Abstract

PHISICAL FITNESS PROFILE OF NON ANEMIC MALE ELDERLY PEOPLE IN RURAL AND URBANBackground: Physical fitness is considered as one indicator of community health status of thecommunity including elderly people. One of the benefit is elderly could live independently and dotheir daily activities without assistant. The study on Physical fitness of non anemic male elderlypeople has been conducted in the rural and the urban area.Method: The data collection including 6 components of physical fitness (gait balance, musclestrength, endurance, body composition, flexibility and memory test), antropometric measurement(body weight, height and mid-arms circumference) and Hemoglobin level.Result: The result shows that 217 elderly in rural and 281 elderly in urban area were participatedon the study. The proportion of age was 42.9 percent in rural was 70 years and 37.2 percent inurban was 60-64 years old. Based on the physical fitness measurements the proportion of ruralelderly who had low level physical fitness was 57.1 percent and 42.9 percent considered asmoderate level. While in urban area the proportion of elderly who had low level physical fitnesswas 82.6 percent and 17.4 percent considered as moderate level. Out of 6 component of physicalmeasurements body, cardiovascular endurance and body composition has high contribution to thedifferent of physical fitness level between rural and urban.Conclusion: The physical fitness level of non anemic male elderly in rural better compared to theurban.Keywords: elderly, physical fitness, non anemic

Abstract

Physical fitness is needed for daily activities.The level of physical fitness could be recognizedthrough many measurement. Many factors influence the level of physical activity, include anemia.The purpose of the study is to find physical fitness level among anemia adult. A cross sectionaldesign was apllied in this study. This study site took place at Pondok Pesantren in Bogor,WestJava. Sample were student who stay in Pondok Pesantren. Data on anemia were identified fromresult of hemoglobin determination by cyanmethemoglobin method. Physical fitness scoremeasured from cardiovascular endurancece,muscle strength, flexibility, muscle endurance andbody composition. Univariate and bivariate were applied in this analysis. The result showed thatlevel of physical fitness index the sample 98,4 % in moderate level. Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine physical activity level and factors related to physical activities obf Pre Elderly and Elderly people. Methods: The Riskesdas 2007 data was analyzed to fulfill the objective of the study. The sample were household who has aged 45 – 60 years old, no indication of infectious diseases and can independently perform their mobility. The sample was 200.703 Pre Elderly and elderly included in this study. The variable analysis were characteristic of respondent, physical activity level, body weight, height and body mass index , sex, education level. Results: The physical activities of 72,9 percent male Pre-Elderly in Rural was classified as heavy compared to elderly male in Urban (41,4 %). The same pattern of physical activities were indicated in Elderly 50,3 % in rural were considered as heavy level compared to elderly in Urban (25,5%). The pre-elderly women who had physical activities heavy level was higher in Rural (38,9 %) compared to pre-elderly in urban (13,4%). While in elderly women also shown the same pattern 20,5 % in Rural and 7,3% in Urban. The average energy expenditure of pre-elderly male in urban was 2192 ± 132 Kcal and 2192 ±135 Kcal in Rural, while the energy expenditure of male elderly in urban was 1731 ± 120 and 1731 ± 120 Kcal in Rural. The average energy expenditure of pre-elderly women was 1753 ± 69 Kcal in urban and 1744 ±7 2 Kcal in rural, while the energy expenditure of elderly women in urban was 1518 ± 79 and 1503 ± 79 Kcal in rural. Conclusion: There was no differences between theaverage energy expenditure of pre-elderly in urban and rural, while in elderly male was higher in urban compared to rural. The average energy expenditure of pre-elderly and elderly women was higher in urban compared to rural.Keywords: energy expenditure, pre-elderly an d elderly, physical activities

Abstract

sIgALACTOFERRIN LEVEL IN BREAST MILKBreast milk offers innumerable immunological components that are important for reduction of infantmorbidity and mortality. Breast milk protects against infections in breastfed newborns mainly viasecretory IgA (sIgA) antibodies, but also most likely via several other factors such as the bactericidallactoferrin. The purpose of this article is to determine the levels of sIgA and lactoferrin of breast milkfrom Indonesian women in Pandeglang. sIgA and lactoferrin in breast milk were measured crosssectionally in postpartum women between lactation days 14 -28 using ELISA. Results showed thatthe mean level of sIgA from 137 breast milk samples was 2.11 ± 3.5 mg/ml and that of lactoferrin from138 samples was 3.73±4.05 mg/ml. The mean levels of sIgA and lactoferrin in this group are lowerwhen compared with other published values.Keywords: breast milk, secretory IgA (sIgA), lactoferrin

