Abstract

The purposes of this study are: (a) determine the level of customer satisfaction in library and ISSN services; (b) determine customers feedback in improving the quality of library and ISSN services. Type of data this study is quantitative. Data were collected by distributing Survei Kepuasan Masyarakat (SKM) questionnaires. There are nine indicators in SKM: (1) compliance with the service requirements; (2) easy of servicing procedures; (3) the timeliness of service; (4) the suitability of the service charge; (5) product assurance services; (6) the competence of service personnel; (7) the behavior of the service personnel; (8) clear intimation of service; and (9) the handling of complaints, suggestions, and feedback of services. SKM questionnaire distributed to 60 respondents who have received services from the concierge of library and ISSN service. The data are interpreted with a frequency distribution table. Each indicator item in SKM has processed by the value/score of the class interval system. Results of this study indicated that the information service on library and ISSN are satisfactory of customer. The results based on customer survey uses nine indicators of SKM. Most respondents who become customers of the library and ISSN feel satisfied, the number of 43 respondents (71,7%) said they were satisfied and 11 respondents (18,3%) expressed great satisfaction with the services. If viewed from the service unit, there are 25 respondents (83,33%) as a subscribers of library services and 18 respondents (60%) as a ISSN customers whose are satisfied with the those services. However, despite on the results of SKM had been satisfaction, the institution must be to improve the quality system of services ongoing basis. This is done to reduce or eliminate various forms of complaints from customers.

Abstract

The general objective of this research is to determine the CSDI – IIS (Centre of Scientific Documentation and Information – Indonesian Institutes of Sciences) librarians’ reading interest. While the specific objectives are to determine : 1) the types and subject of reading materials which are interesting for librarians, 2) the reading time of librarians, 3) the amount of literature read by librarians every day; 4) the preferred reading materials by librarians; 5) the factors and purposes of reading activity, and 6) the place of librarians frequently used for reading. The research question is: How is the condition of reading interest of CSDI-IIS librarians regarding with the types and subject of reading materials, the reading time, the reading amount, the reading language, the reading preferences, the factors and purposes of reading motivation, and the places to read used by librarians. This type of research is descriptive, by using observation method and questionnaires distributed to librarians of the CSDI-IIS. Number of questionnaires distributed are 60 questionnaires, but only 41 librarians (68.33%) who filled out the questionairres. The data obtained are processed and analyzed using descriptive method for analyzing and explaining the actual condition of the object. The expected result is the increasing of reading interest of CSDI-IIS librarian.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan makalah ini untuk: (1) memberikan informasi hasil preview kebijakan OAJ, khususnya jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang terbit secara online; dan (2) mengetahui berbagai upaya yang dapat dilakukan pustakawan dalam peningkatan kualitas jurnal dan mendukung gerakan OAJ di Indonesia. Metode kajian menggunakan studi literatur dan penelusuran jurnal di Portal Garuda – IPI. Data kajian dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang terbit secara online di Indonesia sebagian besar belum menginformasikan pernyataan kebijakan OAJ secara jelas dan lengkap di situs jurnal; dan (2) diperlukan peran aktif pustakawan dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas jurnal dan mendukung gerakan OAJ di Indonesia, khususnya jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this paper is: (1) to provide information about OAJ policy preview results, especially the journal of library and information science in Indonesia which is published online and (2) to know the various ways from librarians in improving journal quality and support OAJ movement in Indonesia. The study methods use literature study and journal tracking at Portal Garuda - IPI. The data assessment were reported descriptively. The results of the study show that (1) the journal of library and information science published online in Indonesia has not informed the OAJ policy statement on the journal website; and (2) need the active role of librarians in efforts to improve the quality of journals and support OAJ in Indonesia, especially in the field of library and information science.

