Abstract

Rice straw is abundant and inexpensive as post-harvest crop residue. Rice straw can be processed into a variety of products for interior space filling through creative efforts. This research seeks to empower farmers by utilizing rice straw as crop residue and to create natural-style products for the interior space-filling of a local culinary business (wedangan), as wedangan is a typical culinary business that is traditional, fast-growing, and trendy in Surakarta City and its surroundings. The design method is based on design thinking procedures, which include empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. Empathy for low-income farmers is expected to add value and profit through rice straw processing. Wedangan's interior space-filling products are designed around the kantong semar flower (Nepenthes sp.). The prototype (as a design embodiment) is developed in collaboration with the farmers. This type of experience is intended to serve as training and assistance. Product testing is conducted through market research and product application in  wedangan interiors in this city. As a result, business managers and visitors alike appreciate interior space-filling products. Economically, this product development for interior space filling represents a viable business opportunity for farmers to pursue as a secondary occupation.

Abstract

Semarang, as the capital of Central Java Province, with its high economic and tourism growth, needs to be supported with adequate facilities and infrastructure. The purpose of designing is to fulfill exhibition and meeting facilities in the city of Semarang, Indonesia. The design method adopts the stages of the Kurtz programming design process. The theme of asem arang-arang is a local character in Semarang, Indonesia, with a post-modern style. The interior design drawings of Semarang Convention Center include the main lobby (exhibition hall area), side lobby (convention hall area), convention hall, exhibition hall, meeting/conferences room, and cafeteria. The benefit of the design is as a reference for the Semarang city government and the parties involved in developing infrastructure and facilities in Semarang.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to realize the building of a product show room in the center of the Trangsan rattan handicraft industry, Gatak, Sukoharjo through cooperation between various elements. The existence of a show room is to facilitate prospective tourists in looking for rattan handicraft products and increasing the sales of rattan crafters is the purpose of this study. The method used to achieve these results is by planning, designing, building and displaying products in the show room. The collaboration between various parties involved, therefore researchers are more focused on the activities of planning, designing, and monitoring development. The planned location of the construction of the show room is in the Trangsan Village Hall complex. The process of designing data sources is obtained through existing conditions, literature, and informants. Data collection techniques are through interviews, literature review, documentation and Forum Group Discution (FGD). Data analysis is through interactive analysis which includes three components which include data reduction, data presentation (data display) and data validation (verification). Abstract

The Interior Revitalization Planning at the Indonesia  National Building in Gresik by adapting Art Deco Style with the theme " Damar Kurung" is en effort to conserve a public space which is a performance building. The building so far tends to be underutilized due to various things, one of which is the condition of the building and its interior which is no longer feasible. Revitalization of important buildings is carried out as an effort to maintain the sustainability of architectural buildings as part of the culture of the people. The activities that are accommodated mainly are traditional arts. Revitalization by utilizing the building as a center for cultural activities for the people of Gresik and its surroundings. This design adopts an art deco style with damar kurung as the theme applied in the interior. Research using the Kurtz programming method. The design includes lobby, canteen, office, control room, auditorium, stage, dressing room, and backstage.

Abstract

Furniture is inseparable from almost all human activities. It is used by individuals of all ages, both adults and children. However, the childhood period is a vulnerable period and hence requires protection. This study mainly aims to design safe, comfortable, fun, and aesthetic furniture for preschool children. This applied research aims to deliver a design through design concept, idea, and drawing stages. The concept was developed based on textual and visual data sources. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and data verification. The design process was carried out through the idea stage, alternative sketching stage, sketch selection stage, work drawing, and 3D drawings. The designed furnikids products include soft-furnished racks, tables, and chairs specifically designed for children. A Soft-finishing technique was applied to coat the product using foam and cloth to deliver a soft surface. The product was designed using various animal motifs, aiming to serve as media for introducing colors and animal shapes to children, in addition to serving as play equipment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia’s natural and cultural wealth represents an extraordinary gift that is not compared to others in the world, for example rattan and batik. Batik and rattan as Indonesia’s natural and cultural wealth become the base to increase the competitiveness and productivity of the rattan furniture industry in Sukoharjo Regency. The efforts of the improvement are in case of export-oriented industries, especially Surya Rotan and Agung Rejeki Furniture. Product creation and various things related to the market and production are also become a concern in this applied research. This research uses TDA (Total Design Activity) approach. Six aspects in TDA approach include market, specification, concept design, detailed design, manufacture and sales. The activities undertaken include product design, design of appropriate technology, product protection through industrial design rights, exhibitions, and training and production assistance. Rattan as a superior raw material, the ability to process Indonesian rattan, and finishing rattan products with batik is then used as the base of furniture product design. The furniture product design of rattan and rattan finishing become the base for creating furniture products of chairs, tables, and even handicraft products.

