Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of guest satisfaction with bartender services and efforts made by bartenders to increase guest satisfaction at the Melia Bali Hotel’s Tapas Bar. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability, with a total sample of 60 respondents. Then, the data is processed with service quality techniques and important performance analysis presented with Cartesian diagram. The result showed that guest satisfaction with bartender services the Melia Bali Hotel’s Tapas Bar as a whole has shown good service as indicated by the gap of service quality scores. The result of the important performance analysis show more positive service quality gap scores than negative service quality scores.

Abstract

To design green-based learning, the lecturers should have broad insights on the linkages of green concepts in learning, high creativity, good learning methodology skills, high self-confidence, and courage to manage and develop materials. The formulation of the problem focused in this article is the effectiveness of green bartending learning in improving the competence of the students on Study Program of Hospitality of State Polytechnic of Bali (Politeknik Negeri Bali-PNB). This study was conducted on the fourth semester students as the research sample. The sample of research is determined according to the number of students in each class that is as much as 28 people. Based on the results of the analysis can be concluded that the application of learning based on green Bartending very effective in improving the achievement of student competencies This is evidenced by the results of statistical tests that show that there are differences in achievement of competence significantly between groups of students who are given the treatment of green-based Bartending learning with groups of students with learning using textbook/handout. It is suggested to the management to encourage and facilitate lecturers in implementing green-based learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the receptionist role known as the first and last impression of the guest. Quality of service is the thing that affects customer satisfaction. This research is aimed at knowing how the receptionist’s service quality towards customer satisfaction in Grand Inna Kuta. The data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires. While, the technique of sampling applied was incidental sampling of 85 respondents. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 20 software through the techniques of validity and reliability, and importance performance analysis. The results show that in general the assessment of guests staying at the Grand Inna Kuta hotel, regarding the quality of receptionist services at the hotel, can be satisfactory. This can be shown from the analysis where the average value of perception is 3.9. Indicator that make good perception is able to answer questions, able to give clear and easy to understand information, completeness and readiness of receptionist staff, knowledge of existing facilities at Grand Inna Kuta, ability of staff to quickly respond to problems of tourist complaints, general knowledge about Bali, hospitality of receptionist staff, timeliness, ease of receptionist staff to be met, helpful, politeness of receptionist staff, language mastery and courtesy of the reception staff. Indicator that formed a bad perception is the timeliness of the receptionist staff in serving the guests

Abstract

The participation rate of Balinese labor in cruise ships over the last years has dramatically increased. The growth of Balinese labor who works on cruise ships in the past four years reached more than 18 percent. This fact seems unique since working there does not only attract Balinese men as happened in the past but also the women. It is happening because they have been prepared themselves in accordance to the competencies and qualifications needed in cruise ships. The present study aimed to analyze the impacts of Balinese women works on cruise ships overview from economic and socio-cultural perspective. The research subjects were Balinese women who used to or were still working in the cruise ships. This research used qualitative data. The collected data started from one Balinese women having experience in the cruise ships and then spread to the other workers. To answer the research questions, data collection was conducted through observation and deep interviews. The data were analyzed by qualitative analysis. The impact of Balinese women working in cruise ships was overviewed from economic and socio-cultural perspectives. The economic perspective likes: Balinese women working in cruise ships able to improve the family economy, and employment for the community directly or indirectly in the cruise ships. The socio-cultural perspective likes: by working in cruise ships able to motivate the other Balinese women to works on cruise ships, with working in cruise ships can open the horizons and the way of thinking society, increase the personal discipline, and then improve the science and technology in tourism especially at cruises, and growth the awareness to conserve the cultural after seeing the variety of cultures in the word

Abstract

The integrated practical learning process has not been comprehensively implemented in the Tourism Department yet. Therefore, it is considered necessary to improve the learning method. The study aims to analyses the effectiveness of integrated learning in the Food Division learning. The learning method which will be implemented action class experiment approach in which four courses, namely Food Production Operation, Restaurant and Bar Operation, Cost Control and English for Food Division are synergized under the same topic. The type of the research is classroom action research with student center learning approach. This current study applied the action class experiment approach in which two groups of samples were differently treated. The t-test, was used to test whether the learning achievement. The result of the test analysis showed that the implementation of the integrated practical learning process significantly contributed to accelerate the achievement of the competency of the students of the food division. Therefore, the integrated learning process is a highly effective one to be implemented in the vocational institution. The result of the statistical test showed that the competence achieved by the students with the integrated practical learning process was significantly different from that achieved by the students with the partial practical learning process. Therefore, it’s suggested to the management of the Tourism Department to motivate and facilitate the teaching staff especially those teaching the core courses to implement the integrated practical learning model to accelerate the achievement of competence in the learning materials taught to the students.

