Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan salah satu dari tujuan pembelajaran matematika yaitu kemampuan representasi matematis melalui pengembangan modul berbatuan wingeom software pada mata kuliah Geometri Analitik Bidang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Adapun tahapan penelitiannya yaitu: (1) Prelimininary research (penelitian awal); (2) Prototyping phase (tahap pengembangan), (3) Assesment phase (tahap penilaian). Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester II Prodi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Malikussaleh. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah satu kelompok mahasiswa unit A2 semester II. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan deskriptif kuantitatif yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data yang telah terkumpul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan termasuk kategori valid, praktis dan efektif

Abstract

The use of fuel is one thing that needs special attention, because most of the operating costs of a plant are fuel costs. One of the efforts to minimize the cost of generating fuel is called Economic dispatch. In this study, an Equal Incremental Cost method with a Linear Regression approach will be presented to obtain a minimum generation cost. The case taken is the Pangkalan Susu PLTU which operates two generating units. Based on the results of calculations using the Equal Incremental Cost method with the Linear Regression approach, the cost is -0.033% or an average of -13,111 $/hour.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Dewantara, Aceh utara. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk memberikan pengetahuan bagi guru-guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah, mengembangkan pengetahuan dan meningkatkan kualitas penulisan artikel ilmiah, melatih guru untuk mempublikasikan artikel penelitian secara mandiri pada jurnal nasional berbasi OJS (Open Journal System). Kegiatan ini di dasari oleh permasalahan mitra yaitu: (1) Belum adanya pelatihan khusus untuk mendukung penulisan karya ilmiah berbasis riset. (2) Minimnya pengetahuan guru dan keterbatasan ide dalam penulisan karya ilmiah. (3) Guru masih mengalami kesulitan untuk mempublikasikan artikel ilmiah secara mandiri pada jurnal nasional. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan terdiri dari 3 tahapan yaitu. Tahapan sosialisasi dan diskusi dilakukan melalui penyuluhan (pemaparan materi) tentang (1) Penulisan Artikel Ilmiah Berbasis Riset Bagi Guru dan Teknik Submission di Jurnal Nasional dan (2) Teknik Submission Artikel di Jurnal Nasional Berbasis OJS. Tahap kedua yaitu tahapan diskusi dimana pada tahap ini dilanjutkan dengan diskusi berupa tanya jawab antara pemateri dengan peserta. Tahap ketiga yaitu mempraktekkan bagaimana cara submit artikel ilmiah sesuai dengan target submission jurnal nasional berbasis OJS. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu semua peserta antusias mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan yang diberikan, hal ini terlihat dari para peserta yang menyimak dengan seksama materi yang disampaikan, dan mengajukan pertanyaan ketika ada kendala yang belum dipahami. Kata kunci: penulisan artikel lmiah; teknik submission ABSTRACTThis service activity was carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Dewantara, North Aceh. The purpose of this service is to provide knowledge for teachers in writing scientific articles, develop knowledge and improve the quality of writing scientific articles, train teachers to publish research articles independently in national journals based on OJS (Open Journal System). This activity is based on partner problems, namely: (1) There is no special training to support the writing of research-based scientific papers. (2) The lack of teacher knowledge and limited ideas in writing scientific papers. (3) Teachers still have difficulty publishing scientific articles independently in national journals. The method of implementing the activity consists of 3 stages, namely. The stages of socialization and discussion are carried out through counseling (exposure to material) on (1) Research-Based Scientific Article Writing for Teachers and Submission Techniques in National Journals and (2) Article Submission Techniques in OJS-Based National Journals. The second stage is the discussion stage where at this stage it is followed by a discussion in the form of questions and answers between the presenter and the participants. The third stage is to practice how to submit scientific articles in accordance with the OJS-based national journal submission target. The results obtained are that all participants are enthusiastic about participating in the training activities provided, this can be seen from the participants who listen carefully to the material presented, and ask questions when there are obstacles that are not yet understood. Keywords: scientific article writing; submission techniques

Abstract

This study aims to improve one of the objectives of mathematics learning, namely the ability of mathematical communication through the application of cooperative learning type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) based on ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) using Autograph Software in Statistics Course. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach to the type of quasi-experimental research. The study was conducted in the academic year 2016/2017. The population is all students of Mathematics Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Universitas Malikussaleh, and all students of Mathematics Education Study Program of the Faculty of Tarbiyah of the IAIN Malikussaleh Lhokseumawe are 80 students. Sampling technique by purposive sampling. Based on the results obtained that the value of F for learning factors of 4.451 with a significance of 0.038 smaller than the significance level of 0.05. Therefore, there is an increase in mathematical communication skills of mathematics education students through the application of cooperative learning type STAD by using Autograph Software on Statistics course. Then it can be concluded that the improvement of mathematical communication skills by using Autograph Software better than without using Autograph Software.Keywords: mathematical communication, cooperative learning type STAD, autograph software

Abstract

Various studies showed that there are some points which affect students’ achievement; one of them is mathematics self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is feeling, trust, and confidence of affective behavior of students toward their ability. In learning process, the students find obstacles in solving their problem such as relating one representation to another representation. Previous studies indicated that students’ achievement of mathematical representation ability have obstacles because the students did not understand relationship between concepts, ideas, and materials to be represented. The other studies claimed that the higher students’ self-efficacy, the higher mathematical multiple representation ability (MMRA). It means that self-efficacy has positive correlation with mathematic ability. This article will discuss about role of mathematics self-efficacy toward ability achievement of mathematical multiple representation ability (MMRA) in solving mathematics problem in order to increase students’ achievement.

