Abstract

An author creative process  includes the issue of why and how the author wrote the novel. Among the chicklit and Teenlit novelists there are similar supporting factors, namely talent, hobby, intelligence, and daily life experience around them. The Supporting factors are then combined with skills, methods and storytelling which spontaneous and honest.They never thought about storytelling techniques when writing a novel. They do not think about the structure of fiction such as the grooves, figure-characterizations, backgrounds, storytelling, and so on.The creative process of the authors can not be separated from the influence of life in their surrounding environment that provides reality as a source of inspiration to write the story. The reality is in the form of social problems, personal problems, society, humanity, divinity, and so on. All sorts of information and experience are gained through association and access to information technology. All are quickly and simultaneously enrich the treasury of their knowledge so that they can talk anywhere, anytime, and about anything. Thus, the young chicklit and Teenlit novelists become successful and famous is not in a sudden and without a process. Nor because special facilities given by publisher or certain parties, but through hard work. Lot of terms and conditions that they can meet through their struggle.Thus, it can be concluded that the creative process of chicklit and Teenlit novelist is a blend of natural talent, hobby, intelligence, and life experience, supporting by intelligence, hard work, a wealth of experience, breadth of relationships, social sensitivity, the ability of storytelling and writing skills.

Abstract

Literary works are cultural objects of industrial products. Speaking about the production of literary works meant dealing with laws (systems, mechanisms, and strategies) imposed by the institution concerned-producing, ie the publisher. Therefore, publisher institution (chicklit novel and Teenlit) will create a typical industrial laws, which differ from the laws of other publisher institutions. Systems and mechanisms production of chicklit and Teenlit novel consist of the publisher profile, script acquisition (recruitment), script editing (editing), and script distribution (distribution). Publisher profile includes the publisher history, the publisher specifications and product diversification, as well as the publisher contact. In the modern business communication, publisher identity is as important as product identity. Consumer’s trust is built through the image depiction of products and publisher, thus publisher profile becomes the main reference for consumers. Therefore, in the publisher profile description, it always emphasized its excellence experience (history) in publishing the kind of novel as mentioned before, the specifications and features of products they produce, as well as the tools and the modern systems- mechanisms production (worker qualification, printing machines, management). In relation to the publisher profile, some publishers, Elex Media Komputindo, GagasMedia, and Gramedia Pustaka Utama, have been uniquely designing and presenting (honest, intelligent, and "hanging") and convince the society of readers, especially the readers of Teenlit and chicklit novel.

Abstract

Industrialization of Indonesian popular novel 1980-1990 period marked by the increasing of writing productivity. That increased caused by the increasing number of readers. The increasing number of readers caused by the growing tradition of reading due to the publication of magazines and newspapers containing fictional stories (short stories, serialized stories, novella). To meet the needs of the novel in large numbers, the novel is produced in mass. The massalization of popular novel production involves four supporting elements, namely authors, publishers, distributors, and consumers. The involvement of the four supporting elements suggests that popular novel has become a useful commodity which make it to produce with industrial systems and strategies. The popular novel industry is a leisure-class product which has a very strong business spirit. Popular novels are at the center of sophisticated and modern communication solutions. Business communication is related to a variety of professions that work synergistically. Every popular novel published is the collective work of editors, illustrators, graphic design, lay-outer, offset-operation, marketing, sales-promotion, and so on. Thus, popular novels can no longer be referred as the work of individuals but it can be referred as collective work that build upon industrial law.

Abstract

Popular literature is not bad literature, its standard does not lie in its inability to meet the demands of criticism, but on what benefits it gives to the reader. The study of popular literary structures is not important and interesting because the formulas of popular literary structures have definite and consistent criteria. However, popular sociological literary research provides another important and interesting possibility. The sociological facets of popular literature both inside and outside of the text are vast areas of literary research and have a wide range of issues. The production, distribution, and reception aspects are the areas of popular literary research outside the text whose phenomenon is constantly evolving. The social aspect in the text is the area of literary research that has unlimited problems as the object of research material, in line with the productivity of popular literature writing which is very high and fast. Popular literature as an object of research is very rich in materials and data, especially sociological materials and data that are closely related to social issues, both in the text and outside the text. The quality of literary research is actually not determined by the object of research material, but is determined by the formal object and the proper cultivation of its research and the use of appropriate theories and methods so as to produce original, important, and useful findings for the sciences and society.

