Abstract

The games industry has been growing rapidly as attested by their increase in numbers and varieties (genres),sophisticated graphic display, and rich features. Not only are the gamesplayed by adolescents but they are loved by children, too. However, most games played by children do not help to educate them.For that reason, we propose an educational game to introduce the florae and faunae of Indonesia. It is an adventure game, exploring the islands of Indonesia. Information will be given for every flora or fauna found during the exploration. The game has “save and load” features and can record the floraeand faunaecollected.The game has been tested on different computers (with different specifications). It was found that the game can run smoothly on computers fulfilling the minimum requirements.

Abstract

The rapid development of techonology nowadays causes increased competition in business world, one example of technology application in business is online shopping website, promoting goods via internet. The transaction progress in Enggal Waras store is still done manually, causing the transaction must be done inside the store (customer must come to the store to buy goods), moreover often happen the refusing of customer because the goods that the customer asked is not available in the store. To overcome this problem, then an online shopping website is designed for Enggal Waras store.This website is made using PHP as programming language, MySQL as database, and Apache as web server.From the system examination with questionnaire, website get the highest point 3,8 out of 5 for the easiness to operate. From that we can conclude that the website’s features are adequate for user needs and can be operated easily.

Abstract

Elementary school children generally like to play games, as a survey reported that more than a quarter of children around the world have their handheld computers before they reach eight years of age. Children may reason that games can be used as a mean of refreshing when they get bored in study. However, in reality many children play games not useful to improve their knowledge and even become addicted and forget to study.In this manuscript, author make an English educational game targeted for elementary 1-2 school children. Children are expected to enjoy the game while learning English.This application has been reviewed by some elementary school English teachers. They responded that the game’s content matches well with the teaching material taught in their class.

Abstract

The popularity of Android based device could lead into an abundant amount of device choices from many vendors. There’s a lot factors that one needed to consider before they can decide one device on the market that fully coping their needs. Some of whice are device’s performance, size, and price. The benchmark application will put the device into trial which consists of CPU computation, JavaScript performance, Graphics, and Storage capability. Application aside, there will be a web service intended to provide service for masses in an easier and a simpler way.Based on the test results, the application can run well and can perform all of its functions. Score output are relevant and can give the user general view about the performance from the device on the market. On several later iteration of android version, usage permission for external storage are very limited. Hence, DriveSpeed2 can’t be run because the application couldn’t write on external storage freely.

Abstract

Museum is a place to store a variety of cultural heritage that can be used as an educational attraction for the community and study materials used by academics. But unfortunately the public interest to make the museum as a tourist destination is very low. Therefore we need innovation to attract people, and in this case the innovation made in the utilization of NFC technology in android . NFC technology is currently being highly developed and has been used in many applications, so the utilization of that technology is expected to dispel the impression of being outdated and unattractive, commonly attached to the museum.This application will be divided into two, namely mobile applications for visitors that have been developed using Android Studio software and web applications for administrator that developed using Notepad++ and MySQL database. This mobile applications can deliver information of objects in the museum in the form of text, video, and audio by scanning the NFC tag which the results of the scan will direct the application to retrieve data from a web application as a server for database management. This application can also display museum’s profile, museum’s events, museum’s maps, and mini games. From this application museum can also obtain statistical data which can be useful for the development of the museum that can be accessed from web application.Based on the results of implementation which has been tested, this application was able to deliver the information in the format of text, image, audio, and video by scanning NFC tag. In addition, from the application feasibility tests on random users, all respondents express that they are more interested to visit museum with the presence of this application.

