Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to determine students’ responses to the Problem Based Learning (PBL) on Newton’s Law material at Junior High School 5 Pontianak. This research was a survey. The sampling was taken Proposive Sampling method with intact group technique, thus students of VIII-A who have been given learning with PBL became the sample in the study. The research instrument was a response questionnairein in a total 10 statements with 3 response aspects. The analysis of students’ responses generally stated agreement with Problem Based Learning (PBL) of 78,53%, the results of the students’ to the Problem Based Learning (PBL) showed very interested criteria. Based on the finding, the Problem Based Learning model can be used as learning alternative to implementation learning. Keywords: Newton’s Law, Problem Based Learning, Responses

Abstract

AbstractThe research’s goal is to know the effect of CLIS model implementation by using the refutation text in remediating the student misconception in hydrostatic pressure topic in SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak. The pre-experimental design with the design of one group pretest-posttest was used in this research. The population is all 8th grade students of A, B, C, and D class of SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak. The learning sample was taken on an intact group of 8th D class with 30 students. The research instrument was using the diagnostic test that consists of 12 question of multiple questions and open question. The average declining percentage after the remediation by using the CLIS model with refutation text was 51,39%, with the highest declining happened on indicator 1 which was 63,33%. The Mc Necmar test was tested with the significance of 5% which shows that there was a significant changing of misconception after the CLIS with refutation text was applied to remediate the misconception. The CLIS model that utilizes the refutation text is effective to remediate the misconception of students in hydrostatic pressure topic or material with the DQM score of 63,19% which is considered as medium. Keywords: Remediation, Misconception, CLIS, Refutation Text, Hydrostatic Pressure

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to know the effectivity of the Relating Experiencing Applying Cooperating Transferring (REACT) design to remediate the misconceptions of the students toward work and energy subject. This study used quasy-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design which 58 students participated at the X grade in SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya, which was taken by simple random sampling. The data was taken by 14 multiple choice open-ended questions. The average of the reduction of the misconceptions in the experimental class was 47.42%, where as in control group was 18.86 %. Based on U Mann-Whitney with significance 5%, showed that there was a significant difference between the REACT design and conventional design to remediate the student’s misconceptions in work and energy. REACT design is effective in remediating the student’s misconceptions in work and energy with effect size score in 4.08 which is categorized high enough by Cohen. So the REACT design can be used as the alternative design for remediating the misconceptions.Keyword: Misconception, REACT, Remediation,  Work and energy

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to find out student’s ability in solving the graph of work done by gas. The method of this research was a descriptive survey. 134 students of 12th grade in MAN 2 Pontianak were chosen as the sample of this research by using saturation sampling technique. Open-ended multiple choice items test (4 questions) and essay test (4 questions) were used to represent three indicators of student’s ability, and unstructured interview was also used to find out the factors that caused students’ error. Based on the analysis data, was found that the average of the ability of all sample in solving the graph of work done by gas was 39,03 (categorized as low). Based on the result of Mann Whitney U-Test, was found there is a significant difference (zcount: 2,73 >ztable: 0,997), that students with better mathematical ability (high group) have better ability in solving question on the graph of work done by gas than students with lower mathematical ability (low group). The students who were unable to solve the graph of work done by gas, were caused by low conceptual ability, low spatial ability, low remembering ability, low mathematical ability, and students’ lack of interest in the subject. These findings are expected to be the references to improve the students’ ability in solving the graph of work done by gas. Keywords:  Descriptive, Graph, Work Done by Gas, Student’s Ability.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to reveal profile, the  percentage and find out the causes of students having difficulty in solving about work and energy. Research conducted at SMPN 12 Pontianak with research subjects wAere 73 students. Data collected by the test essay and interviews. The analysis data technic that did was Miles and Huberman. The results show that students' difficulties are divided into 5 according to the Heller problem solving stages. (1) Difficulty of visualize the problems experienced by students was 95.62%. The cause is because students do not know to draw sketches on the problems. (2) The difficulty of physics description experienced by students was 55.06%. The cause is lack of understanding of the problem given. (3) The difficulty of the plan a solution experienced by students was 47.12%. The cause is lack of understanding of the concept used. (4) While the difficulty of execute the plan experienced by students was 52.06%. Because it is wrong to write down and be asked, it causes students to have difficulty carrying out the plan. (5) And difficulties check and evaluate was 53.43%. The cause is because the students are less careful in checking the answers. Keywords: analysis difficulty, problem solving Heller, work and energy

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Integrasi Remediasi Miskonsepsi, Problem Solving Abstract: The purpose of this Quasi-Experimental Research Design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design was used to determine remediation that integrated in the learning is effective to reduce the number of students? misconception about temperature and heat material in senior high school. This study involved 33 students of class X IPA 3 (experimental group) and 33 students of class X IPA 1 (control group) as the sample which had been chosen by intact group. The results based on the U Mann-Whitney test was obtained Zscore <    -Ztable (-5.78 < -1.96), so Ho is rejected. This showed that there are differences significant decreasement the number of students? misconception (? = 5%) between the experimental group and control group. The effect size implementation of the remediation that integrated in the learning to decreased the number of students? misconception is high (d = 1.46). Thus, the use of integrated remediation in learning is effective to reduce the number of students? misconception in the temperature and heat material.
