Abstract

Effect of pressure in the pipe at the rate of leakage from the pipe which is one of the main factors affecting the leak still not adequately understood. In this study conducted in the case of uni-axial stress and bi-axial with finite element method to pipe with a circumferential cracks. Flow rate of crack calculated by the equation torricolli. Exponential component crack for uni-axial tension will decrease if the crack length increases. While the bi-axial pressure, the opposite occurred. So that cracks will tend to open when the crack length increases and the crack length direction of the circular will have more surface area to open the cracks. Keywords : pipe, circumferential, crack

Abstract

Bending and notching is a common process in manufacturing world as in vehicles chassis fabrication. But, the recent problem is the limited tools that needed to bend and notch pipes. The objective of this research is to fabricate a tool or production machine that could bend and notch pipes based on need by using three roll bending method. As for the notching angle of 0  to 60  and the diameter for notching cutting is 1 to 2 inch. There are some calculations on machine structure by using solidworks simulation such as stress analysis, von mises and factor of safety. There are three trials in bending process such as deflection from 1, 2 and 3 cm and on the other side, notching trials start from 0  to 60 . This notching and bending machine created with two functions. The bending process is conducted in the middle part while the notching process is in the top part of the machine. This machine has 70 cm length, 50 cm wide and 120 cm height and the total amount of cost spent for this machine is Rp. 9.009.500.

Abstract

AMC (Aluminium Matrix Composites) adalah jenis material komposit logam dengan aluminium sebagai matriknya dan Fly Ash dan Magnesium (Mg) sebagai penguat dari matrik Aluminium. AMC mempunyai prospek pengembangan yang cukup menjanjikan, didasari oleh sifat-sifatnya yang baik, seperti kekerasan dan kekuatan yang tinggi, dan bahan dasar yang mudah didapatkan. Metode yang digunakan untuk pembuatan aluminium komposit yaitu metode stir casting, dengan menggunakan parameter temperatur pengadukan 800˚C, fraksi berat fly ash 14, 18 dan 22% dengan penambahan pembasah magnesium 2.5% serta kecepatan pengadukan konstan 350rpm dan waktu pengadukan 10 menit. Pengujian ini meliputi pengujian kekerasan, impak, komposisi kimia, densitas dan Scanning Electron Micropskop (SEM), secara berturut-turut nilai kekerasan meningkat dari paduan 14,18 dan 22 wt% fly ash dengan nilai 71,070, 72,661 dan 72,815 BHN, terjadi penurunan nilai impak dari setiap penambahan bahan paduan fly ash, di dapatkan nilai impak pada penambahan 14 wt% fly ash sebesar 11,354 joule, pada penambahan 18 wt% fly ash sebesar 10,456 joule dan pada penambahan 22 wt% fly ash sebesar 9,506. Hasil komposisi kimia masih banyak faktor pengotor pada waktu pengecoran Hasil pengujian densitas cendrung menurun seiring bertambahnya persentase jumlah fly ash. Pada hasil SEM diketahui masih banyaknya porositas yang terjadi dari hasil coran.

Abstract

Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) is a competition where the students design, build, and race the formula-style car. In this competition, the regulation stringent for the safety of participants. Chassis is one of the regulated parts among the other parts. This paper examines design process followed by chassis analysis by using Solidworks 2018 and Abaqus/CAE 6.14 software. The analysis process is carried out with Static Vertical Test, Torsional Stiffness Test, and Crash Impact Test using a safety standard in the form of a safety factor that must be more than 1 (SF> 1) to ensure the safety of the driver. The aim is to obtain an optimum final design based on FSAE Japan regulation as a reference for the Universitas Sriwijaya electric car team, namely Sriwijaya Eco in making the framework for the upcoming electric formula car.

Abstract

Material mechanical behavior is critical for both safety and economic considerations. Because engineering items are manufactured using appropriate grade materials, mechanical approval of the materials used must be completed before assembly. Petrochemicals, marine, and biomaterials are just a few of the industries that use stainless steel. Despite its extensive use, structural failure is still frequently caused by inadequate stainless steel type selection. As a result, dangerous conditions, resulting in personal harm or financial loss. Dangerous conditions is might result in accidents, resulting in personal injury or financial loss. Martensite stainless steel is a type of stainless steel with a high strength value but is brittle, necessitating careful handling. Intergranular corrosion, sensitization, tempering heat treatment, and the Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature (DBTT) are topics still working on Martensite stainless steel for researchers.
