Abstract

AbstractThis research analyzes Litotes Language in the Macbeth Drama Written by William Shakespeare: Sociopragmatics approach. Thus, the objective of this analysis is to show and to analyze how the main characters use the litotes language in Macbeth. To reach that objective, this analysis applies sociopragmatics and litotes to gain the data. In analyzing this research, the writer applies a descriptive analysis method in which the result of the analysis will be described clearly. The results shown that many words and phrases used by the main characters in the Macbeths.Keywords: Macbeth, Litotes, DramaAbstrakTulisan ini menganalisis Bahasa Litotes yang terdapat dalam film Macbeth yang ditulis oleh William Shakespeare. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis bentuk, fungsi, dan makna bahasa Litotes yang digunakan oleh tokoh utama karya ini. Untuk mencapai tujuan itu, kajian ini menerapkan kajian sosiopragmatik. Kajian ini menerapkan metode deskriptif analisis dimana hasil analisis akan dideskripsikan dengan jelas. Dari deskripsi yang dijabarkan akan memperlihatkan bagaimana tindak tutur yang digunakan oleh tokoh utama karya ini dalam menghadapi masalah-masalah yang menimpanya. Kata Kunci: Macbeth, Litotes, Drama

Abstract

In this program, the community service team will provide strategies or tips in solving each problem in the Structure and Written Expression session. Therefore, this program is considered very necessary to make a valuable contribution to the community, especially the students of SMK Telkom Pekanbaru. The stages carried out in the training process to complete Structure and Written Expression questions, among others: (1) The preparation stage for training activities. At this stage, community service activities regarding training for the completion of Structure and Written Expression questions for students of SMK Telkom Pekanbaru. (2) The training phases. At this stage, students are tested for their skills in mastering the Structure and Written Expression questions

Abstract

One of the literary works is poetry. Poetry can be a medium for poets to convey ideas, concepts and thoughts. One of these ideas and thoughts is based on the observations of the environment. It implies that poetry is also related to other fields of study. One of the fields of study that can be related to literary works is ecocriticism. Ecocritics is focused on the relationship between literature and the environment or how the relationship between humans and their physical world are reflected in literary works. In this study, the writer tries to analyze the poetry Talang di Langit Falastin written by Dheni Kurnia through the concept of echocritics as an analytical lens. The result of this study shows that Talang di Langit Falastin illustrates environmental exploitation and pollution caused by political and economic factors. This poem becomes interesting because the poet analogized Talang Mamak and Palestine which are equally oppressed, causing environmental destruction and exploitation. The destruction of the environment in Palestine was caused by the Zionist invaders who bombarded with bombs and nuclear weapons, while the environmental destruction in Talang Mamak was carried out by capitalists who burned forests to open the new land for economic interests that affected the misery of living things in the environment.

Abstract

This writing analyzes a popular Malay text entitled Kisah 1001 Malam (Arabian Nights). This analysis shows that from the perspective of patriarchal ideology, a man is signified as a strong and powerful figure. On the other hand, the analysis shows that the strong and powerful figure in the text is not the man but a woman instead. It is shown by presenting the man character who fails to fulfill his role as the savior or the problem solver, thus, the role is taken by a woman character. Thus, this analysis applies descriptive analysis in which the result of the analysis is described vividly. From the description, it will show patriarchal ideology which places man as the powerful figure is replaced by a woman who is strong and smart.

Abstract

This present study exposes how the patriarchal ideology still survives in the international English movie depicting Chinese women, Mulan (1998) and Mulan (2020). This present study uses critical discourse analysis to analyse the movies, focusing on the the dialogue, characteristics and events in the movies. This study contributes by critically comparing how English movies which are directed and scripted by English native speakers depict the role of women in the patriarchal China. The results showed that despite the 22-year gap between movies, the portrayal of women becomes worse, presented differently due to a change in genre, and is only seemingly improved at the tail end of the latest movie. While there are differences in how both Mulans are faced with problems and how they face said problems, her resistance as female neither reflects nor felt by Chinese women.

Abstract

Drama merupakan salah satu bentuk karya sastra selain puisi dan prosa, namun pengajaran prosa dan puisi cenderung mendapat tempat paling atas daripada pengajaran drama. Pembelajaran sastra, khususnya drama dapat dicapai melalui empat keterampilan berbahasa yang saling berhubungan, yakni a)keterampilan berbicara, b)keterampilan menyimak, c)keterampilan membaca, dan d)keterampilan menulis. Melalui pelatihan ini, mahasiswa dibimbing untuk menguasai keempat keterampilan tersebut dengan menerapkan teknik Demonstration - Performance. Mekanisme pelatihan ini antara lain; dalam kegiatan mendengarkan dialog atau penggalan drama, mahasiswa telah melakukan kegiatan menyimak (listening skill), pada saat mahasiswa memperagakan penggalan drama, mahasiswa telah melakukan kegiatan berbicara (speaking skill), pada saat mahasiswa membacakan penggalan dialog dalam naskah drama, mahasiswa melakukan kegiatan membaca (reading skill), dan pada kegiatan menulis naskah teks drama yang akan dipentaskan, mahasiswa melakukan kegiatan menulis (writing skill). Peserta dalam pelatihan ini adalah Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan (HMJ) Sastra Inggris, Universitas Lancang Kuning, Pekanbaru. Metode yang digunakan dalam menerapkan teknik Demonstration – Performance adalah describing dan practicing. Hasil dari pelatihan ini memunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan bermain drama setelah teknik Demonstration – Performance ini diterapkan yang awalnya masih rendah.

