Abstract

Doing a presentation is not easy; it needs self-confidence, practice, and knowledge. Assigning students to have presentations would be a great practice for both in and outside the classroom; it is a skill of most people will need in the working field. Doing presentations in the English Foreign Language classroom would practice all language systems areas (vocabulary, grammar, discourse, and phonology) and skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening), it would build students’ confidence, fluency, and knowledge of English. The teacher-researcher used the Action Research Method proposed by Kemmis and Taggart (1989) to illustrate the process of planning, action, observation, and reflection that formed spiral moments. The purpose of the study was used to see the improvement of the students’ self-confidence and the ability to speak up when performing a business meeting project. The subject was 32 students of the Accounting Department who were studying at the fourth semester in the year of 2016/2017. The result of the study showed that most students showed an improvement in all four language skills but the speaking skill had the greatest improvement. Most students seemed developed their motivation and participated in learning activities with interest and enjoyment.

Abstract

Engaging a fun class creates a positive classroom atmosphere. Research has indicated that if a positive classroom atmosphere is created, students will have better learning and engage more, which means it is one of the most effective and powerful tools teachers can use to encourage students learning. Oral communication skill is essential for thinking and learning. By getting the knowledge of it, students would be able to express information, opinions, understand concepts, and would be able to discuss experience and expertise. The researcher used an Action Research Method. The purpose was to see the improvement of the students' ability to speak up. The subject was 32 students of Accountant Department – State Polytechnic of Malang. The result of the study showed that most students showed an improvement in all four language skills, but speaking skills had the most significant increase.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari dibentuknya Posyandu (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu) di Indonesia adalah sebagai salah satu upaya pembangunan nasional yang tercermin dalam Indeks Pembangunan Manuasia (IPM) yang terdiri dari umur harapan hidup, tingkat melek huruf dan pendapatan per kapita. Posyandu adalah salah satu usaha kesehatan yang bersumberdaya masyarakat (UKBM) yang melibatkan kader yang sudah dipilih dan ditunjuk oleh masyarakat sehingga posyandu bisa dikatakan miliknya masyarakat. Posyandu Lansia Desa Talok dipilih debagai mitra dalam PKM ini karena jumlah lansia di lingkungan posyandu ini cukup tinggi yakni kurang lebih 70 orang dengan tingkat pengetahuan gizi dan kesehatan yang masih perlu ditingkatkan. Sebagian besar para lansia di area ini adalah ibu rumah tangga dengan latar belakang belakang pendidikan SD sampai SMA, namun pengetahuan mereka tentang gizi serta pola makan dan pola hidup yang baik masih minim. Di sisi lain, posyandu ini, sebagaimana posyandu pada umumnya, hanya memfokuskan pada memantau aspek kesehatan fisik lansia dimana tingkat partisipasi lansia masih rendah. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan penyuluhan tentang gizi pada lansia untuk meningkatkan tingkat kesehatan pada lansia. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan cara memberikan penyuluhan singkat tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan pad lansia terutama menjaga tekanan darah, gula darah, kolesterol dan asam urat. Lansia mengalami kemunduran dan keterbatasan maka konsistensi dan tekstur atau bentuk makanan harus disesuaikan. Mengingat kondisi dan permasalahan lanjut usia seperti diuraikan di atas, maka penanganan masalah gizi pada lanjut usia harus menjadi prioritas, karena permasalahannya terus meningkat sesuai dengan pertambahan jumlahnya. Dengan demikian penyuluhan kesehatan gizi pada lansia dan pemeriksaan fisik, penimbangan berat badan, serta pemeriksaan tekanan darah, kolesterol, asam urat dan gula darah pada lansia sangat perlukan, sesuai dengan kebutuhannya dan pada lingkungan yang tepat, sehingga para lansia tidak merasa lagi terabaikan didalam masyarakat.

Abstract

Pendidikan inklusi telah menjadi kebutuhan karena bermunculannya berbagai kasus anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK) yang semakin banyak. Tetapi, masih belum banyak sekolah dan lembaga pendidikan lainnya yang menyediakan pendidikan inklusi khususnya bagi ABK. Intinya, pendidikan ini belum populer di Indonesia. TK Inklusi Al Fasha merupakan sebuah lembaga pendidikan yang memberikan pendidikan bagi ABK pada tingkat Paud, TK dan SD. Sekolah ini berlokasi di Kepanjen, Kabupaten Malang. Terdapat 2 kelas yang diselenggarakan pada pagi dan siang hari dengan jenis ABK yang berbeda-beda. Pada kelas pagi, siswa yang dididik adalah usia dini atau mereka yang belum pernah mengenyam pendidikan sebelumnya, sedangkan kelas siang adalah kelas lanjutan. Jumlah guru tetap serta kepala sekolah yang mengabdi di sekolah ini adalah 13 orang dengan beragam latar pendidikan. Dipandang dari segi fasilitas, sekolah ini membutuhkan banyak bantuan seperti buku-buku, media belajar, mainan edukatif dan pelatihan. Sejalan dengan kondisi di lapangan, PKM berjudul Pelatihan dan Pengadaan Alat Tulis dan Media Belajar bagi TK Al Fasha diselenggarakan. Selain alat tulis, bantuan yang diberikan oleh kegiatan PKM ini berupa mainan edukatif yang ramah bagi ABK. Artinya mainan tersebit terbuat dari bahan yang aman serta mengandung muatan edukasi. Selain itu, diberikan juga alat tulis serta buku-buku cerita yang sesuai untuk ABK.

