spread of this disease has had a broad social and economic impact as well as educationDuring this time of COVID-19, it has had a major influence on human life, both in terms of thinking and even in people's lifestyles, which has made this very important, especially in health. A healthy lifestyle plays an important role in the Covid-19 Pandemic. For this reason, there is a need for socialization in providing an understanding of Healthy Lifestyles to be prioritized in the community so that this is also one way to reduce the spread of the epidemic which is preventive in nature. The method used is the method of socialization held in the village of Siantar Estate. As a result, the community increasingly understands the Healthy Lifestyle with Nutritious Food and maintains cleanliness.

Abstract

A Contrastive Analysis between English and Indonesian Adjective Clause is the focus of this work. Analyzing adjective clause and pointing out similarities and differences between English and Indonesian adjective clause are the study's main goals. This investigation is qualitative. The researchers started by gathering information from books on English and Indonesian grammar. Second, the researchers located them on all different kinds of adjective clauses. The collected and categorized data were finally examined. According to the analysis's findings, there were all different kinds of adjective clauses. The researchers were able to identify the similarities and differences in the data after analysis. Based on functional distinctions, whose, which, and that are employed in sentences in English but not in Indonesian

Abstract

Literasi menjadi salah satu pondasi utama yang perlu dijarkan di tingkatan sekolah dasar. Bila pondasi literasi sudah kuat sejak tingkat SD, maka selanjutnya peserta didik akan dapat dengan cepat mengikuti pembelajaran. Pemerintah saat ini juga sedang gencar juga meningkatkan budaya literasi dengan salah satu gebrakan yaitu Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Rendahnya budaya literasi dan nilai-nilai karakter dilingkunagn anak-anak, remaja saat ini perlu ditingatkan. Hal ini yang mendorong tim untuk melakukan PkM dengan judul PkM “ Penguatan Literasi Berbasis Pendidikan Karakter” Di SD Negeri. No. 128077 Kota Pematangsiantar. Seminar ini di  ikuti 12 Guru di sekolah tersebut. Budaya literasi dapat juga ditingkatkan dengan pendidikan karakter. Budaya literasi dapat juga ditingkatkan dalam pendidikan karakter. Budaya literasi dan pendidikan karakater ibarat dua sisi matalogam yang tidak dapat dipisahkan dengan berliterasi dapat juga membentuk karakter peserta didik. 18 nilai-nilai karakter dapat meningkatkan penguatan literasi. Para guru harus mampu menyelaraskan antara literasi dengan nilai-nilai karakter.