Abstract

Illegal logging merupakan tindakan kriminal yang bisa membahayakan lingkungan, utamanya terkait dengan kelestarian hutan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjaga kelestarian hutan dengan mengurangi illegal logging melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat sekitar hutanmelalui pemanfaatan ranting kayu menjadi produk kerajinan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian terapan. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di wilayah Jawa Tengah meliputi Surakarta dan sekitarnya. Penggalian data berupa artefak, literatur, dan informan dilakukan melalui observasi, studi literatur, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data akan diuji melalui triangulasi dan analisis data menggunakan metode interaktif. Pendekatan desain dilakukan melalui perencanaan dan perancangan serta eksperimen. Analisis tingkat lanjut dilakukan menggunakan analisis SWOT untuk pengembangan desain selanjutnya. Implementasi desain guna mendapatkan manfaat ekonomi yang lebih adalah melalui metoda produksi dan pemasaran produksi. Penelitian ini menekankan proses produksi pada masyarakat sekitar hutan melalui pelatihan produksi. Upaya-upaya tersebut tentu tidak akan dapat berjalan tanpa adanya sinergitas di antara berbagai pihak atau instansi terkait. Sinergitas antar instansi atau lembaga ini adalah berkaitan dengan wewenang dan kompetensi dari masing-masing lembaga.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah demi terwujudnya bangunan show roomproduk dilingkungan sentra industri kerajinan rotan Trangsan, Gatak, Sukoharjo melalui kerja sama antar berbagai elemen. Keberadaan show room adalah untuk memudahkan calon wisatawan dalam mencari produk kerajinan rotan dan meningkatkan penjualan para perajin rotan adalah tujuan dari penelitian ini. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai hasil tersebut yakni dengan merencana, merancang, membangunan dan mendisplay produk di dalam show room. Adanya kolaborasi antar berbagai pihak terkait, oleh karena itu peneliti lebih menfokuskan pada kegiatan perencanaan, perancangan, dan pengawasan pembangunan. Rencana lokasi pembangunan show room yakni di komplek Balai Desa Trangsan. Proses perancangan sumber data diperoleh melalui kondisi eksisting, literatur, dan informan. Teknik pengumpulan data yakni melalui wawancara, kajian literatur, dokumentasi dan Forum Group Discution (FGD). Analisis data yakni melalui analisis interaktif yangmeliputi tiga komponen yang meliputi reduksi data, sajian data (data display) dan pensahihan data (verifikasi). Hasil penelitian adalah berupa gambar desain yang meliputi gambar kerja, perspektif dan gambar detail.

Abstract

Design plays an important role for product creation to have high aesthetic and economic value as an effort toempower the community. Important to be considered in the design is the ability of human resources andnatural resources related to straw. Therefore identifying the use of straw for various products and productiontechniques becomes important for planning in the development of industrial design. The research method is touse descriptive analytical research with data sources in the form of written, oral, related images. Data collectiontechniques with observation and data validity with data triangulation. Data analysis uses interactive analysis.The result of the discussion is that straw has been utilized as a variety of creative products, however theproduction is not yet industrial and there is no design development. Production capabilities and productiontechniques that develop in the community are important as a basis for the development of handicraft productsand industrial furniture.