Abstract

 Air Susu Ibu (ASI) merupakan sumber energi, zat gizi penting, air, faktor imun, dan komponen lain yang diperlukan bayi yang memberi perlindungan pada bayi agar tidak kekurangan zat gizi termasuk kekurangan vitamin A. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pemberian minyak goreng yang difortifikasi vitamin A dan minyak goreng biasa pada ibu nifas di masyarakat. Ibu nifas dengan umur bayi 14-28 hari dipilih secara acak untuk menerima minyak goreng yang difortifikasi atau tidak difortikasi selama 80 hari dan diikuti periode “wash out” selama 10 hari. Setelah intervensi selesai, rerata kadar retinol dalam Air Susu Ibu pada kedua kelompok menurun, masing masing 3,6 µg/dL untuk kelompok fortifikasi dibandingkan dengan 5,3µg/dL pada kelompok tidak fortifikasi. Tidak ada perbedaan rerata kadar retinol yang nyata pada kedua kelompok tersebut. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kelompok yang mendapat minyak goreng yang difortifikasi sedikit lebih menguntungkan dibandingkan dengan kelompok yang mendapat minyak yang tidak difortifikasi, karena penurunan kadar vitamin A-nya lebih kecil.ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF VITAMIN A FORTIFIED COOKING OIL ON BREASTMILK RETINOL STATUS Breastmilk is a source of energy, essential nutrients including vitamin A, water, immune factors, and many other components that are beneficial for infants. Breastmilk protects babies against vitamin A deficiency. The efficacy of maternal postpartum intervention with Vitamin A Fortified Cooking Oil on breast milk retinol concentration were assessed based on double-blind community trial. At 14-28 days postpartum women were randomly assigned to receive either Vitamin A fortified cooking oil or non fortified cooking oil for 80 days followed by wash out period of 10 days. After intervention, the mean of breast milk retinol concentration in both groups decreased, 3,6 µg/dL compared with 5,3 µg/dL, however, they were not significantly different among two groups. This implied that the group received fortified cooking oil was more advantaged than other group who received non fortified cooking oilKeywords: breast milk retinol, postpartum women, fortification

Abstract

ZINC STATUS OF ANEMIC AND NON-ANEMIC MALE ELDERLY IN RURAL AND URBAN AREASThe elderly peoples are prone to micronutrients deficiency such as zinc. The impact of low intake of zinc is impaired functions of wound healing, immunity and taste and smell. The article presents the zinc state of elderly people with or without anemia. The age of subjects was 60 – 75 years. physically and clinically healthy, and agreed to participate in this study. Data collection including anthropometric measurements (body weight, height, mid-upper circumference), zinc, and Hb. Body Mass Index was calculated using ratio body weight to height. Hemoglobin level was analyzed using cyanmethemoglobin method and serum zinc was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer method. The average Body weight, height and MUAC of urban elderly were statistically higher compared to rural elderly. The proportion of anemic among elderly in rural was 29.0 percent and 15.7 percent in urban. Serum zinc level showed that the proportion of elderly who have low serum zinc level was higher in rural compared to urban area (76.0% vs 54.9%). Out of 54 elderly whose anemic 87.1 percent have serum zinc level below 70 mg/L, while in urban area out of 64 anemic elderly 68.8 % have serum zinc level below 70 mg/L.The proportion of elderly who have suffered anemia and have low serum level were higher in rural compared to urban area.Keywords: anemia, zinc, elderly

Abstract

Penelitian status gizi siswa sekolah lima tahun terakhir mengungkapkan bahwa prevalensi anemia, yang dapat menyebabkan turunnya konsentrasi belajar, dan kurang vitamin A, yang dapat menyebabkan turunnya daya tahan tubuh, masih cukup tinggi, sehingga menjadi kendala dalam upaya mengoptimalkan prestasi belajar. Keadaannya semakin buruk jika kedua masalah ini diderita secara bersama-sama oleh siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak suplementasi zat gizi mikro (Fe dan Vitamin A)terhadap perbaikan status besi dan status vitamin A. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 150 siswa anemia yang tinggal di kabupaten Bogor. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi: identitas siswa, kadar Hb, s-transferin, vitamin A serum (retinol), konsumsi makanan/zat gizi dan energi. Sebelum pemberian suplemen, dilakukan “deworming” dengan pemberian obat cacing dosis tunggal “Combantrin”. Sampel dibagi tiga kelompok, masing-masing 50 siswa. Pada kelompok A setiap siswa mendapat satu pil besi (ferro sulfat) dengan dosis 60 mg besi elemental +0,25 mg asam folat dan kapsul vitamin A (10.000 SI) dua kali per minggu. Kelompok B hanya mendapat satu pil besi seperti pada kelompok A, diberikan dua kali per minggu. Kelompok C adalah kelompok pembanding yang mendapat plasebo. Suplementasi berlangsung selama 12 minggu. Pemberian suplemen satu pil besi (60 mg besi elemental + 0,25 mg asam folat) dan vitamin A (10.000 SI) disertai pemberian snack mengandung energi (15% AKG), dua kali per minggu selama 12 minggu dapat memeningkatkan kadar Hb sebesar 1,40 g/dl, serum transferrin receptor (sTFR) sebesar – 1,0 µg/L, serum vitamin A (retinol) sebesar 6,1 µg/dl. Tidak ada perbedaan bermakna konsumsizat gizi (energi dan protein) sebelum dan sesudah pemberian suplementasi.Kata kunci: vitamin A, zat besi, siswa, anemia, KVA

