Abstract

ABSTRACT Muaro Peti is one of Minangkabau repertoire songs originally from Muaro Peti Village, Kapur IX Sub-district, Limapuluh Kota District, West Sumatera. Cultural geographically, this village is the part of darek area located in indigenous territorial of Luhak Nan Tigo, Minangkabau.This song expresses particular characteristics of melody which differs from general darek songs, especially the movement of melodic lines which tends to decrease; while dominantly, the other darek songs tend to have ascending melodic lines. If it’s viewed textually melodic, the uniqueness of this song is also visible from its garinyiak (thriller), layuak (glissando), and non-chordal tone (appoggiatura) which appears as variation in song’s melody. In western music, the concept of ornamental tone or melody variation is the part of ornamentation. Furthermore, in term of interval, Muaro Peti song has genuine pentatonic scale, while the other darek songs generally have pentatonic scale which is close to diatonic scale. The differences in melody and interval eventually result on every singer’s particular singing style or music expression in singing Muaro Peti.The major approach in this research entitled “Characteristics and Expressions of Muaro Peti Song from Various Interpretations of the Singers” was done by using the analysis of laboratory work through various audio recordings of Muaro Peti song as the primary data. In this research, the qualitative field research was used as secondary data because this research did not investigate performance expression, but it’s more focused on music expression interpreted by the singers in singing Muaro Peti song

Abstract

ABSTRACT The form of the pattern presentation of gamelan songs in Bina Laras association is different in any of their performance. This can be seen in a wayang kulit performance and Sawahlunto people’s party events. While in festival, this association combines some Minangkabau traditional musical instruments into gamelan ensemble. This research used qualitative method supported by data from field and library research starting from doing survey and then collecting data by using the techniques of observation, interview and documentation. Presentation pattern of gamelan songs in Bina Laras association is different in each of their performance because Sawahlunto people are multiethnic people consisting of Javanese, Minangkabaunese, Bataknese, Sundanese and Tionghoa. In addition, half of these association members are teenagers who do not only come from the Javanese ethnic group but also come from other ethnic groups. So does the election of instruments and language used in every performance namely using the language of tansi. Keywords: pattern of presentation, youth, creativity, gamelan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research discusses the relevancy of picture with news content that’s in the form of news script produced by the media of LKBN ANTARA TV, West Sumatra Bureau in Padang. LKBN ANTARA TV, West Sumatra Bureau is the news office of West Sumatra Bureau that exists under the central LKBN ANTARA TV in Jakarta. ANTARA news office belongs to Indonesia government. News aired consists of state news and community news. In television news, the picture becomes the main element in delivering information followed by narration/script as its support. The linkage between pictures with narration delivered must be understood by the viewers. It is done by ensuring the accuracy of taking moments by following the standard of shooting television news such as size shot, camera movement, camera angle, composition, sequence, and continuity. The picture of television news is supported by information obtained with a script that corresponds to the LKBN ANTARA format of news.   The method used in this research was qualitative method (descriptive analysis) namely utterance, writing, and behavior that could be observed from the person or the subject itself described and analyzed by directly observing the teamwork process of ANTARA TV – West Sumatera. The author then analyzed news from the program of Seputar Sumatera Barat that had been aired through observation, interview, and documentation related to the research. The linkage between pictures resulted by news in the program of Seputar Sumatera Barat produced by LKBN ANTARA TV – West Sumatera bureau with the script or narration, still depends on producer’s involvement in determining that linkage. It is because the creative team of ANTARA TV-West Sumatera still maintains the criteria and character of central LKBN ANTARA. Keywords: The Picture of Television News, News Content, the Program of Seputar Sumatera Barat, LKBN ANTARA TV – West Sumatera
