Abstract

Lampung province is being prepared by the government to become a food industry development center with superior products of Beras Siger made from raw cassava which is a food crop commodity. In order to improve the quality and quantity of Rice Siger, the Provincial Government of Lampung delivers through the Local Food Development Program (MP3L) program and increased production of sustainable Beras Siger. This research program was conducted to find out the problems related to, including the ways of cassava during harvest, the type of cassava that can be processed into Siger Rice, the quality of Siger Rice food products, production process procedures, human resources education workers support, available production house sufficient, capable resources, regulation, distribution, distribution of P-IRT permits, and program implementation have been well targeted. The desired results can be used as a consideration, input and information in determining the strategy model and success of the food diversification program of the basics of local resources, alignment of measures to address problems related to various production, demand for input output, agroindustry , government laws and policies to be used that can strengthen the revitalization of food crops for commodities.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to determine the quality of a given base material pellet steam treatment or blanching, determine the formulation of water use for the process of making elephant grass pellets to reach Pelleting Durability Index (PDI) of 100%, and measure the effectiveness of elephant grass pellets to the performance of large ruminants. The results of the research are obtained that the elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) with steam treatment 100ºC for 5 minutes and drying in the sun contains 36.51% crude fiber, crude protein 10.5%, energy metabolism of 4,826 kcal/kg, crude fat 1.8 %, water content 85.8%, 2.8% ether extract. ash content of 12.5%, 1.5% calcium and 0.4% phosphorus. The addition of water 10% of the weight of the material gives the best performance and value pellets made pellet durability index (PDI) was 100%. Milk production of elephant grass pellets giving treatment was higher (11.67 liters/day) compared to fresh grass treatment (10.5 liters/day) was significantly different at 5% level. Similarly, the parameters of the milk fat content in treatment provision elephant grass pellets (3.8%) was significantly different at 5% level by treatment giving fresh elephant grass (3.37%), while the phosphorus content, kalsium.laktosa, protein, and vitamin C did not happen the real difference between the two treatments.  Keywords: pellets, elephant grass, feed efficiency, animal performance

Abstract

       Pembangunan daerah merupakan bagian integral dari  pembangunan nasional. Dalam   rangka mengatasi problematika pembangunan daerah dan tertuang  dalam Rencana Pembangunann Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMD) Kabupaten Lampung Timur Tahun  2014-2019,  dan  sinergi  dengan  Program  Strategis  Provinsi  Lampung   dalam Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMD) Provinsi Lampung, yang salah satu programnya   Ketahanan  Pangan yaitu  meningkatkan produksi Beras Siger. Salah satu program yang  di upayakan untuk meningkatkan produksi dengan kualitas dan kuantitas yang ASUH (Aman, Sehat, Utuh, dan Halal) adalah dilakukannya transfer ilmu dari perguruan tinggi sebagai lembaga pendidikan dan pengadaan fasilitas produksi yang memadai meliputi sarana dan prasarana (alat teknologi mesin)  sederhana dan dapat dimanfaatkan oleh kelompok tani, yang  usaha selama ada namun  kualitas dan kuantitas produksi masih dibawah standar seharusnya. Beras siger adalah  produk  beras analog berbahan baku singkong yang mengadopsi proses pembuatan tiwul yang telah dimodifikasi dengan sentuhan  teknologi, warna  lebih  cerah,  bentuk  yang lebih  seragam,  serta bersifat instan (siap saji).  Proses pengolahan beras siger direkayasa pada tahap penyiapan tepung dengan cara mempersingkat waktu pengeringannya sehingga menghasilkan warna yang cerah. Sedangkan  bentuk yang lebih seragam direkayasa melalui penggunaan alat pembentuk  butiran  (granulator). Beras siger memiliki sifat fungsional dapat mencegah terjadinya obesitas dan pengendali  diabetes mellitus.
