Abstract

ABSTRACTCharacterisation of Organic Carbon of Up Stream Citarum River Water from Domestic andIndustrial Waste Effluent. The local government of Citarum upstream area has conducted theriver cleaning program to increase Disolved Oxygen since 1991 until now. The program hasimpacted to installments of to wastewater treatment for 80% industrials in the Upper Citarumdrainage area declining the load of BOD5 wastewater. However most of waste water comingfrom Banung population have been treated in the collective wastewater treatment (IPAL) ofBojongsoang. Nevertheless, the low concentration of Dissolved oxygen which is under theminimum stream standard concentration, 3mg/l still becomes a problem until now. Anineffectiveness of improvement of the DO is caused by the treatment effluent BOD5 load fromdomestic and industrial wastewater and low awareness industrial wastewater aboutcharacteristics of river water quality . This research aimed to characterize the BOD oxidationrate and BOD5 regime of each river reach base on wastewater domestic or industrial characteristic.The result of this research can then be applied to build the priority of the load reduction ofBOD5 wastewater domestic or industrial in each reach of that river. The characteristic ofoxidation rate have investigated at influent point and water body of Upper Citarum River bymultivariate cluster observation. The oxidation rate was calculated by least-square methodfrom BOD data. The BOD observation was measured by BOD meter everyday for 5 days. Theresult shows that Curugjompong at 0 to 21st km and 36th km to Majalaya bridge ischaracterizedby an industrial sewage, while the upper Citarum at 21 to 36 Km is characterizedby an domesticsewage.Key words: Characteristic, oxydation rate, Citarum river, organic carbon.

Abstract

Konsentrasi nutrien dalam proses eutrofikasi memiliki peran penting dalam produktivitas perairan tawar. Danau Tempe merupakan kawasan konservasi sumber daya air yang telah mengalami degradasi, diindikasikan dari pendangkalan dan gulma air yang berlimpah. Hal ini mengakibatkan daya dukung danau tersebut menjadi menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi dan sebaran spasiotemporal nutrien di Danau Tempe sebagai dasar pengelolaan perairan danau. Sampel air diambil menggunakan Kemmerer water sampler pada bulan April, Juli, dan Oktober 2013 di tujuh stasiun. Oksigen terlarut, pH, suhu, dan transparansi diukur secara in situ, sedangkan N-Nitrit, N-Nitrat, N-Amonium, TN, ortofosfat, dan TP beserta parameter pendukung seperti COD, TOM, dan klorofil-a dianalisis di laboratorium menggunakan metode menurut Standard Method. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan nilai konsentrasi N dan P bervariasi di semua lokasi pengamatan. Nilai konsentrasi N-Nitrat, TN, dan TP cenderung tinggi pada bulan Oktober, sedangkan konsentrasi N-Nitrit, N-Amonium, dan ortofosfat cenderung tinggi pada bulan April. Analisis PCA menunjukkan kondisi kualitas air di Danau Tempe dicirikan oleh senyawa N dan P. Konsentrasi rata-rata TN dan TP di Danau Tempe yang tinggi dengan nilai masing-masing sebesar 1,386 mg/L dan 0,198 mg/L menunjukkan bahwa Danau Tempe termasuk danau produktif dengan kategori perairan eutrofik dan Nitrogen sebagai faktor pembatas kesuburan danau. Pengayaan nutrien yang terus berlanjut akan berdampak buruk terhadap kualitas perairan Danau Tempe

Abstract

Ternate merupakan sebuah pulau vulkanik di Maluku Utara, didalamnya terdapat gunung api aktif (G. Gamalama) berketinggian 1.715 m dpl. Di pulau ini terdapat tiga danau (Tolire Besar, Ngade dan Tolire Kecil) yang berdasarkan proses terbentuknya digolongkan sebagai danau vulkanik dengan type Maar. Pengukuran yang dilakukan di Danau Tolire Besar pada tahun 2011 menghasilkan informasi kondisi fisik danau dan daerah tangkapannya. Danau Tolire dikelilingi oleh tebing curam setinggi 60-80 m, tidak mempunyai outlet dan inlet hanya berupa alur air dari puncak Gunung. Luas DTA danau adalah 244,2 Ha dengan tanah ber-ordo Inceptisols dan Ultisols, dengan Iklim termasuk tipe iklim B (Basah). Kedalaman maksimum danau 43,1 m, diameter 600 m, luas badan air 26,5 Ha, kecerahan danau hanya 4 m, salinitas, DO serta profil pH dan ORP mempunyai pola yang hampir sama, yang mengindikasikan bahwa pada kedalaman antara 8 dan 9 m adalah lapisan chemocline atau oxycline. Lapisan permukaan cenderung bersifat oksidatif dan lapisan dasar reduktif. Tidak dijumpai adanya stratifikasi lapisan danau oleh perbedaan suhu, dengan suhu permukaan 30°C. Daya dukung danau terhadap biota ikan sangat rendah, karena faktor tingginya kandungan sulfida dan lingkungan yang terisolir.
