Abstract

Emergency conditions most frequently encountered in health care settings such as hospitals, one of which is the incidence of cardiac arrest. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and training with nurses' skills in managing emergency events among cardiac arrest patients in the ICU and the Emergency Room of Pelamonia Hospital. The cross-sectional study design was applied in this study. The population, as well as the sample in this study, was 40 people, this study used a total sampling technique. The value results of the study with statistical tests Fisher's Exact Test, the obtained value of p = 0.000 (? <0.05 for the knowledge variable and p = 0.008 (? <0.05) for the training variable. The conclusion of this study, there is a relationship between knowledge and training with nurses' skills in managing emergency events among cardiac arrest patients in the ICU and the Emergency Room of Pelamonia Hospital. Suggested to the health officers in particular to nurses to always improve the knowledge and always follow the latest training so that the skills on basic life support can be carried out properly

Abstract

One of the efforts made by nurses to identify deterioration or emergency incidents in patients is through the use of Nursing Early Warning Score System (NEWSS). This study therefore aims to determine the effectiveness of this system in reducing the frequency of cardiac arrest in patients. A quasi-experiment with a post-test only control group design was adopted and a sample of 80 respondents was obtained. Furthermore, the research instrument consists of 7 physiological parameters in the NEWSS assessment, under standard operating procedures. The results from the Mann Whitney test with a P value of 0.000, (P <0.05) indicate that the System is effective in reducing the frequency of emergency cardiac arrests. Abstract

In people with diabetes mellitus, changes in the quality of life and risk of death can be experienced due to complications, this is because diabetes mellitus cannot be cured, allowing complications of other diseases that can worsen health conditions, but not all sufferers can experience it if they can maintain or control their condition so that can live healthier. To reduce this, a diabetes mellitus management program is needed where there is a regulation of diet, activity, blood sugar control and exercise through a program called Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME). The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSME) on the quality of life in diabetes mellitus patients. The research method used pre-experiment with one group pre test and post test design. The number of samples is 23 people. DSME intervention was given 3 times in Gentungan District Health Center. Gowa. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with a significant level of 0.05. Wilcoxon results showed a difference in quality of life between the pre test and post test in the treatment group (p = 0.001). Improved quality of life in DM patients after being given DSME intervention. The conclusion is that there is a significant effect of giving DSME on the quality of life of people with DM. DSME can increase the knowledge and self-care abilities of patients in controlling blood sugar and prevent complications that can affect their quality of life.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is classified into a group of metabolic diseases with specific characteristics of increased blood sugar levels or hyperglycemia. Clients with Diabetes Mellitus have the potential for 15-25% to experience diabetic foot ulcers caused by the factors of cholesterol, use of footwear, and self-management of diabetes mellitus. Objectives: This study aims to determine factors associated with the incidence of diabetic ulcers in clients with diabetes mellitus at Labuang Baji Hospital Makassar. Methods: The type of research used was quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples used was 50 respondents by using accidental sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaires and Standard Operating Procedures for cholesterol examination. Result: The study results using the Spearman Correlation Testshowed a relationship between cholesterol and the incidence of diabetic ulcers in clients with Diabetes Mellitus with the p-value = 0.001 (p <0.05). There is a relationship between footwear usage and the incidence of diabetic ulcers in clients with diabetes mellitus with the p-value = 0.001 (p < 0.05) and there is a relationship between Self Management Diabetes Mellitus (SMDM) with the incidence of diabetic ulcers in clients with diabetes mellitus with p-value = 0.001 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Cholesterol, footwear usage, and Diabetes Mellitus Self Management (SMDM) are the factors of Diabetic ulcers in clients with diabetes mellitus. Recommendation: This study could be an adjunct for further systemic review and expected for further study to research about the other factor or the effect of treatment sequacity on diabetic ulcer recovery
