Abstract

KRL transport operator should be able to create specific products in order to answer the demands and needs of service users. This study aims to determine market segmentation and positioning of the user of KRL Tanahabang-Serpong line based on class of service. Analyses were performed using the methods of K-Means Cluster and correspondence analysis. The results suggest that the market of KRL Tanahabang-Serpong line can be divided into 3 segments, namely segment of the upper class which is not too concerned with price, segment of the middle-class which is realistic on price, and segment of lower class which is oriented on price only. From the mapping results of the users perception of the KRL services, it is found that there is an associative relationships of the product image in the minds of consumers, namely KRL Express - Fast and On Time, KRL Economy with AC - Comfortable and Affordable, and KRL Economy - Cheap. Keywords: KRL, market segmentation, perceptual maps, product image.

Abstract

The increasing of air transportation traffic that is beyond the existing airport capacity leads to the airport congestion problem. Handling the airport congestion problem can be done by increasing the airport capacity. There are many studies conducted to assess airport capacity. This study used a different approach in analyzing the airport capacity. We use subjective approach that explore the perception of managers as the actors involved in the decision-making process. By using the theory of probabilistic causality, we analyzed the factors that contribute in increasing the capacity of the airport, as well as the impact on the costs and the benefits. This paper is limited to the descriptive analysis, as the basis for further studies.

Abstract

Abstract

The  notion  of  Power-law  which arguably  stands  for  the  sign of  complex  system  has  been  widely  encountered  in  many  natural  and  social phenomenons  as  upon which  we  hypothesize  Indonesian  cities’  size distribution  would  follow  the  same  manner.  To  evaluate  it,  we  test  the hypothesis  employing  hybrid  method  co-joined  the  Cumulative Distribution  Function  (CDF)  technique,  Hill  Estimator,  and  Anderson Darling  Statistics  (Coronel-Brizio,  dkk,  2003;  Coronel-Brizio  and Hernandez-Montoya, 2004) on Indonesian cities’ population at year 1990 and  2005.  As  results,  in  one  hand,  our  work  brings  quantitative  sight upon Indonesian cities distribution within which were satisfied by  Powerlaw  distribution  for  both  year  1990  (Xmin=9665  and Alpha=2,088±0,094)  and  year  2005  (Xmin=129490  and Alpha=1,994±0,078)  while  in  the  other  hand, it  strengthens  the  precede Power-law  Indonesian  cities  distribution  claim  which  previously proposed  by  Mulianta, dkk (2004).  Put the  result altogether  and  have it tested with deductive and simulation method as we try to explain on how the distribution could ever happen have lead us to conceive the notion of ‘onslaught’  urbanization  in Indonesia. All and all,  the work solidifies the edge  of  chaos  paradigm  in  Indonesian  urban  and  regional  planning study.