Abstract

This thesis is research on any process in which students in seeking employment inJapan. The aim of this research is to understand students preparation in seeking theirfirst job.The methods used in this research are library research and descriptivemethod. The theory used in this study is etnosains and ethnometodology.The results showed that, the preparation of students in Japan with job huntinghas been started from two years before they graduated. Many preparation to be doneby students in order to get their desired job. The result shows that systematicemployee recruitment system in Japan make students more discipline and have betterplan for their future.

Abstract

Novel APDP bercerita keseharian hidup tokoh Medasing yang kejam terungkap dalam novel Anak Perawan Disarang Penyamun karya Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengungkap kaitan antarunsur struktur dan eksistensi manusia. Tahap analisis dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data yang diperoleh, setelah itu dianalisis menggunakan teori struktural dan eksistensialisme Kierkegaard untuk mengetahui aspek-aspek sosial yang ada di dalamnya, yaitu aspek eksistensialisme tokoh Medasing. Penyajian hasil analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Metode ini digunakan untuk memaparkan hasil dari penelitian, struktur novel mulai dari alur pengaluran, tokoh penokohan, latar, tema dan amanat. Mendeskripsikan masalah eksistensi Kerkegaard yang terdiri dari eksistensi estetis, etis dan religius. Tokoh utama adalah Medasing, Penokohan menggunakan metode dramatik dan analitik. Alur pengaluran menggunakan alur lurus, peristiwa demi peristiwa diceritakan secara kronologis. Adapun latar novel APDP adalah di tengah-tengah hutan rimba, pada zaman dulu. Tema cerita novel APDP menggunakan tema implisit, dengan membaca secara tekun, barulah akan diketahui isi dan maksud dalam cerita novel APDP. Amanat yang terkandung pesan moral, bahwa kejahatan tidak harus dibalas dengan kejahatan. Eksistensi estetis tokoh Medasing berorientasi terbatas masalah materialistis saja, yaitu merampok. Eksistensi etis tokoh Medasing memperhatikan dunia batinnya, yaitu pernikahannya dengan Sayu. Eksistensi religius, tokoh Medasing sudah mulai menjalankan perintah agama, seperti sholat dan naik haji. Hasil penelitian novel Anak Perawan Disarang Penyamun karya Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana, tokoh Medasing memilih eksistensinya dengan menjadi perampok yang kejam hingga akhirnya bertobat dan kembali ke jalan yang benar. Kejahatannya luluh dengan kesabaran dan kasih sayang yang diberikan tokoh Sayu.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan representasi perempuan pada grafiti di bak truk serta mengungkapkan konstruksi perempuan berdasarkan grafiti di bak truk. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan observasi dan bahan visual penelusuran data online. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang material dan datanya diperoleh dari sumber tertulis, terkait dengan objek penelitian yang diambil di lapangan. Studi ini berfokus pada grafiti seperti truk di Pantura, Semarang-Demak-Kudus. Fokus penelitian ini adalah truk mirip grafiti yang terkait dengan perempuan dan elemen perempuan. Grafiti seperti truk bisa dalam bentuk gambar, tulisan, atau gambar dan tulisan dalam bahasa Indonesia atau Jawa. Hasil penelitian ini berupa stereotip wanita. Pertama, representasi perempuan sebagai tujuan cinta atau demi cinta. Kedua, hasilnya adalah sebagai sosok yang terkait dengan maskulinitas. Ketiga, hasilnya adalah wanita ideal dan ideal. Keempat, hasilnya identik dengan menyembunyikan perasaan sehingga diklasifikasikan sebagai karakteristik psikologis. Kelima, hasilnya adalah wanita yang berbahaya. Keenam, hasilnya diilustrasikan di atas jika dibaca terus menerus, maka akan menimbulkan gejala panoptikon, yaitu menjadi pengawas atau kontrol yang membacanya. Manfaat penelitian ini dapat memberikan pemahaman kepada pembaca terhadap representasi perempuan yang ada di bak truk. Selain itu dapat memberikan pemahaman dan penjelasan antara grafiti bak truk yang bertema perempuan dengan kondisi sosial masyarakat tertentu, kehidupan seseorang, dan konflik-konflik social.   The purpose of this study is to describe the women?s representation in the tailgate and reveal the construction of women based on the tailgate. This research method uses observation data and online visual search material. This research is a qualitative research whose material and data are obtained from written sources, related to the object of research taken in the field. This study focused on truck-like graffiti in the Semarang-Demak-Kudus section of Pantura. The focus of this research is graffiti like trucks related to women and women's elements. Truck-like graffiti can be in the form of pictures, writing, or pictures and writing in Indonesian or Javanese. The results of this study are in the form of female stereotyping. First, the representation of women as the goal of love or for the sake of love. Second, the result is as a figure related to masculinity. Third, the result is as ideal and ideal women. Fourth, the results are identical to harboring feelings so that they are classified as psychological characteristics. Fifth, the result is as dangerous women. Sixth, the results are illustrated above if read continuously, it will cause panoptikon symptoms, namely to become supervisors or controls who read it. The benefits of this research can give readers an understanding of the women?s representation in the tailgate. In addition, it can provide understanding and explanation between truck-themed graffiti with women's themes and certain social conditions, people's lives, and social conflicts.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the audience’s reception of Colonia, a 2016 film by Florian Gallenberger. As a popular work, Colonia is a docudrama film that presents historical events happened in Chile during the coup of General Augusto Pinochet in 1973. The problems analyzed in this article are the reception process of respondents and the quality of Colonia as popular films. The film is chosen for the study as it received five nominations from German Film Awards 2016 and won Bavarian Film Awards 2016 for Best Production category, but it only has a rating of 26% from 47 reviews by Rotten Tomatoes. The respondents involved in this study are members of Kronik Filmedia of Diponegoro University. Kronik Filmedia is the university film club that focuses on producing short films and appreciating films by conducting film discussions. The purpose of the study is to describe the reception processes of respondents who are affected by their horizon of expectations and to prove that not all of popular works are low literature. The theory used in this paper is the Aesthetic of Reception theory by Hans Robert Jauss. The main concept of this theory is horizon of expectations. Horizon of expectations is a reader’s preferences from the previous experiences or readings. For the methodology, this paper uses qualitative research and focus group discussion as the data collecting method. Focus group discussion is a gathering data method by means of interviewing respondents in a forum consisted of five to eight people. Focus group discussion is an effective method to observe a social phenomenon or a case study. The data obtained is then analyzed as texts to draw a conclusion. The research involves eight members of Kronik Filmedia as respondents. The results of the research show the reception of Kronik Filmedia as Colonia can satisfy and even surpass seven out of eight respondents’ horizon of expectations as the film goes to be more ‘interesting’ and ‘thrilling’. All respondents also view that Colonia is worth to be studied and discussed as those of high literature.