Abstract

This type of research is quasi-experimental. This study examines the Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) model in improving students' mathematical communication skills through the learning module. The population in this study were all students of mathematics education from the Teaching and Education Faculty, from semester V with the sample being students of class A1 and class A2. This study was divided into two learning groups, namely the experimental group by applying the Learning Start Learning Model with a Question (LSQ) and the control group with conventional learning. Based on the results of calculations using the t-test at the significance level α = 0.05 obtained a ttest of 4.64 with a significance value of 0.003, while the ttable of 1.76. Because tcount > ttable (4.64 > 1.76) and significance < 0.05 (0.003 < 0.05). It can be concluded that increasing students' mathematical communication skills by applying the Learning Start Learning Model with a Question (LSQ) and using the learning module is better than the mathematical communication skills of students who obtain conventional learning without learning modules.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of Wingeom software in geometry learning in the Department of Mathematics Education. This type of research is quasi-experimental. This study examines the use of Wingeom software in geometry learning in the Department of Mathematics Education. The population in this study were all students of the Department of Mathematics Education under the Faculty Education and Teacher Training, Universitas Malikussaleh, and the samples were students of class A1 and class A2. The study was divided into two learning groups, namely the experimental group with the use of Wingeom Software and the control group with ordinary learning. This study begins with an instrument test which shows that (1) Validity indicates that the results are significant, (2) Very high reliability, (3) Good distinguishing power and (4) Moderate difficulty level. To test of homogeneity and normality that the data is homogeneous and normal. Based on the results of calculations using the t test at the significance level α = 0.05, obtained tcount of 4.59 with a significance value of 0.003 while the table of 1.68. Because tcount> ttable (3.127> 1.68) and significance <0.05 (0.003 <0.05). Then it can be concluded that the increase in the ability of mathematical representation of students who get learning with the use of Wingeom software is better than the ability of mathematical representation of students who get ordinary learning without Wingeom software.

Abstract

The learning Algebra courses are often taught using coventional textbooks. However, the reality of the learning outcomes has not been able to absorb the material to the maximum extent possible, and this is because the textbooks is limited in number so that students only record some of what is taught by the Lecturer. At the same time, electronic books are available free of charge in several world libraries. The purpose of this study is to determine the ability to think critically mathematically through the use of Elementary Algebra electronic books. The study of the method are used a Quasi Experiment with a nonrandomized Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design research design. The study population was all students who took Elementary Algebra in the Department of Mathematics Education, Malikussaleh University, in the Even Semester 2018/2019 academic year. Sample for the study was students of class A1 as an Experiment group using E-books for Teaching, and Class A2 as a Control group with lectures using conventional textbooks. The results showed that the mathematical critical thinking ability of students taught using Electronic books was better than the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who were taught using conventional textbooks. Thus the use of elementary algebra electronic books (E-books) can improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills in learning Algebra.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of REACT strategy assisted by GeoGebra software on students' mathematical representation ability. This study was quasi-experimental with a quantitative approach. The design used in this study was The Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. Four posttest questions were given to 25 students of Class VIII A and 25 students of Class VIII B at SMP Negeri Arun Lhokseumawe (public middle school). The data obtained from the posttest results were analyzed by data normality test and data homogeneity test, then hypotheses were tested using a t-test to see the effect of REACT strategy assisted by GeoGebra software on students' mathematical representation ability. The results of the data analysis of the posttest score tested using the t-test, the sig value was obtained. (2-tailed) of 0.000 > 0.05. This showed that there was a significant effect of using the REACT strategy assisted by GeoGebra software on students' mathematical representation ability.

Abstract

Students' mathematical communication is stated to be low because students learn by listening and seeing the teacher solve mathematical problems and students have difficulty in expressing everyday events in mathematical models. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the Inside Outside Circle (IOC) type of cooperative learning model on students' mathematical communication skills better than using scientific learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of research Quasi-Experimental Design and the design of this research The Nonequivalent Postets-Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Nisam, while the samples were class VIIIB as the experimental class and class VIII-A as the control class with the sampling technique of purposive sampling. The data collection technique in this study used a mathematical communication ability test. The data analysis was carried out for the mathematical communication ability test using the t-test because the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, the data were processed using SPSS 18 software and the hypothesis test results were obtained with a significant value of 0.000 less than 0.05, which means reject H0 and accept Ha. The results showed that there was an effect of the Inside-Outside Circle (IOC) type of cooperative learning model on students' mathematical communication skills.
