Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan salah satu cara menghadapi persaingan terutama dalam bidang pendidikan dengan adanya Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN (MEA) di awal tahun 2016. Salah satu lembaga pendidikan yang memiliki visi untuk menyiapkan tenaga kerja dan wirausaha yang dibutuhkan dunia usaha dan industri yaitu Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK).  Keaktifan pendidik dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris menjadi tolak ukur motivasi peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, tujuan kegiatan ini untuk memberikan pelatihan bagi para guru yang mengajar mata pelajaran non Bahasa Inggris dan staff SMK Ibu Pertiwi I Jakarta Barat akan pentingnya pengetahuan dan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris berkenaan dengan percakapan sehari-hari dan istilah-istilah dalam bidang Tata Boga. Dengan menggunakan metode bermain peran (role play) dengan tema “Daily Conversation at School” disertai dengan terjemahannya dan juga materi percakapan mengenai Tata Boga yang difokuskan kepada makanan khas dari Indonesia, Asia dan Barat serta peralatan dapur yang dilakukan dalam 3 x pertemuan (1 x 2 jam), diharapkan para guru SMK mata pelajaran non bahasa Inggris dan staff SMK Ibu Pertiwi I berperan aktif menggunakan bahasa Inggris setidaknya untuk percakapan sehari-hari (daily conversation) di lingkungan sekolah. Kata Kunci: Keterampilan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris, Metode Bermain Peran

Abstract

Language as the basic right of children is the most important thing to build their characters that required from their closest environment, family. Mother is the first person who will put and create the children's characters. The use of positive language by a mother will build on children's positive characters. Therefore, this research aims at determining the use of positive language by mothers in Majelis Taklim Baitul Hasan Jagakarsa, on children education to build their positive behavior. This research employing a cross-sectional survey method with attitudinal questionnaire of ten questions with the total respondents of 118 people. By implementing the formula of positive language, mothers will hopefully understand more the use of positive language on children education.

Abstract

In this research study, the writer would like to describe “The Meaning Analysis of “To Dianeme” in Robert Herrick's Poem (Semiotic Approach in Literature Analysis)”. Descriptive qualitative method is used by the writer for the study and also received most of the source from the internet for the related subject as references. The finding of this poem there are two meaning which can be found in “To Dianeme” such as heuristic like denotative meaning and hermeneutic like connotative meaning. As the main source of data consists of one short story which entitled “To Dianeme” in Robert Herrick's Poem and the secondary data used from reference books and internet.Keywords: Meaning, Semiotic, Literature, Heuristic, Hermeneutic.

Abstract

Translators always faced difficulties in translating. In order to manage, the translator would need to use strategies to produce effective and natural translation. In this study, the researcher was to find out the difficulties or problems and the strategies in the process of translation from English into Indonesian from the text in a novel titled Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks. The researcher was to annotate the words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that she has translated. This area above, namely annotated translation from English into Indonesian, was chosen by the researcher in order to widen her experience in translation which was in line with her study and to detect the problems emerging during the process of translation. The research result was that the translator found some difficult problems in translation such as Lexical, Grammatical, Communication and Cultural problems in translating the words, phrases, clauses and sentences. In order that the message of the SL text could be accurately translated into the acceptable TL equivalence, she did not merely or literally translate them by retaining the forms remaining the same way as the TL text. And to reach the acceptability of the TL equivalence, certain annotated procedures of translation were required.Keywords: Annotated translation, Lexical, Grammatical, Communication and Cultural problems in translating