Abstract

Social commerce marketplace website is a website that acts as a third party to bridge transactions between buyers and sellers as well as optimizes the use of social media. With the payment gateway provided by the marketplace website, buying and selling transactions online can be done safely so a buyer does not need to hesitate if s/he wants to buy a product from a seller. Similarly, the seller also should not hesitate to sell his/her products to anyone.Utilizing the API provided by Facebook and Instagram, the marketplace website can be integrated with those social media. A Facebook user can sign up with his/her account and share products from the marketplace website to his/her social media accounts. In addition, e-commerce sellers who use Facebook or Instagram for online business can upload their products directly from those social media. Automatically, the products that had been uploaded can be viewed on the marketplace website. Thus, the e-commerce sellers can reach a wider customer base.

Abstract

Applications commonly used to solve the equations of dynamic analysis produce output that is less accurate because the use of mass implementation is less precise. Most of the applications are commercial and require the installation process before they can be used. The authors developed an application that uses website as the user interface, so that it can be accessed easily and does not require any installation process. The Website was created by using a more precise mass implementation so that the output becomes more accurate with simulated deformation and structure deflection.The Authors designed the website so that a user can have an account to make a project that is public or private, and an admin can manage the member data. Input process data are entered into tables with tabs such as node, properties, elements, joint mass, joint loads, ground acceleration, process so that the user can perform data input easily. Dynamic analysis calculation is performed by processing the input data using the Newmark method involving the creation of stiffness, mass, damping matrices the initialization of displacement, velocity, and acceleration the calculation of integration constants, the creation of element stiffness matrix, the calculation of displacement with time dependent, the calculation of displacement, velocity and acceleration.This dynamic analysis website generates outputs like all mentioned matrices in each element,  structure stiffness matrix, structure mass matrix, and displacement vector that conform with the exact solution. Results of displacement vector are  used to display the simulation of deformation and structure deflection at each time interval so the the structurak changes are observable from the beginning to the end.

Abstract

Distributed and parallel applications are growing rapidly in this modern era, and so are the needs for more compute resources. The emerging solution to meet these needs is cloud system. Cloud is a collection of computers working together as a unified system. The cloud system provides compute resources to users.One type of cloud is private cloud. Private cloud has restricted users, who work in the same environment or company. As needed, the deployed cloud service is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), where users can request for certain computer specifications with a specific operating system.Computer laboratories in Petra Christian University have computer resources with sufficient specifications that can be utilized to implement a private cloud. The laboratories are not always used for learning classes, thus their resource usage is not optimal. Therefore, implementation of the private cloud is carried out at one of the computer laboratories.OpenStack cloud framework was used for the implementation. Evaluation was done by measuring the performance of the virtual instances and comparing it to that of the physical hosts. The results were used to further determine the benefits offered by the private cloud.

Abstract

Cloud computing is a new technology that is being hotly discussed by experts in information technology. Cloud computing technology is here to address the challenge of more efficient computing technologies. So an idea has come about to build a cloud system in the Petra Christian University’s computer laboratory. However implementing the cloud could interfere with the use of existing lab. The application aims to help the user manage the cloud system to run according to the desired schedule.The application development involved evaluation on the scheduling system, enhancement on the filter scheduler to accommodate a time schedule, and creation of the web-based user interface to manage the time schedule (in the form of a calendar).The application can restrict the OpenStacks instance deployment only on the time schedule allowed by the system administrator. In addition, the system scheduler has negligible latency (overhead), so that it will not affect the system scheduler’s performance.

Abstract

High life demands nowadays make the individual emotional state change easily. Music is one of many media that is used to stabilize a person’s emotional condition. However, wrong use of music can worsen a person’s emotional condition, as in the case of today’s society.To prevent that, an application that can detect the user’s facial expression to stabilize the user’s emotional state through music is developed. The expression on the face is determined by the position of eyebrows, eyes, mouth, and wrinkles features. The positions of detected features are compared with those in a neutral face that has been previously calibrated. The difference of features’ positions will be used as input of the trained neural network to determine the expression on the detected face.Through some experiments, the accuracy of detection of facial features and facial expressions are known. The detected expression will trigger the playback of music to stabilize the user’s emotional condition. The weakness of this application is that the music library must be set manually by the user.