Abstract

Indonesian are less aware of the function of folklore in the modern era. When examined more deeply, folklore is a manifestation of local cultural values ​​that are not widely known. This is the background for the research of this article which intends to introduce the uniqueness of the Nusantara folklore through an analysis of the eating of cultural symbols. The purpose of this research is to describe and introduce the meaning of cultural symbols in the Nusantara folklore. The method used is literature using semiotic theory. The results obtained in this study are as follows. 1) Folklore is part of a culture, therefore in the structure of folklore found cultural elements represented in the form of symbols. 2) Cultural symbols in folklore cannot be interpreted directly, with a semiotic and cultural approach symbols can be interpreted according to the cultural origin of the folklore. 3) Literature, culture, and art are three things that cannot be separated. Cultural symbols do not only show cultural elements but also provide a moral message and aesthetic side in reading literary works. 4) Folklore can become an identity in culture from that it can be drawn that cultural symbols can show the progress of civilization in a culture. 5) The three folklores of the archipelago that have been studied have their own characteristics. Abstract

Perjuangan adalah satu hal yang harus terus diusahakan untuk memperoleh keberhasilan. Manga Takasugi san chi no Obentou karya Nozomi Yanahara dengan jelas menunjukkan proses perjuangan seorang perjaka bernama Harumi Takasugi untuk menjadi wali seorang anak di bawah umur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana proses perjuangan tokoh Harumi Takasugi untuk menjadi wali yang bertanggung jawab dalam manga Takasugi san Chi No Obentou karya Nozomi Yanahara. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan psikoloi sastra, dengan memanfaatkan teori Striving for Superiority yang dikemukakan oleh Alfred Adler untuk menunjukkan awal kebangkitan seseorang dari rasa inferioritasnya. Data penelitian diambil dari beberapa adegan yang menunjukkan proses perjuangan tokoh Harumi Takasugi dari kondisi inferior sampai mencapai superioritasnya. Hasil penelitian proses striving for superiority menunjukkan dengan jelas bahwa keagresifan, motivasi diri, berpikir positif, rela berkorban, dan bekerja keras menjadikan striving for superiority yang dilakukan tokoh Harumi menjadi motor penggerak untuk mengalahkan perasaan inferiornya dan bahkan kepuasan menjadi kebahagiaan yang dirasakan tokoh Harumi di dalam manga Takasugi san Chi No Obentou karya Nozomi Yanahara.