Abstract

Hypertension, heart disease and stroke become a major cause of death in Indonesia. Many studies showed that there were a relationship between excess of sodium intake and the incidence of hypertension. Globally, excess of sodium intake were responsible for 1,7 million death from cardiovascular diseases. The Regulation of Minister of Heath of the Republic of Indonesia of the year of 2013 recommends to decrease sodium intake approximately 2 gram of sodium per day. This study aimed to estimate sodium intake among Indonesian population using Indonesian Food Consumption Survey data in 2014. Data collection used 24-hour recall method. Descriptive analysis was conducted using 145,360 subjects from 33 provinces in Indonesia. The study showed that the average sodium intake was 2764 mg/day, 52.7 percent of the population consumed more than 2000 mg/day, 73 percent sodium intake came from home-cooked meal and 23 percent from processed foods. Estimated 47,6 percent intake of sodium naturally occurred in foods and 52,4 percent from salt added into food. The average salt intake among Indonesian population aged 5 years and above has exceeded the recomendation limit.ABSTRAK  Saat ini hipertensi, jantung dan stroke menjadi penyebab utama kematian di Indonesia. Banyak penelitian menunjukkan kaitan antara asupan natrium dan kejadian hipertensi. Setiap tahunnya sekitar 1,7 juta kematian akibat penyakit kardiovaskular selalu dikaitkan dengan kelebihan assupan natrium. Mengingat dampak buruknya, WHO dan pemerintah Indonesia melalui Permenkes nomor 30 tahun 2013 merekomendasikan penurunan konsumsi garam di bawah 5 g per hari atau sekitar 2 g natrium per hari untuk mencegah kejadian hipertensi dan risiko penyakit jantung dan stroke. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai jumlah asupan natrium pada penduduk Indonesia dari data Survei Konsumsi Makanan Individu (SKMI) 2014. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode food recall 1x 24 jam. Analisis deskriptif dilakukan pada sampel sebanyak 145.360 orang, yang tersebar di 33 provinsi di Indonesia. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa rerata asupan natrium penduduk Indonesia sebesar 2764 mg/orang/hari. Sekitar 52,7 persen penduduk Indonesia mengonsumsi natrium > 2000 mg/hari. Sebanyak 73 persen natrium berasal dari makanan yang dimasak di rumah dan 23 persen dari makanan yang dibeli di luar rumah. Kontribusi asupan natrium berasal dari bahan makanan sebesar 47,6 persen dan 52,4 persen dari garam. Kesimpulan: Rata-rata asupan natrium penduduk Indonesia usia di atas 5 tahun sudah melebihi 2000 mg/hari atau melebihi batas yang dianjurkan.  Kata kunci: Asupan natrium, garam, penduduk Indonesia

Abstract

PHISICAL ACTIVITY AND ENERGY EXPENDITURE OF MALE WORKER WITH DIFFERENT ACTIVITY LEVELDaily physical activities considered as main component in estimating energy expenditure for group ofcommunity. Data on physical activities of male worker relating to their job/occupation in Indonesian isstill rarely found. The objective of the study is to compare daily physical activities and daily energyexpenditure of male workers with different of their activity level.Respondents were 51 male workers considered as light activity level and 50 as heavy activity level.Data collection including anthropometric measurement, physical activities was measured at their joblocation using combination of observation method and recall method 5 day consecutively. Total energyexpenditure was estimated using factorial estimated of total energy expenditure. The results showedthat male worker with light activity level spent their time in doing their job significantly longer than highactivity level (589 minutes vs. 520 minutes). However in term of the energy cost for their doing the jobthe male worker with high activity level was higher compared to male worker with light activity level(2273 Kcal vs. 1242 Kcal). Mean value daily total energy expenditure was 2408 Kcal/day for lightactivity and 3548 Kcal/day for high activity.Keywords: physical activities, energy expenditure, male worker.