Abstract

Kajian ini sangat penting untuk peningkatan pengelolaan produk pengetahuan digital local content melalui repositori lembaga Kemendikbud. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan mengetahui: (a) pengelolaan repositori lembaga; (b) upaya pengembangan konten dan sistem repositori lembaga; (c) produk pengetahuan local content lembaga; dan (d) strategi pengelolaan produk pengetahuan local content melalui repositori lembaga Kemendikbud. Jenis data kajian adalah kualitatif, dengan sumber data studi dokumen dan observasi. Data kajian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pengelolaan repositori lembaga Kemendikbud mengacu pada tugas dan fungsi Perpustakaan Khusus Instansi Pemerintah yang bertujuan untuk mengintegrasikan layanan dan koleksi perpustakaan digital local content; (2) koleksi digital local content repositori lembaga jumlahnya relatif banyak dan sudah dapat dimanfaatkan secara optimal meskipun sistem repositori masih terus dikembangkan; (3) produk pengetahuan local content repositori lembaga Kemendikbud berupa dokumen kebijakan Kemendikbud (pedoman, panduan, juklak, juknis), hasil kajian, materi diklat, hasil belajar peserta diklat, hasil penelitian, dan jurnal; (4) Perpustakaan Kemendikbud perlu menetapkan strategi dalam pengembangan sistem dan konten repositori, mulai dari strategi kebijakan pengembangan sistem hingga ke pengembangan produk pengetahuan digital local content repositori lembaga.  Abstract. This study is very important for management improving of digital knowledge product of local content in Ministry of Education and Culture's repository. This study aims to describe and to know: (a) the management of institution repository; (b) the development efforts of the institutional repository contents and systems; (c) the knowledge product of institution local content; and (d) the management strategies of the knowledge product of local content through institution repository. The type of study data is qualitative, with the data sources are document studies and observations. The data were analyzed descriptively. The study results indicated that: (1) the management of the Ministry of Education and Culture's repository refered to the duties and functions of the Special Library of Government Agency that aims to integrate of the services and collections digital local content of library; (2) the digital collection of local content repository institutions is relatively large and can be utilized optimally even though the repository system is still being developed; (3) the knowledge products of local content of in Ministry of Education and Culture's repository such as of policy documents (guidelines, manuals, operational guidelines, technical guidelines), study results, training materials, training participants' learning outcomes, research results, and journals; (4) the library of Ministry of Education and Culture needs to establish the repository system and content development strategies, start from the policy strategies of system development to the knowledge products of digital local content in instituion repository.

Abstract

This purposed of study to determine: 1) the types of information packaging products; 2) the process of information repackaging; and 3) the complied effort to the user information needs of smart scale enterprises (UKM) through PDII-LIPI information packs. Data of this study is a descriptive. Data collected by a discussion with the users or subscribers of information repackaging products of PDII-LIPI. The collected data are then be identified, analyzed, and interpreted the results and discussion chapter. The results of this study are known: 1) the types of information repackaging products of PDII-LIPI, namely: paket informasi teknologi, informasi kilat, pohon industri, panduan usaha, tinjauan literatur, fokus informasi indonesia, dan film animasi; 2) the process of making the package of information repackaging PDII-LIPI, namely the determination of topics, literature searching, analysis of the literature, making the design/template, duplication of information packing, and report generation; and 3) the efforts of institutions to complied the information needs of UKM through the product of information repackaging, namely: promotion, identification of needs, choosing the sources of information, product offerings, product evaluation utilization, and create innovative policies. In principle that the packaging of the information provided and created by PDII-LIPI had oriented by information needs of users, in particular to meet the UKM information needs.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know: (1) the urgencies of librarian?s scholarly communication; (2) competence of librarian's scholarly communication; and (3) library?s scholarly communication programs. The data type of this study is descriptive - qualitative. The data source for this study is a literature review. The study results showed that scholarly communication is a core competency of librarians who could help library service development programs. These core competencies include the ability of librarians to implement the digital literacy and scientific literacy programs in the library, such as user education, publications or research, education or training, focus group discussions, scientific meetings, and research corner services. As a recommendation, the librarian's institutions (especially academic libraries and research institutions) should arrange the librarian's scientific competency development programs

