Abstract

As a strategy of the political culture, religious assimilation constructed in New Order has become a concept which is considered uneffective and failure. The Post-reformation era has become the sign of the failure of the concept of religous assimilation. The policy of the religious assimilation which is disigned for reducing conflicts between ‘Pribumi vs Tionghoa’. In fact, it has sharpenned and deepened the gaps between the two groups. Religious conversion by the Chiness in terms of assimilationism of new order turns to be a political strategy to describe and to have the pribumi identity which is considered as the majority and muslim. In this case, everyone can claim their own identity and say “who I am”, “who you are”, and “who we are”. In the future, for the agenda of assimilation, religious conversion will loose it’s the relevance. It is see that the process of assimilation appears from social engeneering that separates the differences of cultural roots of ‘Tionghoa-Pribumi’ while the contestation of culture in area of multiculturalism reunites the entity of diversity into the singgel identity. Therefore, the celebration of Chines New Year (IMLEK) in mosques in Yogyakarta becomes a form of integration of identity between Tionghoa-Islam and Java.

This paper quests the new Acehness identity that inspiring lokal revival in Aceh. Two important thingsthat would support the thesis how the ideas of new Aceh or Aceh revival are formulated from within? At least, the strengthening of public space as a local knowledge base management becomes an importantdiscourse in the course of the indicator measuring the local revival in Aceh. In addition, the process offormation of Acehnese identity is also one of the research questions of this paper, in which this practicehas marked the end of a local revival is being formulated in Aceh. Therefore, the questions about theprocess of dialogue and negotiation as what is growth in Aceh recently, will be discussed in this research. This research shows that the reactualization of public spaces that has been sunk by the conflict or thetsunami, now it is resurrected to turn the social bases that have been lost and even blurred. Whail, local wisdom and its discourse had reached the implementation of the policy through a qonun as aform of maintenance an intellectual heritage of Aceh to be kept alive and implemented. Communalconsciousness constructed by the fact that many of these actors have been integrated through variousforms of dialogue and long negotiation. So don’t be surprised if the recent in-meunasah, gampong orvillage activities turn on the mosque as a center of Islamic studies, and even coffee shops also determinethe direction of Acehnese identity is being created, especially as the idea of Aceh revival.

Abstract

As a strategy of the politic of culture, religious assimilation constructed in New Order has become a concept which is considered ineffective and failed. The policy of the religious assimilation designed for reducing conflicts between "Pribumi vs Tionghoa", in fact, has deepened the gaps between the two groups. Religious conversion by the Chinese in terms of assimilation of New Order turns to be a political strategy to describe and to have the pribumi identity. It is a political strategy to hide the aspects of Chinese and Non-muslim in their identity in order to be accepted as "Pribumi." Everyone can claim their own identity and say "who I am," who you are", and who we are". By doing so, it is part of the way for people to understand each identity that emphasize on the common identity. In the future, religious conversion will loose its the relevance, especially in the context of contestation of global culture. The contestation of culture in area of multiculturalism reunites the entity of diversity into single identity. Therefore, The celebrition of Chinese new year (Imlek) in mosques in Yogyakarta becomes a form of integration of identity between Tionghoa Islam and Java.

