Abstract

The negative impact of the outbreak of bird flu on economic sectors in the sectoral and macro aspect is analized using Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models. Base on SNSE 2008 dataand some disagregation data sectors, two simulations are conducted. The result of the simulation studies indicate that there is the decrease in the production of poultry meat sector (traditional and medium-large) and egg sectors impact on the micro and macro aspects of the economy. This research is the second step of my research deal with Avian flu and the economy. The first step was the negative impact of avian flu on economy which was already published on Asian Social Economic Journal by last year. The result of this research are : On the micro level in domestic market there are decresed production and increased prices in the poultry sector, eggs, other farms, restaurants and services. While in the foreign market there are decresed exports as well as imports. Similarly, there is a decline in consumption by the entire group of household due to a decline in the acceptance by all groups of households and firms. Government revenue also declined due to a decrease in taxes from households and firms. At the macro level there are a decline in GDP and a decline in the investment. The last  simulation illustrate  the increase of production and the impact of government policy on the micro aspects and the overall economy.  On the micro level in domestic market there are increased production and falling prices in the sector of poultry, eggs, other farms, restaurants and services. While in foreign market there are  increased exports and  decreased imports in almost all sectors. Similarly, there are an increase in consumption by the entire group of households due to an increse in the acceptance by all groups of households and firms. Government revenue also increased due to an increse in taxes from household and firms.

Abstract

Rice price disparity at the farmer and consumer level is large. This study analyzes the movement and transmission of rice pricer at the producer and consumer level between regions in Indonesia. The data used in this study is data on rice and beef prices at the producer and consumer level from 2010 to 2017. The method used in the analysis is the Error Correction Model (ECM). The movement of rice between regions in Indonesia fluctuated throughout the period 2010- 2017. The price of rice at the producer level is more volatile than the price of rice at the consumer level. Transmission of rice prices at the consumer level to prices at the producer level occurs asymmetrically, both in the short term and in the long run. In producer- consumer relations, the transmission of rice prices at the producer level to prices at the consumer level occurs asymmetrically in the short term, but symmetrically in the long run.

Abstract

This study Aimed to analyze the transport linkages and multiplier effects of each subsector of transport when there is a change in the budget of the transport sector in the Indonesian economy. This study uses an analytical tool input - output models of Indonesia in 2010, with 185 sectors. Input - output models is used to analyze the relationship backwards and forwards in the transport sector of the Indonesian economy and the multiplier effect on the Indonesian economy as a whole. Results of the analysis Showed that the transport has a total backward linkage high while total forward linkage of transport is relatively low. This is an indication that transportation plays in attracting and developing the upstream sector, but less instrumental in developing the downstream sector. The results Obtained from the analysis of the output multiplier effect when a decline in the transport sector budget has a high value, while the income multiplier and labor multiplier when a decline in the transport sector budget has a low value. This shows a Decrease in the budget in the transport sector can reduce the production output of the Indonesian economy but less budget reduction effect on income and employment. Abstract

This study is an application of cultural heritage valuation using non-market methods. Contingent Valuation Method used to measure the amount of economic value by estimating willingness to pay from Surabaya residents. The economic value of the Old Town Area of Surabaya if there were improvementanddevelopment of heritage tourism is Rp. 1.471.764 billion. This value is greater than before improvement and development that is only Rp. 3.914.892.240. Multinomial logit regression was used to identify factors that affect the interest to visit and willingness to pay for the respondent. Results indicates that age, education, income, and knowledge significantly influence the interest to visit and willingness to pay. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage the development of heritage tourism, having regard to the determination of stakeholder and policy priorities. The method used in the determination of stakeholder and policy priorities is the Analytic Hierarchy Process.Overall, the use of three methods provide complete results so it can be a reference in the field of cultural heritage research and advice in the development of heritage tourism, especially in the old city area of Surabaya. Abstract

The North Sulawesi Tourism Sector is a tourism rising star in Indonesia with a 600% growth of foreign tourists visiting North Sulawesi. The growth of tourists will encourage the growth of tourist expenditure which will have an impact on the economy. Research on the impact of tourism on the economy has been carried out. In general, research on the economic impact of tourism activities uses a sector approach related to tourism economic activities such as hotels, restaurants, transportations, and recreational activities sectors. This study uses an approach by forming the tourism sector independently to obtain the results of a more accurate calculation and analysis of the economic impact of the tourism sector.  Input-Output Analysis is used as an instrument of linking and multiplier analysis of outputs and incomes of the people of North Sulawesi in 2018.  Linkage analysis (forward and backward linkage) shows that the tourism sector in the economy of North Sulawesi is a key sector.  The output multiplier and income multiplier are created by tourist expenditure in 2018 are 1.83 for the multiplier output and 1.88 for the multiplier income. With a tourist expenditure of 4.56 trillion rupiahs in 2018, it will create an economic output of 8.38 trillion rupiahs and create an income of 1.28 trillion rupiah. Abstract

The large expansion of trade in the form of Intra-Industry Trade (IIT) in ASEAN is driving large volumes and variety of traded goods and is changing patterns of trade across members. This paper examines the factors affecting the level of IIT for ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) in the period of 2004-2014. IIT is measured with Grubel-Lloyd index covering ten different one-digit SITC categories. The result indicates a large Intra-Industry Trade among ASEAN countries and across most manufacturing sectors. IIT Index is employed as a dependent variable, and four variables are used as independent variables: 1) different GDP per capita, 2) foreign direct investment (FDI), 3) trade openness, and 4) distance. Different GDP per capita and trade openness have a positive effect on IIT. FDI does not affect IIT, and distance has a negative effect on IIT across intra-ASEAN trade.  Keywords: International Trade, Intra-Industry Trade, Grubel-Lloyd, Panel Data Analysis

Abstract

There is a serious problem in term of health over the past 70 years in developing countries, one of them is the quality of life expectancy. Even it has continued to increase but still there is a gap between developed and developing countries. The gap in life expectancy is assumed to be rooted in the differences in socio-economic conditions of different social groups. Health matter, especially in the ASEAN region, is an important issue that must be addressed. Therefore, this research has an objective to explore the influence of social, economic and environmental factors on health quality in ASEAN. The variables in this research are the impacts of population, urbanization, food production, GDP, health spending, and CO2 emissions on health in 9 ASEAN countries in the period from 2001-2015. The analysis method is a panel of regression data. The findings of the research are that all the independent variables have a significant effect on Health quality in ASEAN.
