Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is on the second place in terms of entrepreneurial intention and has 17.67% of early-stage entrepreneurial activity, which is the highest number in 2015 among five ASEAN countries. This phenomenon shows that Indonesia has the potential to develop more established entrepreneurs, including social entrepreneurs. The social entrepreneurs are aiming to change the society into a better one. The social entrepreneurs receive higher status in the society when their businesses could affect and change the society positively and exceedingly when their businesses are exposed by the media. Global Entrepreneurship Monitor study at national level shows that social entrepreneurs in Indonesia are more likely to engage with one another to solve the issues in the society. Moreover, findings show that perceived capabilities from social entrepreneurs are lower than traditional entrepreneurs. It might happen because social entrepreneurs need to exercise social innovation higher than other entrepreneurs. Thus they were expected to have higher capabilities.

Abstract

Geopark or the established UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG), such as Toba Caldera, Batur, or Ciletuh, in fact, will stimulate local economic development, such as through ecotourism, by monetizing the potential of their geo-diversity, bio-diversity, and local culture. It is argued that the ecotourism model that involving the local community has great potential in supporting the success of Geopark’s sustainability. This study contributes as the best practice and guidance in managing the current UGG or developing the next UGG. Hence, this study aims to explore and describe the implementation of Geopark management following a community-based ecotourism model. Three cases study were carried out in UGG Batur, Ciletuh, and Toba Caldera.  Some aspects were studied, including key stakeholders and their roles, mapping community involvement, and implementation of the CBE in managing the UGG. Focus group discussions were done with resource persons from five main sectors, namely academics, government, community, entrepreneurs, and the media.  The results show that in most cases, the Geopark sites belong to the community or managed by the community, which is considered as a good condition for stimulating the CBE model. Applying the CBE model effectively requires key actors in the community with soft and hard skill competencies. Keywords: Batur Lake Bali, Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu West Java, Community-based ecotourism, Community involvement, Geopark, Toba Caldera North Sumatera.

This study discusses the relationship between Electronic Word of Mouth (EWOM) and consumer purchase interest for an online shop in fashion. The study involved 100 respondents from the Instagram account followers, including 50 people who had made a purchase and 50 others who had never made a purchase. The finding shows a positive relationship between the shopping experience and the influence of EWOM, although the correlation rate is low. The shopping experience has a positive and strong magnitude on the effect to the EWOM on purchase intention. The odds ratio shows that the shopping experience affects the ease of online purchases. Also, there is an influence on the shopping experience with purchase interest which is influenced by EWOM.
