Abstract

APPLICATION OF CHARACTER VALUES IN SCOUTING ACTIVITIES IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS Abstract. This study aims to: (1) find out the application of character values in scouting activities at primary school, (2) find out what factors influence the application of character values in scouting activities at Primary school, and (3) find out whether activities Scouts improve the character of the students of primary school. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data in this study were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation with interactive model data analysis. The results showed that the application of character values in scouting activities at primary school was adjusted to the values of character education according to Listyarti (2012), namely: (1) religious, (2) honest, (3) tolerance, (4 ) discipline, (5) hard work, (6) creative, (7) independent, (8) democratic, (9) curiosity, (10) national spirit, (11) love for the homeland, (12) respect for achievement, (13) friendly/communicative, (14) peace-loving, (15) likes to read, (16) cares about the environment, (17) cares about social, and (18) is responsible. Meanwhile, factors that affect the application of the character values in scouting activities in primary school, namely: First, the supporting factors, namely the implementation of the mandate of Act No. 12 of 2010 concerning the Scouting movement and Decision Munas results of the Scout Movement in 2013. The second, factor barriers, namely funding, and the relatively low level of parental knowledge about Scouting activities so that parents are less motivated to actively participate in Scouting activities. Scout activities carried out primary school improve the character of students. This can be seen in the results of the study where 18 values of character education are always taught by the coach/teacher in scout extracurricular activities. In addition, giving examples of good attitudes, which contain character values through scouting materials also makes students more behave and act according to directions or rules.

Abstract

Discipline is a condition which provides encouragements to someone to do and perform all activities following the norms or rules. The purpose of this study was to analyze and determine the effect of the leaders’ model on the teachers’ work discipline at elementary schools in Kecamatan Bontomarannu, Kabupaten Gowa. The population in this study was all elementary school teachers and principals at Kecamatan Bontomarannu, Kabupaten Gowa, consisting of 113 people from 18 schools with the status of Civil Servants (PNS). Considering the large population, the samples were chosen by random simple sampling resulting in 47 teachers and 18 principals taken as the samples. The results of this study were 1) compensation, leaders’ model and the assertiveness of rules affected the teachers’ work discipline at elementary schools in Kecamatan Bontomarannu, Kabupaten Gowa. This was supported by the results of F test showing that the value of F-calculated was 47,352 with a significance value of 0,000 (< 0.05) at a significance level of 95% (α = 0.05). Thus, the factors of compensation, leaders’model, and assertiveness were crucial to improve the teachers’ work discipline at elementary schools; 2) Compensation, leadership models, and assertiveness respectively affected the elementary school teachers’ work discipline; for example, compensation positively and significantly influenced for 0.212, the leaders’ model positively and significantly influenced for 0.342, the assertiveness positively and significantly influenced for 0.340, and those three factors significantly influenced the elementary school teachers’ work discipline in Kecamatan Bontomarannu, Kabupaten Gowa.

Abstract

The good learning achievement of a number of students is believed to be the simultaneous influence of the standard of completeness of learning facilities in schools and students' learning motivation. This assumption has resulted in, at least, empirical evidence and different field data sources in several case studies for similar themes, included in this study. Conducted from June to August in class V - UPTD SDN Region 1 Bontoa District, Maros Regency as a locus. This research is an Ex-post facto quantitative study that focuses on the moment of a certain phenomenon that has become a past event to find out both the causal factors and the impact of the event. Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling was used as a sampling technique, where 125 students were randomly assigned in this study according to the Slovin formula. Data collection is done by distributing questionnaires to respondents, namely class V students. The questionnaire uses an inverted number scale with two categories, where the favorable category starts from numbers from 1 to 5 and Unfavorable vice versa (from 5 to 1). In addition to descriptive analysis as one of the mathematical model approaches used in analyzing the relationship between one or several independent variables that are categorical, numeric, or both with one dichotomous categorical dependent variable - logistic regression analysis is also used. Partial tests are included to determine the significance of the effect each independent variable separately, so that it can be seen whether the existing assumptions are acceptable or not. The hypothesis is accepted if t-count t-table or p = 0.05. The results obtained show that learning facilities have a less significant effect on learning achievement. While the motivation variable has a significant influence.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan pengaruh gaya dan kebijakan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kapasitas guru di Kelompok III Kecamatan Panakkukang Kota Makassar. Penelitian dilakukan di kota Makassar, di provinsi Makassar. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam jenis penelitian ini. Penulis menggunakan strategi purposive sampling untuk menemukan sumber informasi, dengan fokus pada orang-orang dan organisasi yang tampaknya memiliki wawasan tentang masalah yang sedang diselidiki. Oleh karena itu, sumber-sumber untuk penelitian ini adalah UPT SPF SDN Pampang dan UPT SPF SDI Pampang II. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah para guru di wilayah studi yang terbagi menjadi dua sekolah. Guru di UPT SPF SDN Pampang dan UPT SPF SDI Pampang II disingkat G1, G2, G3, dan seterusnya, sedangkan kepala sekolah disingkat KS1 dan KS2. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas guru di Kelompok III Kecamatan Panakkukang Kota Makassar dipengaruhi oleh gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dan kebijakan yang diterapkan kepala sekolah. Kepala sekolah berusaha untuk mendorong pengembangan profesional dan advokat melakukan segala upaya untuk meningkatkan pedagogi guru. Kepala sekolah dan guru senang menerima masukan dan kritik dari guru, kepala sekolah mengutamakan kerjasama dalam tujuan organisasi, kepala sekolah memberikan kebebasan seluas-luasnya kepada guru dalam melaksanakan tugas pelayanannya, kepala sekolah berusaha sebaik mungkin untuk menciptakan peluang pengembangan bagi guru.
