<![CDATA[This research aimed to investigate the causes of transformation of oil palm farmer into crop farmer at Gedung Pakuon, Baradatu, Way Kanan. Descriptive method was used in this research were observation, interview, questionnaire, documentation and percentage table. The result showed that there were five points. Those were: 1) there were 23.3 ha oil palm areas transformed into crop areas. 2) lack of production of oil palm was the one of the reasons for causing oil palm areas became crop areas. 3) The inexpensive price was the second reason that made the farmers interested in crop rather than oil palm. 4) there was an easy market that effected the farmers to plant crop rather than oil palm. 5) The low-income was the last factor of which the farmers use their areas to plant crop rather than oil palm.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui penyebab perubahan usaha tani dari petani kelapa sawit menjadi petani palawija di Desa Gedung Pakuon Kecamatan Baradatu Kabupaten Way Kanan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan metode deskriptif, dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 30 petani. Teknik pengumpulan data teknik observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dokumentasi, dan analisis data dalam bentuk tabel persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Luas lahan usaha petani kelapa sawit seluas 23,3 ha yang diubah menjadi petani palawija. 2) Rendahnya produksi kelapa sawit menyebabkan usaha petani kelapa sawit menjadi usaha petani palawija. 3) Rendahnya harga jual kelapa sawit menyebabkan usaha petani kelapa sawit menjadi usaha petani palawija. 4) Perubahan usaha tani petani kelapa sawit menjadi petani palawija dikarenakan mudahnyapemasaran palawija dibandingkan dengan kelapa sawit. 5) Rendahnya pendapatan usaha petani kelapa sawit menyebabkan petani kelapa sawit berubah menjadi petani palawija.Kata kunci: luas lahan, produksi, usaha tani]]>
