Abstract

The educational achievement in Indonesia is measured by implementing the National Examination or Ujian Nasional (UN). Throughout its implementation, the UN results shown unsatisfying results, including in mathematics subjects. This fact indicated that there are mathematics topics that are considered to be difficult for students. This study aimed to investigate the difficult topics of mathematics in Vocational High School (VHS) based on UN data. This study was a descriptive research with the quantitative approach by using the UN report results in the level of VHS from Center for Educational Assessment of the Ministry of Education and Culture in the period of 2008 to 2017 (ten years) as a research data source. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive by mapping the mathematics topics based on proportion correct answers or “daya serap”. A topic was considered difficult if the proportion correct answer was less than 50%. The results showed that there were 14 difficult mathematics topics in the UN implementation at the VHS level from 2008 to 2017. These topics include the comparison of trigonometric functions, solid figure, limit, measure of data dispersion, permutation and combination, differential, area between two curves, a measure of central data tendentious, probability, logarithm, integral, sequence and series, linear program, and polar coordinates system. The implications of the research findings for learning practice and future research opportunities are discussed.

Abstract

Homework had become a tradition in teaching and learning mathematics in school. Even so, in Indonesia, there is not enough research on homework. Our research is conducted to investigate high school students’ views on homework and to provide the basis for further research on homework in Indonesia. In this research, we use exploratory-descriptive qualitative to explore and describe the students’ view of homework. We collected the data from 124 high school students by using the structured interview conducted via online form. The data were analyzed by using the thematic analysis. Based on our results, we found that (1) students know that mathematics homework can help them with their academic achievement and their attitudes toward their studies, (2) mathematics homework is not high on their priority, (3) it makes them tired physically and mentally, and (4) students argue that mathematics problems are better to be solved in the class where they can ask the teacher. We also found their difficulties in doing their homework, such as (1) lack of knowledge (2) their teachers do not give them the necessary ‘tools’ to solve the problems, (3) they can’t ask for helping hands if they can’t solve the problems (4) some emotional  problems such as motivation, and (5) other priorities are higher on their list.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the challenges of higher education in implementing online learning during the pandemic Covid-19 outbreak. This study was a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected from 408 students and 20 Lectures from 6 public universities and 6 private universities in Java, Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku, by filling out online questionaires and in-depth interviews via social media. The process of data analysis was data reduction, identifying themes, mapping interrelationships between themes, and concluding findings The results of data analysis showed that there were two main challenges, both for lecturers and students. First, limited resources, such as electronic devices (laptops/smartphones/others), learning resources, electricity, and internet connections. Second, lack of knowledge/skills on how to use the online learning media, finding and/or providing learning resources, managing online learning, providing online measuring tools, and carrying out online assessments. This condition has the greatest impact on students from low economic families, and who live in areas with limited access to learning facilities, such as electricity, and internet connections. Most of them lose learning opportunities because of these limitations.  Third, the difficulty of time management during the online learning period.

Abstract

Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah ada pengaruh kemampuan komunikasi matematis terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Baubau? Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan komunikasi matematis terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Baubau. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Ex-post facto. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Baubau yang terdiri atas 11 kelas. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 15% dari jumlah populasi dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling di SMP Negeri 4 Baubau. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian menggunakan angket. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dengan menggunakan regresi sederhana diperoleh persamaan regresi linear: Y = 63,108 + 0,153X. Dengan nilai t sebesar 1,220, signifikan pada 0,258 > 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa H0 diterima, atau H1 ditolak. Artinya tidak terdapat pengaruh kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa di SMP Negeri 4 Baubau.

Abstract

Tujuan peneliti ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh sarana dan prasarana belajar di sekolah terhadap motivasi belajar matematika siswa SMP di Kecamatan Wangi-Wangi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif metode Causal komperatif.Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa SMPN 2 Wangi-Wangi yang berjumlah 20 orang siswa dan siswa SMPN 5 Wangi-Wangi yang berjumlah 20 orang. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa angket sarana dan prasarana di sekolah dan angket motivasi belajar matematika. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t yang homogen dengan bantuan program SPSS 22. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) rata-rata motivasi belajar matematika SMPN 2 Wangi-Wangi sebesar 50,00dan rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa SMPN 5 Wangi-Wangi sebesar 39,85. (2)Analisis dengan uji-t diperoleh nilai t sebesar 8,672, signinifikan pada 0,000<0,05, sehingga disimpulkan ada pengaruh yang signifikan sarana dan prasarana belajar di sekolah terhadap motivasi belajar matematika siswa SMP di Kecamatan Wangi-Wangi.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran dengan teknik scaffolding terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP Negeri 4 Baubau. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan eksperimen dengan desain posttest-only control group desain. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Baubau tahun ajaran 2019/2020 dan terdiri dari 14 kelas. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil menggunakan sample random sampling yaitu siswa kelas VIII.6 dan siswa kelas VIII.4 yang berjumlah 31 siswa untuk setiap kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa essay tes kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial dalam bentuk uji-t. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah: 1) hasil tes untuk kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai rata-rata yaitu 83,87; 2) hasil tes untuk kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai rata-rata yaitu 63,7; 3) dari hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji t diperoleh thitung = 7,756 dan diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,050 sehingga disimpulan H0 ditolak. Dengan demikian penerapan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan teknik scaffolding berpengaruh sevara signifikan terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP Negeri 4 Baubau.

Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah terdapat pengaruh pemahaman materi pecahan terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan persoalan ilmu fara’idh pada siswa kelas IX MTs Al-Amanah tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemahaman materi pecahan terhadap kemampuan dalam menyelesaikan persoalan ilmu faro’idh pada siswa kelas IX MTs Al-Amanah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif asosiatif.Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX MTs Al-Amanah yang terdiri dari 3 kelas dengan jumlah 90 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh, karena seluruh populasi yang ada di jadikan sebagai sampel. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan Instrumen penelitian (soal) yang telah dinyatakan valid dan reliabel yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Instrumen (soal) tersebut dibagikan kepada responden yang merupakan sampel penelitian. Tes yang diujikan ada 2 yaitu tes tentang pemahaman bilangan pecahan dan tes kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah Faraidh/harta waris. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah: ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara kemampuan menyelesaikan operasi bilangan pecahan terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan persoalan harta waris. Koefisien korelasi r = 0,810. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh pemahaman siswa mengenai operasi bilangan pecahan terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan persoalan ilmu faro’id adalah sebesar sebesar 81% sedangkan 19% kemampuan faraidh (Y) dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain yang tidak diteliti. Dengan persamaan Y= 0,872X + 7,861 artinya masih tetap diperoleh skor kemampuan menyelesaikan harta waris sebesar 7,861 tanpa dipengaruhi oleh variable X.

Abstract

Objective of the research was to see the effect of applying Problem Solving method toward students’ Higher Order Thingking Skill (HOTS) at SMP Negeri 2 Kaledupa. The research used quantitative approach with quasi experimental design. Population in the research was all grade VII SMP Negeri 2 Kaledupa consisted of three classes were A, B, and C with 60 students in academic year 2020/2021. Samples taken consisted of 2 classes by using simple random sampling technique in which class VII B consisted of 20 students as experimental class and class VII C consisted of 20 students as control class. Instrument used in this research was HOTS essay test. Research outcome showed that: 1) the mean score of pretest result in experimental class was 20.40; 2) the mean score of posttest result in experimental class was 37.950; 3) the mean score of pretest result in control class was 19.10; 4) the mean score of posttest result in control class was 29.30. Based on the Higher Order Thingking Skill (HOTS) and the result of inferential analysis used t-test showed that applying Problem Solving learning method significantly effected toward students’ Higher Order Thingking Skill (HOTS) at SMP Negeri 2 Kaledupa.

Abstract

Problem statement of this research was how cordthe level of reliability of the test mede by Mathematics teacher at the Junior High School Level in Baubau City according to the Classical Test Theory. Objective of this research was to analysis and to describe the level of reliability of the test made by Mathematics teacher at the Junior High School Level in Baubau City according to the Classical Test Theory. This research used quantitative research according to the Classical Test Theory. Data collection technique in this research used research instrument of multiple choice answer sheet at Junior High School student in VIII grade who took the end of the even semester test for Mathematics for the 2020/2021 academic year along with the answer key using ITEMAN application. Based on the research outcome, it was concluded that the level of reliability of the test made by Mathematics teacher according to the Classical Test Theory at the Junior High Schoool Level in Baubau City which was analyzed by the ITEMAN program had a reliability level based on the criteria category consisting of 7 school namely SMP Negeri 4 Baubau was 0.844 > 0.600 very high category, SMP Negeri 2 Baubau was 0.719 > 0.600 and SMP Negeri 18 Baubau was 0.778 > 0.600 high category, SMP Negeri 8 Baubau was 0.410 > 0.600 enough category, SMP Negeri 10 Baubau was 0.337 < 0.600 low category, SMP Negeri 6 Baubau was -0.173 and SMP Negeri 16 Baubau was -0.448 < 0 unreliable category.

Abstract

Problem statement of this research was how estimation of true score and standard error measurement of teacher made test mathematics subject according to classical test theory at the Junior High School level in Baubau city. Objective of this research was to know estimation of true score and standard error measurement of teacher made test Mathematics subject according to classical test theory at the Junior High School level in Baubau city. This research was descriptive quantitative research with the research subjects were all multiple choice tests made by the teacher for the final even semester test for the student at class VIII academic year of 2020/2021 in Mathematics subject of 7 Junior High School in Baubau city. The instruments of this research were answer sheets and student answer keys which were collected using documentation techniques. Data analysis was using the ITEMAN program. The results showed that the measurement standard error (E) of the Mathematics teacher made test at the Junior High School level in Baubau city consisted of 7 relatively small schools, including SMP Negeri 1 Baubau of 2,224, SMP Negeri 3 Baubau of 2,680, SMP Negeri 5 Baubau of 2,005, SMP Negeri 7 Baubauof 2,147, SMP Negeri 9 Baubau of 1,450, SMP Negeri 11 Baubau of 1,883, and SMP Negeri 17 Baubau of 1,995. This showed that the observed score obtained by student (X) tends to be close to the actual score (T).
