Abstract

Warehouse design has an important role in a supply chain system, so it requires a good planning. This study aims to determine and select the warehouse location with the companys management criteria and optimal design of warehouse layout, followed by designing the layout and the existing facilities at the warehouse in accordance with the principles of the warehouse layout design. The layout design refers to: (1) facility layout problem (FLP) which is divided into Static, Dynamic and Stochastic Layout Problem, (2) facility re-layout problem (FRLP), (3) systematic layout planning (SLP). Warehouse site selection uses value of consideration factors which are keys of success of the company. After the step of location selection is location determination of the warehouse uses calculation of both extrapolation request and the required number of racks, while warehouse layout design uses the activity relationship chart, activity relationship diagram, and area allocation diagram to determine the room positions and warehouse facilities in the area. After doing the whole calculations, the location chosen for the new warehouse is at Cipondoh, Tangerang. The number of racks required is 98 retail shelves, 213 bulky shelves, 412 pallets, 69bulky and heavy duty racks. Based on the activity relationship chart (ARC), activity relationship diagram (ARD), and area allocation diagram (AAD), the warehouse layout is obtained for the new warehouse at Cipondoh that can be applied by the company for building Distribution Center project.

Abstract

Indonesias economic growth is the background of the article to see how far the balance of economic growth is in harmony with awareness of environmental sustainability. Within the scope of Indonesia, mindset towards Green Growth is necessary for a harmonious balance between economic growth and sustainable environment, to switch from the principle of Grow First, Clean up Later. This article is giving the perception of the Green Industry in Indonesia, especially those associated with current conditions, challenges and new paradigms. The second objective is to analyze and follow-up current conditions in Indonesia, along with the current challenges associated with economic growth in Indonesia, where the next need is to develop mindsets geared toward Green Growth. All the goals mentioned supported Energynomics basic theory and DPSIR (Driving Forces, Pressure, State, Impact and Response) methodology, therefore creating understanding and concrete action for development of the Green Industry. Economic growth is expected to lead toward a new mindset Green Growth in real action from all the companies categorized as Low, Medium and High impact.

Abstract

Malcolm Baldrige criteria is a set of criteria and expectations to achieve performance excellence of a company. PT Petrokimia Gresik – a fertilizer manufacturer that sells its products to both inside and outside the country - has implemented the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria to improve its performance to be a World Class Leader. Out of the six other criteria, Leadership became part of a separate research and a research support to the PT Petrokimia Gresik in connection with the relationship between Leadership and Innovation, performance, competitive advantage and sustainability (LIPCS). The empirical study and Managerial Implications in this study were simultaneously related to some reference books and journals. Further improvements to the company in general and specific refered to the increase in GDP and in the Global Competitive Index. Overall, the value of PT. Petrochemicals Gresik in 2011 based on the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for 2011-2012 was 568 which was at Good Performance band. Nevertheless, there were three more bands to be passed to pursuit World Class Leader.

Abstract

The layout applied on the production floor of the Department of Mechanic of PT. Jefta Prakarsa Pratama is not considered as an optimal layout. The reason triggered this optimal level, are some backtrack movements that reduce the effectiveness and efficiency of material handling activities. This research refers to two types of calculation methods. First, manual calculation, which is rectilinear distance measure. Second, computerized calculation, which is Quantitative Systems (QS) software. There are three critical criterias referenced in this research, i.e. straight flow of material, more minimal backtrack movement, and more minimal material moving distance. The iteration results using QS software are translated into block layout and then are made as a proposed layout. The rectilinear calculations performed manually are intended to calculate the total of material moving distance. The data processing obtained a re-layout solution which is more optimal for the production floor of the Department of Mechanic, because it could reduce backtrack distance by 75.28% and the material moving distance by 30.03%. The implementation of the proposed layout is expected to reduce the time of material moving activity on the production floor of the Department of Mechanic, so that the material moving process could run more effectively and efficiently.