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) platform Dataverse dan RIN; (2) pengelolaan data penelitian dengan Dataverse RIN; (3) pemanfaatan data penelitian dengan Dataverse RIN; dan (4) tantangan pustakawan dalam manajemen data penelitian. Jenis data kajian ini bersifat deskriptif – kualitatif dengan sumber data studi dokumen/literatur dan simulasi melalui Dataverse  RIN. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Dataverse merupakan platform database RIN yang bersifat open source dan dapat digunakan untuk efektivitas pengelolaan, penyimpanan, dan berbagi data penelitian; (2) pengelolaan data penelitian dengan Dataverse RIN dapat mengadopsi konsep RDM UK Data Service; (3) Data penelitian di Dataverse RIN dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan iptek dan peningkatan kualitas data penelitian berikutnya; dan (4) Pustakawan sebagai pengelola data dan depositor di Dataverse RIN perlu belajar lebih banyak tentang konsep penerapan pengelolaan data penelitian berdasarkan karakteristik lembaga dan harus siap menghadapi tantangan sebagai ‘pustakawan data’. Rekomendasi kajian ini yaitu: (1) perlunya peningkatan kompetensi pustakawan sebagai pengelolaan data penelitian; dan (2) keaktifan pustakawan dalam penyusunan kebijakan pengelolaan data penelitian dan berkolaborasi dalam kegiatan penelitian lembaga.

Abstract

Candi  Kimpulan merupakan candi peninggalan kerajaan hindu yang berlokasi di area Perpustakaan UII. Keberadaan Candi Kimpulan sampai saat ini dalam kondisi baik dan semakin dikenal oleh masyarakat luas. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keg iatan pelestarian dan promosi Candi Kimpulan yang berada di area Perpustakaan UII. Data kajian ini menggunakan data kualitatif – deskriptif, yang bersumber dari kegiatan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelestarian Candi Kimpulan dilakukan oleh BPCB DIY dengan cara evakuasi, restorasi, dan konservasi. Sedangkan Perpustakaan UII (pustakawan) membantu tugas edukator museum dalam mempromosikan wisata budaya Candi Kimpulan ke masyarakat. Kegiatan promosi dilakukan dengan tatap muka, penyebaran brosur, dan website Perpustakaan UII.

Abstract

Innovation is becoming a warming issue to be often discussed by many actors like academician, politician, and business sectors at global world recently. Innovation is basically a better change of an organization, it is firstly applied in private sector. Development of current literature in public administration science, innovation emerges as a conceptual discourse stuff that is then sounded into public sector. Innovation practice in private sector is different to public sector. Innovation practice in public sector, particularly in public services is one of interesting things to be discussed in this study because China is one of economics superpower in the world that is able to innovate at midst totally strong political control from central government. Issue of public service innovation is critical issue which is linear with economic growth in China. This study is a research using qualitative-descriptive method with the source derived from secondary data, and this study is called as a desk research. This research finding is that innovation practices at public service which is successfully conducted by Government of China can be adopted by Government of Indonesia by adjusting key points for implementing innovation of public services in Indonesia. It is important that Government of Indonesia must seek an alternative way to find an appropriate model to implement best practices of public service innovation adopted from China.

Abstract

Research data management will become a new service trend for libraries and new jobs for librarians. Libraries and librarians need to prepare their organizational resources to support the library-data services. Various challenges and efforts need to be prepared from an early age so that research data management in the library can be carried out properly. This study discusses the management of research data in libraries, the challenges and efforts of librarians in managing institutional research data. The research objectives are to determine: (1) library institutions that have carried out research data management and services; (2) challenges and efforts of librarians in managing institutional research data. This research uses a qualitative approach. The research data comes from literature studies, especially scientific journal articles (national and international). Data analysis was carried out descriptively with the stages, are planning, conducting, and reporting. Based on this method, the results of the study indicate that: (1) research data management has been carried out in various libraries in Indonesia, and in its application it can adopt the concept of data libraries at the University of Toronto Map and Digital Library (UTMDL) Canada; (2) In managing institutional research data, librarians will face various problems and challenges, both in terms of policy implementation and increasing competence in research data management.