Abstract

Collaborative learning is a strategy of teaching and learning by grouping students to work together to solve a problem, complete an assignment, and produce a product. It increases learners’ motivation and promotes a harmonious atmosphere, decreasing classroom anxiety and facilitating interaction discussion and an individual sense of self-centeredness. At the same time, it enlarges students' knowledge and skills. One of the important skills is oral communication. Oral communication is an important skill to learn as it could express ideas and opinions. It uses to discuss knowledge and bridge the communication for ones who do not understand English. Therefore, this study aims to encourage students to do collaborative learning to strengthen their oral communication skills. The researcher used the action research method to see the improvement of the students’ communication skills. The subject was 32 students of the Accounting Department State Polytechnic of Malang. The study resulted that most students showed an improvement in all four language skills, but speaking skills had the greatest improvement.

Abstract

This study aimed to implement a Business Meetings Project using a Digital Pocket Presentation Guide to improve EFL students' oral communication. Therefore, the action research design was implemented to match the purpose of the study. The data collection techniques were started by asking students to do a pretest, implement the model, do observations during the activities, distribute a questionnaire and do interviews to see the students' improvement by asking students to do the post-test. The result of the research showed that the student's progress sustainably improved from the first evaluation, which was 48,75, to the second evaluation, which was 53,760 and to the third evaluation, which was 56,25 for the mean. The score continuously improved from the first evaluation to the third evaluation. The results of the research show that the students gave good attitudes and responses during the process of implementing the model. Questionnaire and interview reports show that students agreed on the implemented model as it motivated and improved their self-confidence and capability in oral communication skills. In conclusion, implementing the business meeting projects through a digital pocket presentation guide enhanced students' verbal communication skills.

Abstract

Some experts said that storytelling can be used to improve students' learning to express oral communication. Connecting with this idea, the researches decided the purpose of the study by improving the students’ speaking ability with producing a storytelling created in the form of a video component. The researchers used an Action Research, The students were required to create a cartoon story, voiceover narration, and background music that produced in a video presentation. The object of the research was 30 students of the Accounting Department of 2 nd Semester 2023. The result of the study was significantly improved which could be seen from the mean of the first project which amounted as big as 77,33, while on the second project, the amount was 83,16. The evaluation kept increased in every evaluation. The conclusion stated that the model was successfully implemented. Key words: Improving, Speaking Ability, Storytelling, Video

Abstract

The CBL offer dynamic and engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and preferences. By working collaboratively in groups, students not only enhance their language skills but also develop essential communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Therefore, this study is aimed at investigating the efficacy of case-based learning model integrated with critical thinking skills to improve EFL learners’ reading comprehension. This study is designed in a classroom action research. 27 EFL learners are involved in this study. The research participants are selected in purposive random sampling. To collect the research data, the observation sheets, reading tests, and critical thinking tests are applied as the research instruments. The data consisted of qualitative and quantitative one. Qualitative data are analyzed qualitatively while the quantitative data are counted in statistical analysis. Based on the results, the findings show that the case-based learning model integrated with critical thinking skills is effective to improve EFL learners’ reading comprehension. The improvement lies on learners’ vocabulary mastery, grammar knowledge, comprehension, reading strategies, and fluency. For further studies, researchers can include metacognitive strategies and measure learners’ linguistic awareness in learning language skills.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to participate in empowering mothers who are members of PKK activities in the neighborhood of RT 12 RW 09 Sawojajar. The objectives of this training are enhancing knowledge of Malangan batik, enhancing entrepreneurship intentions through ideas for PKK women to try business opportunities in the Malangan batik, Enhancing knowledge to increase family income, and Enhancing knowledge of family financial management. The method used is a practical and educative training method through lectures, simulations, questions or answers, and the practice of making Malangan batik, fostering entrepreneurship intentions, ways to increase family income, and managing family finances. The result of this training is to gain new insights into the process of making batik Malangan. The training participants are also interested in starting a Malangan batik business as a form of interest in entrepreneurship and an effort to increase family income, and the training participants can prepare household budgets properly and correctly, to realize household financial health.
