Abstract

Several previous researches showed that students had difficulty in understanding the basic concept of multiplication.  Students are more likely to be introduced by using formula without involving the concept itself. This underlies the researcher to design a learning trajectory of learning multiplication using Permainan Tradisional Tepuk Bergambar (PT2B) as a context based on the student experience. The purpose of this research is to look at the role of PT2B in helping students understanding in learning multiplication, which evolved from the informal to formal level in third grade with Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) approach. The method used is design research starting from preliminary design, teaching experiments, and retrospective analysis. This research describes how PT2B make a real contribution to the third grade students of SDN 179 Palembang to understand the concept of multiplication. The results showed PT2B context can stimulate students to understand their  knowledge of the multiplication concept. The whole strategy and model that students discover, describe, and discuss shows how the students construction or contribution can uses to help their initial understanding of that concept. The stages in the learning trajectory of student have an important role in understanding the concept of the operation number from informal to the formal level.  Keyword: Design Research, PMRI, Multiplication, Permainan Tradisional Tepuk Bergambar

Abstract

This research aims to determine differences in mathematical critical thinking skills between students who obtain mathematics learning using Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Guided Inquiry model. The research method used quasi-experimental with matching-only posttest-only control group design which implemented in one of the Junior High School of Yogyakarta. The instrument used is a valid test instrument namely posttest with descriptive evaluation. The result of this research showed that there is a difference of mathematical critical thinking skills between students who obtain mathematics learning using PBL model and students who obtain mathematics learning using guided inquiry model. Furthermore, the average of mathematical critical thinking skills between a student who obtains mathematics learning using problem based learning model is higher than students who obtain mathematics learning using guided inquiry model.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the reversibility ability of the seventh-grade students in making the linear equations. This ability is known after all students complete ten questions given and some students selected to be interviewed. Instrument test findings, in the form of 10 questions reversibility capability that has valid and reliable. The subjects were 29 students of class VIII 1 in MTS Negeri Pagedangan in the academic year 2015/2016. Interviews conducted to see students ability to create a linear equation. As a result, most of the students have had the reversibility ability and the biggest difficulties of students in making similarity equation when its variable in the middle of the equation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is that students are able to understand the basic concepts of Least Common Multiple (LCM) easy by using traditional games in Palembang, namely Bom Angka. The method used is design research with preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis stage, with the subjects were primary school students in the fourth grade. The results of this study indicate that the use of the traditional game in LCM motivated students to be more interested in learning mathematics, because students can learn and play at the same time. In addition, the pronunciation of numbers in sequence once uttered a bomb in every multiple of the numbers that have been agreed enables students to think quickly while helping students memorizing multiplication automatically, who were eventually able to instill the concept of LCM well.

Abstract

An increasing number of Papuans qualified teachers realized by sending young people from Papua to continue their education in the College of Education. But the basic capabilities, especially mathematics, which owned high school students graduated from Papua that continuing education is very low. This, presumably because the students have math anxiety, thus preventing them from material master mathematics. By using a qualitative research approach, particularly the case study method, this research describes what factors are the cause of math anxiety prospective teacher students from Papua, based on the results of questionnaires and interviews that have been analyzed.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical communicating skills of junior high school students. The aim of this study is to know the differences in average score of mathematical communicating skills between the students once learnt using realistic mathematics education approach and students learnt using conventional approach. This research used a quasi-experimental method with non-equivalent control group design. The population used were all 7th grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Pagedangan, with two classes used as samples. This research datas are obtained from students’ scores in pretest and posttest. Based on the analysis of the research results, it is concluded that there are differences in the average score of matematical communicating skills between the students once learnt using realistic mathematics eduacation approach and conventional approach. The average score of mathematical communicating skills of the students learnt using realistic mathematics education approach is higher than the students learnt using conventional approach.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low student learning outcomes in the material triangle and parallelogram caused by a lack of understanding of students about the forms of flat wake triangle and parallelogram so when the teacher gives about the shape Flat figure that is different from that taught teachers, students find it difficult to do. Therefore the use of learning with math GASING (easy, fun, and enjoyable). The purpose of research is to know the size of the average N-gain in the ability of students mathematical understanding once taught using learning math GASING. This research was conducted in SDN RUMPAKSINANG with grade IV samples of 31 people in November 2015. The method used in this research is the type pre-experimental design with the design of one group pretest-posttest. The results showed from this research that there is an increased ability to learn the students understanding after learning of Mathematics GASING. The increase was seen from the average N-gain of 0.3813 which is included in the medium category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aims to explore the correlation between mathematics and Javanese culture, especially in Yogyakarta. This research uses etnography approach, that is empirical and theoritical approach to get the description and deep analysis about a culture based on the field note which has been obtained from the data collection. The focus of this research is study etnomathematics in Javanese traditional games namely Kubuk, Kubuk Manuk, Dhukter, Macanan, and Jeg-Jegan. The result shows that Javanese traditional games have the concepts of mathematics, such as number operations, plane, congruence, proportion number, and relation. In addition, the traditional games also contain cultural values, which began to be left by some people. Keywords: ethnomathematics, traditional games, Javanese culture, ethnography

Abstract

This research uses reallotment activities that already designed by previous research to know the role of reallotment activities in great rectangular learning. This research uses descriptive research method implemented in class 7th at SMP N 3 Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The data collection techniques used are documentation, observation, and test. Furthermore, the researcher analyzed the data obtained through video recording, observation, and student test answers. The results show that reallotment activities can assist students in finding the square formula by changing the shape of a rectangle into a rectangular shape. The learning activities that use reallotment activities consist of action comparing the area of an irregular shape, replacing the regular form into squares, determining the area of the rectangle and the parallelogram, finding the formula of the breadth of the parallelogram, and also determining the area of the trapezium, the parallelogram, and kite.