Abstract

This study began with an assumption that multicultural education model is practiced in schools in a very limited scope. Therefore, through the subject of PPKN (Civics Education) in schools, multicultural education can be developed. In addition, the school as a laboratory of diversity at the scope of educational institutions is an important medium in the discourse of multicultural education. As a conceptual formulation that was built through the 2013curriculum, the instructional model of Civics education-based on multiculturalism was found to be able to stimulate students’ character building in a more effective, quick and strategic manner. The school, in addition to being an important laboratory of diversity, should also provide multicultural instruction in Civics education with the materials that aid the vision of Civics education instruction with a content of multicultural education in a productive, creative, innovative, and affective way as well as having an effect on the students so as to contribute to the social, civic life and more importantly to the process of building the character and attitude of tolerance among students in schools. Through multicultural education in schools, students learn to accept and understand the cultural differences that affect the differences in usage (how people behave); folkways (habits in the community), mores (code of conduct in the community), and customs (tradition of a community). With multicultural education, learners will be able to accept differences, criticism, and have a sense of empathy, tolerance for others regardless of class, status, gender, ehnic, religion and academic skills.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper explores the new form of Acehnese identity that has inspired the revival of the local in Aceh. Two important points will be explored in this paper: 1) the idea of a new Aceh and 2) how this Aceh revivalism is formulated from within. This paper studies the process of dialogue and renegotiation of local wisdom and practices and Acehnese identity in public space. This study shows that the renegotiation of public spaces that were essentially demolished due to the former conflict and the tsunami is now being rebuilt to revive the social bases that had been lost. The discourse of local wisdom has been implemented through the Qonun to maintain and implement Aceh’s intellectual heritage. This communal consciousness has been actively built by many actors through various forms of dialogue and negotiation. It is thus not surprising to see an upsurge in meunasahs, gampong activities, the revival of the mosque as the center of Islamic studies, and even the centering of coffee shops in Acehnese identity. These activities are all part of the idea of Aceh revival.

Abstract

This study wants to keep track of public participation in responds to development of uncertaintly local democratic. This idea is based on an assumption of declining public participation in the previous elections of 2004. This study tries to observe how the development of democracy at the grassroots level can be influenced by extends political effect for imaging virtually designed and shaped by political pragmatism practices as conducted by the politicians in general. The fndings of this study explained that the democratization at the level of village/local is not understood as an urgent need, therefore the political participation of society is still in the category of “anut grubyuk” participation profess that is not based on the ideals and demands the real political rights of citizenship. The forms of participation are thus precisely met the drying times of democracy itself. It means that the future death of village democratization not only addressed because of the laziness of residents to political participation, but the attitude of the political elite is also partly responsible, especially in negotiating the political choices to rural communities in general.

Abstract

Abstract

The intolerance that has threatened Indonesia in the last ten years is an important trail to show that the management of diversity in Indonesia is currently having a complex problem. Many parties are starting to question the wisdom of schools as a participatory diversity laboratory. This research emphasizes best practice tolerance education that is integrated into the realm of the learning curriculum in schools, this study more focused on three high school level schools in Malang city based on religion using a comparative descriptive method described by a qualitative critical approach. There is a perspective that is the finding of this research, namely the vision of tolerance and the definition of diversity built-in schools to give birth to patterns of student interaction in daily synergy with other different students. This perspective theoretically can produce five patterns of diversity interaction, namely: first: collegial interaction, second; dialogical experiment, third; intergroup community formation, fourth; participatory ethics, and fifth; transformative action. These five patterns were naturally formed by the vision of tolerance created by the three schools through various activities, both intra and extracurricular, and became patterns of intense participatory interaction in daily activities at school.

Abstract

This assessment is carried out to evaluate the learning process by emphasizing aspects of the integrated curriculum developed at the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School. This process, which at every stage of its history has always undergone changes and dynamic cycles, must receive serious attention. The issue of curriculum since the implementation of the merger between the boarding school curriculum and the general school curriculum to this day is still a long debate, especially how the pesantren curriculum, which was originally oriented to ansih Islamic boarding school, must accommodate the general curriculum which is actually far from the experience expected by previous pesantren. This assessment is carried out with a grounded approach by conducting sufficient interviews, distributing questionnaires, and tracking school or boarding documents and followed by focus group discussions (FGD). At the implementation level, the curriculum merger effort at the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School in Malang City is still limited to improving the school or class schedule, which means that on the improvement side at the level of material or certain fields of study, it is still in the process of improving and discussing discussions by coordinating continuously and thoroughly. In addition, at this stage the supporting laboratories are almost 70 percent completed to adjust to global needs which will be used and utilized by students in the future. The fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, and student entrepreneurship, and small industrial industries, in the future will become laboratories, not only for the sake of an integrated curriculum but also in general the vision of this pesantren, including strengthening the capacity of relevant learning media, but also upgrading Islamic boarding school human resources, so that they are able to synergize with digital speed which is the key in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, currently the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School is preparing