Abstract

This article is based on research the perception of tourists to the butler’s service at Akara Villas in Kuta.This research is a combination of quantitative and qualitative data with tourism sociology approach. The data of tourists were collected by accidental random sampling with interview techniques combination, observation and adopting data from publication. The number of samples are used in this research is 70 respondents. According to the research’s finding (13 variables) the perception of tourists to the butler’s service who works at Akara Villas in Kuta is very good or very satisfying with the average score of 4.38. This means the butler’s service is necessary to be kept well and increased for the existence of Akara Villas in the future.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan artikel ini untuk mengkaji implikasi pengembangan pariwisata berbasis masyarakat bagi kehidupan masyarakat di desa Bongan. Penelitian ini menggunakan data kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Informan diambil dari tokoh masyarakat yang memahami tentang implikasi pengembangan pariwisata dengan teknik snowball sampling. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan pariwisata berbasis masyarakat mampu memberikan implikasi positif bagi kehidupan masyarakat, baik ditinjau dari dimensi ekonomi, sosial, budaya, lingkungan, maupun politik. Impliksi ekonomi, yaitu terjadi peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat; implikasi sosial, yaitu terjadinya peningkatan kualitas hidup masyarakat, implikasi budaya, yaitu melestarikan dan menghormati tradisi budaya; implikasi lingkungan, yaitu meningkatkan kesadaran dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan; dan implikasi politik, yaitu masyarakat mendapat prioritas dalam perekrutan tenagakerja. Dirasakannya implikasi positif tersebut mampu meningkatkan antusias masyarakat dalam mendukung pengembangan pariwisata. Diharapkan stakeholder ikut berperan aktif dalam mendukung pengembangan pariwisata baik berupa motivasi, pembinaan, manajemen pengelolaan, maupun promosi.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengembangan desa wisata Kaba-Kaba dalam persepektif masyarakat lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan data kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui metode observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Tokoh masyarakat yang dipergunakan sebagai informan ditentukan dengan teknik snowball sampling. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam perspektif masyarakat lokal, desa wisata Kaba-Kaba memiliki kekuatan dalam pengembangan kegiatan pariwisata, seperti: daya tarik wisata alam, budaya, lokasi yang strategis dengan akses yang mudah untuk dijangkau, serta memiliki fasilitas pendukung yang memadai seperti villa. Kelemahan yang dimiliki yaitu: minimnya kemampuan sumber daya manusia lokal dalam berkomunikasi bahasa asing, tenaga kerja lokal belum menguasai potensi pariwisata secara komprehensif, serta minimnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Peluangnya yaitu: adanya dukungan pelaku pariwisata, kunjungan wisatawan yang cenderung kembali ke alam, dan kini desa wisata ini menjadi lintasan baru menuju DTW Tanah Lot. Tantangan yang perlu diantisipasi yaitu: terjadi persaingan antar desa wisata sejenis, dan pencemaran lingkungan. Untuk itu pemerintah diharapkan lebih berkontribusi dalam memberikan pendidikan dan pelatihan kepada masyarakat lokal. Masyarakat diharapkan lebih bersungguh-sungguh dalam menyiapkan diri guna mampu bersaing secara kompetitif dengan desa wisata lainnya

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impacts of development of Pela Village as a tourist village in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. Pella village has very unique tourism potential to be developed. For the sustainability of tourism development in the tourist village of Pela, it is important to pay attention to the impacts of devel-opment of a tourism village. The data were collected by observation, interviews, and literature study. Inform-ants are taken from community leaders who understand the impacts of tourism development in the village using snowball sampling techniques. Data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the development of Pela Village as a tourism village able to provide positive impacts for people's lives, both in terms of economic (as lodging business, tour operators, open food stalls); social (effective interactions occur between members of the community): cultural (keeping traditional fishing gear, Kuntau art, and the development of Jepen Dance); environmental (cleaning the village environment), and political dimensions (prioritized local communities as labor). The positive impacts is able to increase the enthusiasm of the local community in supporting the development of tourist villages. It is hoped that stakeholders will play an active role in supporting the development of Pela Tourist Village in the form of guidance, counseling, management, and promotion.

Abstract

This research is to examine the role of pentahelix in building digital marketing in Lubuak Mande Rubiah destination, West Sumatera, Indonesia. It uses a qualitative approach. The data used are participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The results of research show that the role of pentahelix in building digital marketing in Lubuak Mande Rubiah is that the government plays a role in making regulations to promote people's welfare. Padang city government has made regulations on the management of tourist destinations. Tourism actors collaborate with Pokdarwis and other stakeholders. The digital marketing model of tourist attraction destinations are expanding networks, promoting, and maintaining collaboration with the community, government, tourism actors, academics and media to support improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure.