Abstract

Target kegiatan pengabdian ini yakni anak-anak sekolah pada tingkat SMP dan SMA di Kampung Sialang Sakti–Siak Sri Indrapura yang berjumlah 12 orang. Kegiatan pengabdian ini memiliki beberapa tujuan, antara lain; 1) memberikan pengetahuan dan wawasan kepada anak-anak sekolah di Kampung Sialang Sakti–Siak Sri Indrapura mengenai penulisan puisi dengan media gambar, 2) menyampaikan ilmu dan pengetahuan mengenai tahapan dalam menulis puisi dengan memanfaatkan media gambar kepada anak-anak di Kampung Sialang Sakti–Siak Sri Indrapura, 3) memajukan kreatifitas anak-anak di Kampung Sialang Sakti–Siak Sri Indrapura dalam menulis puisi dengan media gambar, dan 4) menstimulasi anak-anak untuk menulis dan menyampaikan akan pentingnya menulis serta mengembangkan karya sastra, khususnya puisi. Pelaksanaan pelatihan penulisan puisi dengan media gambar ini dilaksanakan melalui metode ceramah dan praktik. Diawali dengan metode ceramah untuk memaparkan dan menjelaskan materi berupa pengertian pusi dan menulis puisi. Sedangkan metode praktik diperlukan untuk mempraktikkan keterampilan menulis puisi melalui pengamatan media gambar yang disajikan serta mengapresiasinya di depan semua peserta pelatihan. Penyampaian kegiatan pelatihan ini dilakukan oleh dosen yang tergabung dalam tim pelaksana kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis cerita rakyat Melayu yang berjudul Dayang Manini dengan fokus pada resistensi perempuan Melayu yang tercermin dalam cerita rakyat tersebut. Dalam analisis ini, data diambil dengan menggunakan teknik membaca-mencatat dan analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif analisis dengan menunjukkan resistensi yang dipilih oleh perempuan Melayu dalam menanggapi kekuatan laki-laki yang mendominasi dirinya. Jadi, analisis ini menunjukkan kualitas perempuan melayu dari perlawanan yang dipilihnya.

Abstract

This service aims to introduce the use of Malay tanjak to students and provide understanding and awareness about the need to know the use of Malay tanjak in daily life. Tanjak is a tradition and identity of the Malay community. Tanjak is one of the clothing accessories for men in Malay, the tanjak is used on the head as a symbol of Malay society. Tanjak has a symbol of authority among the Malay community, the higher and more complex the shape will show the higher social status of the owner. Tanjak is usually used by men when they want to go out, like a skull cap. Tanjak is commonly used by Malay people in all layers of social class, both in the form of royal support as aristocrats and lower classes of society. The development of life which is followed by the development of technology and the inclusion of foreign culture slowly shifts the existence of the use of Malay inclines. Previously, not using a hill was considered to violate adat. Therefore, the use of tanjak is a true Malay identity. The use of the Malay hill was reintroduced because many people did not know it, one of which was the use of the hill climb for sultans, commanders and ordinary people, the way to use the Malay hill was certainly very different from one another, for which students could later apply the use of the Malay hill to the community.

Abstract

Scientific articles are scientific papers of research results communicated in scientific publications, such as journals, magazines, or other publications. In schools, especially teachers who teach Bahasa Indonesia, are required to be able to motivate students to increase their reading interest in literature, because by studying literature students can get various benefits for their lives. Therefore, a teacher is required to be able to guide students to give appreciation for literary works, especially poetry. However, the reality in the field, teachers have difficulty teaching poetry musicalization. Because in addition to a calm understanding of literature itself, an understanding of music is also very important. This Community Service Activity aims to provide students with understanding and provide provisions for the ability to create poetry musicalization as an alternative in appreciating literature, especially poetry. The method used in this activity is in the form of workshops delivered with lectures, question-and-answer, and practical techniques. To find out the extent of student acceptance and understanding, as well as student abilities, at the beginning and end of the training an assessment or evaluation is carried out by filling out the pretest and posttest sheets. Based on the results of the tests that have been conducted, it is known that the participants experienced an increase in their understanding of the concepts of literary appreciation, poetry appreciation, and poetry musicalization from 64% to 100%. Starting from this understanding, students can be more creative in creating a poetry musicalization. Keywords: Literary Appreciation, Poetry Appreciation, Poetry Musicalization
